We had some friends over last night for a cookout in the backyard. We let Maya and Dudley have free reign of the house because they both usually just lay by the door. Apparently, when someone went out the front door it didn't close all the way and Maya took the opportunity to get out. I don't know how long she was out there, but thank goodness, for once, that she has an infatuation with the wood chips in our front yard because she didn't run away. Our neighbor ended up bringing her to us. I was so happy that nothing had happened to her and that Dudley hadn't decided to go out with her because I know they would have ran away if they were both out. A scary story, but a happy ending.

Oh Jeni I am so glad Maya was a good girl and didn't stray off. That is so scary. I always worry about that happening with the gate when we have alot of people running in and out. Give Maya a hug from me. :)

Jeni,

I am glad to hear that she is fine and did not roam off somewhere. I have kids in and out of my house a lot and I am always reminding them to close the door because some of these kids do not own animals. A number of times, my cats have slipped outside because the door was not shut by teenage guests.

Jeni, that is really scarey, and I am so very glad that she was brought to you safely! I would have totally kicked my guest in the butt!! Anytime i have anyone over i am so overly protective of the dogs, i am up with my guests if they come and go from the house because I am so worried that someone will leave a door open and away they would go...

Jeni - wow! I would have freaked out! Glad to hear Maya stayed in the yard and you were able to get her with no harm done. Now that your heart has stopped pounding a mile a minute you can thank God and give her a big hug!

Cheryl: I thought I was going to cry and probably would have if we hadn't had friends over...I didn't want to be a big downer  You can bet that she was snuggled until she didn't want to be snuggled any longer. The little devil ;)

I am so glad that everything worked out to the good. I would have been hysterical. Everyone knows that Maxi is my priority and would have either understood or not. I probable would have kept him by my side the rest of day. Most of our neighbors know Maxi and we live on a Cul-De Sac so unless he went down to the river one of them would have brought him back if they saw him, although I still worry about the river and the woods, we have copperheads and water moccasins:eek:
