View Full Version : Sleeping Spots?

Okay, just wondering if any of our dear corgis have strange sleeping spots? If Jackie is not with me, and I go looking for her, I inevitably find her sleeping on the floor in one of the bathrooms. There are so many more comfortable places (in my opinion) for her to sleep, but she likes the cold, hard floor. Other popular places - across the bottom of the front door, and on the hearth (only when there is no fire in the fireplace) . . . possibly due to the drafts that come in from both of those places? She's nutty. Does anyone else find their corgi sleeping somewhere that makes you go  ?

Cody likes the cool surfaces also. At times he will sleep under the kitchen table; but his most favorite spot is on the back of the sofa - much like a cat does - funny, the day I went to bring Cody home, both his parents were on the back of the sofa also, must be in the genes:)

When I first brought Tucker home he would sleep on a pile of smelly sneakers and boots. He looked so uncomfortable and of course, I had bought him blankets, and comfy pads, etc.

He was just as happy as a clam!

Gus loves to sleep on the marble fireplace hearth - he also loves to sleep on cool tile floors in the foyer..any drafty cool place he loves it! I find it funny as there are minimum of 4 dog beds to sleep on in this house and yet they are often not in them!! Dillon loves to sleep on the leather couch or the leather chair. Dillon also used to sleep on my shoes by the door when he was a puppy but doesnt do it anymore.

Zip (the honorary corgi) likes to sleep on the couch. Zia (the weirdo) likes to sleep around the base of the toilet. Her head is between the toilet and wall and her body between the toilet and tub. I guess it's a combo of the cool floor and cool toilet. Zeke (the baby) sleep anywhere!

Glad to see that Jackie isn't the only bathroom sleeper! Why did I buy all this comfy bedding, when she just wants to sleep on the floor? When we first brought her home, she would push her soft bed away from the wall, and then sleep on the floor, wedged BETWEEN the bed and the wall!

Chloe in princess mode must sleep on a lap or a pillow - any one of many thrown around the house to accommodate her - and of course on our bed at night. When in peasant mode she will lay near Emma next to a door to watch for intruders ? or squeezed between my chair and footstool.

Emma the hot blooded mama loves the cool wood or tiled areas, when she is tired of Chloe she goes behind my chair or under our bed. At night she has taken to sleeping in the crate on a nice fluffy pillow - or she goes under our bed - OR if she is mad at me she will sneak and sleep on my chair  I hear her think "who has the fuzzy butt now T-Mom!"

Riley was the one that liked the bathroom floor where it was cool and hard - how enjoyable!!!

Jemma likes the good life, she's on me, or beside me or on something soft like a chair.

Rupert likes to be up against the sofa, or my big comfy chair or under my feet, where with much grunting and carrying on, he gets himself on his back with his feet splayed all over! As you can see from the photo - he started this position at a young age!

Puppy Rupe is adorable! That's been one of Jackie's favorite positions too, since she was a wee pup! :)

How on earth did we manage to not just smother these little guys to death with love as puppies? They are all so precious!

Look at little Miss FLuffypants! She was fluffy right up to her pink toes.

Chip & Dale both like to sleep on top of their crate. Sometimes one will sleep in the crate and the other on top or they both sprawl out on top of the coffee table. Once in a great while Dale will lay on the hearth. Both sleep in our bed at night.

I just took these photos a second ago - as you can see Jemma is actually a 3 legged Corgi! Well at least when it comes to the frog dog position!!

Now I have to wake them up to take them out in the rain for their bedtime tinkle!!!

Dudley will sleep on the bed if at all possible. He also likes the headboard and on the futon. He likes to sleep on the bathroom floor too if all the other spots are taken.

Maya, on the other hands, will sleep in front of the door or under the futon. Anywhere she is left alone to sleep in peace :)

Checkers is another "back of the couch" pup. He is a major "beauty sleep" guy too... most nights he beats ME to bed and is waiting on me to hurry and join him. He loves to snuggle for a minute in the evening (if he's not already too tired to move when I get there)... but then he goes to sleep on hubby's side of the bed until he gets home from work.. at which time hubby has to move him to the foot of the bed and jump in quick before Checkers moves back. In the mornings, Checkers turns into a total 100% cuddle bug! He actually gets offended if I have to jump out of bed in the morning without spending at least 2 minutes snuggling and spoiling him first.

Gator really doesn't seem to care where he sleeps... though he loves to have something to rest his head on, even if that something is a chair leg, or Checkers, or a baby toy. He's not selective. At first he was sleeping in the floor happily at night, but I felt bad that Checkers could get on the bed and Gator couldn't so I started the bad habit of picking Gator up and putting him on the bed with us at night (the first week of this Checkers would jump off and go lay next to the bathroom door in a huff and would NOT come back to bed... funny). Now, when I go to bed Gator is pretty persistant about getting picked up and put up there with us as well. Luckily he is not turning out to be the jumper that Checkers is! Here is Checkers "back of the couch" position...

Rhys loves to sleep under the bed - and it is a tight fit! I don't see how he finds it comfortable.

Andy has taken to sleeping under my combination lamp/end table. She used to sleep behind it; now, she sleeps halfway out from under it - I guess she doesn't want to miss any food opportunities. :)

My mom's late border collie, Kate, was queen of the bathroom tile - for years, that's where she slept at night.

Darci is always on the back of the couch right behind me. Egan is either lying with Daddy in the recliner or in the floor.

wicca too is a back of the couch sleeper- she likes to be above everyone else. Sam will sleep anywhere....and Jack likes to sleep under the computer desk at my feet!!!

MaxiMomus

Maxi sleeps on the bed at night or beside the bed with his head under the bed. He enjoys laying on the wood floor when he his hot and the couch when he can, with four dogs and 4 people sometimes there is just not any room. If the couch is full and my recliner is empty his will jump up there and sleep upside down.

Here are some of Dillon's favorite sleeping positions- The first one was Dillon as a 11 wk old puppy... second one is one of his favorite nap sites ( the couch) and the last one is him on his back at 11 wks of age - look at those tummy freckles ( they are all faded now)

Those pics of Dillon were so cute! I love the spotty tummy. Ponzo is all for an empty couch! Everynight, he will look at my husband and I and do a fake double pump like he's getting ready to jump on the couch. When we don't move he will give a little bark...to this we wait a bit, then scooch over and invite him up. He even has a favorite spot on the couch.
However, should no one be on the leather couch, he is in his glory. He just lays on his back completely sprawled out, legs outstretched, head tilted back. As you can see in my avatar, while in his favorite spot he also enjoys the blanket and pillow to be somewhere near him on the couch as well!

In Summer Abby sleeps on the ceramic tiled floors of bathroom, toilet and laundry, or under my bed. But as soon as the temp drops below 15C (59F) she heads for her own bed which she loves, especially when it gets colder and I put one of her many rug things over it.

These pictures are sure great! Kathy - Ace sleeps like Abby - one his back with his head to the side. That is our favorite position! He does it all the time. It's especially funny when we're traveling and he does it in his crate in the back of the car. We just crack up! He also likes to sleep on the leather couch. Or on the tile with his legs spread out.
Susan - Lulu's picture is the best! I'm still ROFL!!

Is Emma really sleeping or just hiding because you are chasing after her with the camera?

Here are two of Cody - I bet he was wishing the stool would be a bit closer:)

Way too cute! Cody is adorable. I always wonder why they sleep in what looks like the most uncomfortable positions, i will catch mine here and there in such contorted body positions and they are sleeping away!

Anyway, Andy sleeps on the bed with me at night and she has taken to sleeping on her back, with her back legs flopped out. She looks so comfortable when I am tossing and turning.

Gromit used to sleep under our bed every single night. He would do this GI Joe crawl to get in and out. One night he discovered he was too big and almost got stuck. We heard him scrambling around under there kind of in a panic. We had to get out of bed and help him out. He has not tried to sleep under there since.

Now he sleeps on the floor beside our bed on the comforter I bought to match my newly redecorated bedroom. Its some kind of slick material and slides right off the bed every night! We gave up trying to keep it on, now its a doggie blanket!

Gromit's other favorite place to sleep is on any kind of dirty laundry. Socks, towels, underwear - whatever my kids don't pick up is fair game.

Cody often does that also - he loves to come in the laundry room and make a bed out of the dirty clothes while I am in there.

Cody is TOO funny. (By the way, I like the sofa!)

Who knows where our puppy will sleep...I'm sure there are dozens of great nooks and crannies in this apartment that we won't know about until we find a dog asleep in them ;)

Sooty sleeps upstairs in the spare bedroom, Cindy will usually sleep on the wooden floor downstairs, on her back with her legs resting against the wall.

I love the pictures.

House tip: If your corgi is sleeping in a new spot, check out the floor.

For us Pepper was sleeping on the kitchen corner at our old house which she had never done before. I mean a corgi sleeping where food is? I felt the floor and it was warm! We had to call in the plumbers to jack hammer the concrete slab and replace the section of hot water pipe that had electrolysis had made so thin it busted. Of course, no damage done to the house, so no insurance to pay. Luckily it was a wet year and we could sink a grounding rod for our utility box instead of having it ground to our too small 5/8" pipes (3/4" is current code). It could have caused a crack in our slab over time with erosion. Corgi, the busted pipe detector!
