Thought maybe everyone who has other animals in their household would like to share pictures or stories about them.
Here is Cody having a snooze with our 3 cats by the fireplace. At the top is Owen who is 2 and the shy, timid cat who will only snuggle with me at night time when no one is watching:rolleyes: and it terrified of the vacuum.
The second boy is Billy(the orange one) who is 13 and a Big love bug/snuggle cat who enjoys very much being held and is also afraid of the vacuum. He on occasion with swat at Cody when Cody's ball rolls by him.
At the bottom is Ernie, the independed one. He is 3 and often spends time on top of my kitchen cabinets(way up high) he is fearless and will often plant himself in front of my vacuum when I am using it. He tries to be an escape artist so we have to be very careful when coming into the house as he is usually right behind the door waiting to exit out. He also has IBD, inflammatory bowel disease and takes a steroid to control his symptoms.

What a cute pic Linda - Naptime in Wisconsin :D
Jackie used to share her home with three brothers - 2 gerbils and a turtle. But the gerbils (Itchy & Scratchy) have gone to the bridge, and the turtle (Mack) retired to Florida.

Oh, sorry to hear that Itchy and Scratchy are at the bridge:(
Did you happen to leave Mack at Disneyworld:D

NO WAY!
If anyone is going to live at Disneyworld . . . it's going to be MOMMY!!!
Mack was found a new home through Turtle Homes USA (www.turtlehomes.org). He was too big for his tank (again!), and I realized that even a new, bigger, tank is still just a tank. So I contacted these people, and they found a new home for him in FL, where he will live in his very own, predator protected, pond, and be cared for by a genuine turtle enthusiast, who is a much better caretaker than I could ever be. He was my first turtle, and I sort of "rescued" him myself. My friend's father had given him to her for her birthday (he was 2 inches in diameter then, and technically illegal), but she didn't really want him. She had him in one of those disposable lasagna tins you buy at the grocery store. And I thought, that's no life. So I took him home, and he grew and he grew and he grew. I learned a lot about turtles in the 5+ years I had him, but he still deserved better, so off he went to the Sushine State. I am happy for him. And I am equally happy that I never have to clean a turtle tank again!

Linda:
That pic is adorable - they look like they are all soaking up the heat from the fire. Jessica - I know what you mean about cleaning tanks. My son had an iguana and guess who ended up taking care of it. I am also glad that I don't have to do that any more.

Jessica,
What a thoughtful and caring person you are to make sure he ended in a great place. Bonnie, my sister in law had an iguana and it got really big; they finally got rid of it because he started biting:eek: no thanks, not a pet I am interested in.

Who knew????
My assistant keeps her daughter's turtle for her. She's had it for years!!!!

Seems like anyone who has a turtle eventually finds someone else to unload it on.

That saying also goes with the iguanas. He did get really big but he was not mean or aggressive. He could whip that tail though. I also had a cockatiel that I gave to my sister. We had him for about 10 years but my sister got really attached to him when she stayed with us and we didn't have as much time to spend with him as he needed so he has a really good home, new house and is looking good. My sister is happy too.

Jessica - when I was younger, my parents and I were traveling from my grandparents' lake house (a tiny place in the woods, not on the lake really) and we stopped when we saw a turtle in the middle of the road. We picked him up and took him home and I named him "Conroe" (the town where he was found). He lived in the backyard for several years and he eventually disappeared - then one day a couple of years later, he was standing at the back door! Then, not long after - he vanished again. Several more years later, my stepfather found an empty turtle shell under the shed - we guess that is where he had been living.
So that's my turtle story - not as cool an ending as Jessica's.
My Corgis don't live with other animals - but Rhys is fascinated by the birds that my mom has (2 cockatiels and a lovebird - she got them in January). The first night he saw them, he COWERED...then he discovered bird seed on the floor. That got him close...then he became fascinated with them, jumps on the cage to get a better look at them. Odd. Andy could care less (except about eating dropped bird seed - ugh, it gives them gas!).

I never visited her when she had this creature as she said she would often let him "roam" around the house and would follow her kids upstairs - no thanks, I would rather stay home.:D

Ok, I have Dillon and Gus the corgis, and they live with two cats currently, one is Suki (Maine coon mix) and the other is Ka-sea ( black smoke persian). Dillon also lived with a third kitty, misty, who went to the bridge on 12/19/06. so here are a few photos for you all:
this was Misty in her princess pose ( she was 15 1/2 at the time, a year before she passed):

Emilie,
I love those picturies and the fluffy kitties, my daughter would love one like that- we almost adopted one before we got Owen. And Misty was a pretty girl - sorry she has passed:(
I also love the picture of Toby and Fat Max. First off Toby looks so adorable on those stairs and I am wondering if he was taking lessons from the cat.

