We had our first obedience class tonight. I am hoping that Doug will go back! Zia did really well for her 1st time. Zeke was a different story...he was scared to death! Doug did say that Zeke did good on his commands (sit, stand, down), but when it came time to walk (heel), Zeke kinda went ballistic. He kept trying to come to me and Zia (we/Doug-Zeke and me-Zia had to be apart in the room because Zeke kept trying to get to Zia). He (Zeke) would jump up and twist around and barked like crazy! Poor Doug, I know he wanted to crawl in a hole. I tried to get him to trade dogs with me, but he didn't want to. The trainer did tell us not to give up on Zeke because he's only 7 months old. He said Zeke would get it. Hopefully, with practice this week, Zeke will do better next week. Keep your fingers and paws crossed! There was a corgi there! His name is Tyler and he's 9 years old. He's a retired show dog. He was real light in color and very fluffy, chow like fluffy. The owner said he had a thyroid problem a couple of years ago and had lost all of his hair. She said when it grew back "it grew back this fluffy stuff." He was really cute and was checking Zia out.

The first day at school is always tough, he'll make friends then all will be fine, you'll see.

Kristi............Thanks for posting to let us know how the first obedience went......It sounds like Zia did very well and I am sure Zeke will come along just fine. Everything at the beginning seems strange.....but sending lots of vibes for lots of success!

Hang in there with Zeke - the best thing is that you are there and by working with him and trainers you can help him out. He'll get it eventually. He's a Corgi after all!!

Not too bad for the first day at school. Zeke is still just a young'un, he'll catch on. When I first started with Jackie I was SO frustrated! We had to stand very far away from EVERYONE else, because she just wanted to play with the other dogs (who, of course, all sat there like good little doggies while my maniac jumped around like . . . well, a maniac). Keep up the good work!! :CUTE:

Thanks guys! I really do think Zeke will be ok with this. I think I'll work with them one-on-one for 5-10 minutes each day and then together for 5-10. I will keep ya'll updated.

Susan - I am already laughing! Especially because this is how Doug describes how Zeke was acting last night..."Have you ever seen a kangaroo on a kite tail? Boing! Boing! Boing! That is what Zeke was like." He has told everyone this. :TWITCHY:

sounds like overall your hubby had fun, Zeke will figure it out, you two should practice together at home too so that Zia isn't such a big distraction for him. Good Luck!