They are cute but short haired cats are so much easier, these two with their long hair can be a real challenge to brush... Ka-sea knots up like you wouldn't believe. i can comb her and she will have matts by the end of the day! Suki is not as bad but she has TONS of shedding hair... Thank God for my Dyson vacuume cleaner..

Do you ever shave them Em? My parents had a Persian, and they shaved him down in the Summer. He looked VERY funny (kind of like a cross between a lion and a monkey!), but was much happier!

Suki never, but ka-sea needs to be shaved down about once every three years... this year was her lucky year LOL - she looked silly...ask Deb, she saw her! but her hair is already growing back at an alarming rate! If we didnt shave her, she would become one big knot! actually, question for you jess, what did they use for their persian to keep it from matting up? any special matt breaking combs or grooming products? just curious

I think my mom actually used a human comb on him daily. He was one of those cats that always pester you for attention, so when he would do that to her, she would comb him. Guess he liked it, because he kept comin' back for more!

Emma & Chloe live with Raisin Baby... we also call him the Kitty Man and it is well documented he is a Serial Killer - no critter is safe in our yard including the Girls  when he is in the mood for red meat. Raisin is the only cat Hubby has ever liked - they even sleep together in the lazy-boy
Also we have their cousin Tubby Cat. He belongs to Leah and her Dad but Tub Tub comes to visit a few days a week so he can play outside safely here. Tubby is 1/2 English - they brought his Mom back from across the Pond and his Dad is American  Tub is a cuddler and loves to be on your lap

I love cats. Raisin can't be too dangerous, he is laying real close to Chloe :D Although Raisin's ears seem to tell me he is a bit irritated.
And love the pic of Tub Tub also with the cute marked face; I have two gray cats, but also my orange boy who has neat markings on his face; it just makes them extra cute.

Linda,
I wish I had pictures of Raisin and Emma wrestling when they were younger :D but we were too busy laughing! Raisin would have Em down with his mouth around her neck and his paws holding her down. And then we would see Emma just smile - don't think she knew how he could have just eaten her right then and there LOL Emma was like Kato to Raisin's Inspecter Clousoiue (?) always waitting till he wasn't expecting her then Em would jump out and they would go rolling LOL
When Raisin lived in the house full time he was eating soft food and living the good life, THEN I saw a mouse - in my house! Well Kitty Man went out the door, decon & traps went into place and we caught the vermin. But Raisin would sit outside the door till he made sure I saw him then he would bend down and bite the head off a mouse! This went on for weeks - he would wait till I was near then SNAP! He was taunting me - letting me know it could be me next...;)

Ace lives with his feline brother, Peiper. Ace desperately wants to play with Peiper, but Peiper is not too interested. Peiper basically just tolerates Ace. Although just the other day Peiper was walking through the room with Ace right behind him. Peiper acted like he was just nonchalantly strolling through when all the sudden he turned around and popped Ace twice on the head and then ran off. It was the funniest thing.:D

Linda,
Great thread idea! Milo lives with kitty Mieko, who just turned 1 this month.
He is a pill. I adopted him after a friend could not keep him but didn't want to return him to the shelter for fear he would be euthanized.
He was recently diagnosed with rhinotracheaitis, a herpes virus. Thankfully it is not transferable to humans or canines, or vaccinated cats. Because he was most likely a stray, he didn't get those early innoculations which could have prevented it.
So he recently had a bout of conjuctivitus and is on zithromax for an upper respitory infection. Thankfully he doesn't have a runny nose. He also has bowel issues, he has weird looking poo, so he is on a course of flagyll too.
I should rename him defecto.
But he is cute as a bug's ear and has tons of personality and is sweet natured as can be. He LOVES Milo and constantly kneads him and cuddles with him....What's not to love?
In the one pic, Mieko has dragged his bed from upstairs to downstairs...he likes to take his bed to where HE wants it to be. The second pic I caught him kneading Milo.

And didn't Ace like to chase Peipers tail also?

Lori,
I am glad that you posted this here, I just asked you in your intro post how Milo and the kitty were doing, but I can see they are getting along. I don't think Cody would let the cats Knead him - so that is cute that Milo tolerates that. And Mieko has a pretty face. I think Deb has a picture of Rupert being kneaded by one of her cats.
Also, I have a 3 year old cat that I adopted 2 years ago from the humane society (and didn't know he was sick at that time) He also has the herpes virus and ended up last year with a herpes infection in his eye which resulted in a corneal ulcer - It was nasty - we had to see a specialist $$$, as he almost lost his eye, but it is fine now. I have meds on hand in case it ever flares up again.
He also has IBD(Inflammatory Bowel Disease), but he is on a steroid for that, because with out it he vomits all the time.
Glad that all is well with your two.:D

Meiko is adorable- I wish my cats would be more friendly with the corgis... both of them would rather stay their distance than be kneading or rubbing on the dogs, especially suki, she runs and hides when she sees corgis coming. Now Ka-sea, my 6-7 lbs tiny persian, will only rub on Dillon when she has been herded into a corner, it is her tactic for escape, she walks back and forth and rubs her face and then back and tail on his chin - he gets distracted by this odd behavior and then she makes a break for it and gets away every time, he is left standing there in awe, like " hey...wait, what just happened? " Gus is very very sweet and gentle with the cats, he doesnt chase them around he just goes up and says hi really gently and ka-sea is not afraid of him, but suki still thinks that we have one corgi with split personality so she runs whenever she sees one... LOL

Linda,
Sorry to hear your kitty has herpes too....glad kitty's eye got better. IBD, never thought of that. We haven't diagnosed Mieko's poo problem. His issue is that he doesn't form a tootsie roll like stool. He makes pudding piles, thankfully only in his litter box.
However, sometimes he leaves butt rings on carpet, etc. That grosses me out. He hasn't done that lately but he is still on the flagyll too.
Thankfully he doesn't vomit...he has a very healthy appetite and I have him on Eagle pack dry kitty food. He is also on benebac which is a super concentrated yogurt to help his digestive system. Once he is off that I will give him vanilla yogurt.
The vet also has recommeded that he have a 1 capsule of L-Lysine mixed in his food, every day. It's an amino acid that has something to do with protein, and should help with his herpes. My guess is that it will help strengthen his immune system and help prevent flare ups. My vet did say that he will have this issue all of his life.
He also had a tape worm but that is gone and according to the vet that shouldn't have caused his diarreha. He tested negative for Giardia...thank the Lord. I just refer to him as my sweet defecto.

Lori,
The eye specialist that I took Ernie to also brought up the L-Lysine in regards to the Herpes, but he actually told me to give it to my other cats, rather than Ernie, because he told me it won't help Ernie to not have any more flareups but will keep my other cats immune systems healthier so they don't catch the herpes virus from Ernie -interesting topic; I may have to read more about it.
The way IBD can affect cats depends on if the small intestine or large intestine is involed - some have only vomiting issues, like my cat, and then your cat has the diarrhea(nasty, I know) - and according to my vet the only real way you can tell if a cat has IBD is through surgery and a biopsy or the intestinal wall- sometimes also with feeling their belly, the vet can tell if it feels "loopy" as he described it to me.
And the Flagyll I am assuming is to help with his digestive track also?
Do you feed Meiko any soft food? because if you do , you could add some canned pumpkin to it to help firm up his stools; if he would eat this.
Also, you can give a cat metamucil;(the unflavored stuff). Just mix the powder in his wet food or even the yogurt, and my vet said you can give 1 tsp for every 10 pounds. This may help with Mieko and his loose stool problem (but I always say to ask your vet to see what they think)-And you are right, the herpes is with them forever.

I am glad to hear that my house isn't the only house full of critters!!!
I have a cat named Ketchup- she is a dilute tortie and was a rescue that no one else wanted. she is a sweet little thing who loves affection. She is great with the dogs and will play with them when she is in the mood.
I have a bunch of little critters too-
-A leopard gecko named Dmitri, he is very cool and is a pretty friendly little guy. I got him when I worked at the petstore- he was not eating and was pretty sick. I took him home and he has done great!
-A newt named Jaws, he is horrible and will try and bite you (he's only three long and an inch wide)
Two toads who sadly don't have names (the newt and the frogs are together in a terrariam.)
I have two fish tanks with a bunch of fish and snails....
I also had a budgie- named Birdie who was very tame and friendly but when I started "fostering" Ketchup it was clear that either the bird or the cat would have to go- my sister now has Birdie and he and her little westie are best friends.
I used to work at a pet store- that sold reptiles and fish....it's hard not to bring them home. thankfully I no longer work there!!!!
