Do dogs ever put it together that when they walk into the house with poo (or something nasty all over them) that they rolled in, they get a bath?

Two days in a row Lulu has been in the sink getting a bath. Two days in a row she has rolled in something god awful in the woods behind the house. Two days in a row I have got those "how could you torture me this way"? looks.

I suspect it is turkey poo, the turkeys love to parade thru the woods.

Driving me crazy!!!!!

Two baths in two days? I bet she smells good, after the baths anyway. (Times like these, I am grateful that mine are indoor doggies, LOL, don't know if I could handle all that rolling in who know's what. I do like the baths though, Miss Gambler's fur is soooooooo soft after and I just love cuddling with her and sniffing. Mojo smells good after a bath, but always has that underlying Mojo smell, but she also LOVES Miss Gambler's fresh smell. When she's on her back, she just buries her nose into Miss G's fur and sniffs and sniffs. I think that they like being clean, they just don't like having to go through the bath.)

Agreed! Mac was in desperate need of a bath and finally got one yesterday, too (there was always something getting in the way this past month... waiting two weeks after being neutered, going to my parents' house, getting his monthly advantix on time...). He enjoys the bathroom, but looked TORTURED again during his bath. Afterwards, and since, he's been in SUCH a good mood! You can tell it feels good for him to be clean :)

Ditto! After a bath Milo races around the house and is so playful. They must feel good. He rolls around and acts so silly. During the bath the look on his face is just pure misery.

I don't think they pair them together :o)
afterall rolling in stinky things is so much fun, how could it possibly result in a horrible bath???

I think the only way a dog would put it together, is if you see them roll in it and immediately give a bath. Though the ton of times I've dug out a stick from Chester's mouth, it doesn't stop him picking one up a second after. The joy must still be out weighing the hassle.

Be glad they roll in it and they aren't eating it!

They both needed a serious brushing so yesterday I had Tuck up on the picnic table brushing him out and told Lulu she was next. When I went to get her she was 4 colored.... black, white, red, and icky brown! Yuck!

Tuck wouldn't even go near her!

I am working from home today, Lulu thinks I am a doorman. So far they seem to be just playing in the creek and racing around the yard.

Crazy pups! I bet Lulu was surprised you even saw her - you know they are invisible when they stink!

Tucker got his neck washed! He got into it this morning! Yuck! But only a little bit\. So far today, Lulu has stayed out of the sink!

OMG Susan! At this rate, you will be out of shampoo soon! Is this their way of compensating for not being able to go swimming in the lake?

And the worst part of it is I can never catch them at it. Tuck was only out for a few minutes before we started playing fetch and I never saw him rolling in anything! It has to be in the yard somewhere because he doesn't hang out in the woods the way Lulu does. I am going to have to follow them everywhere. Driving me nuts.

Follow them with the hose in hand - then you can blast whatever it is and get rid of it!!

 And maybe THEN they will be able to associate the rolling with the washing!!

The hose is put away for the winter and the faucets turned off from the basement so they don't freeze. The two knuckleheads have been swimming in the creek. It is 35 degrees!!!! That water has to be freezing. My hands were frozen just throwing the ball!

Time to break out the gloves!

Yesterday it was 34 degrees when we went down to the lake and both my knuckleheads went swimming! People wre looking at me like I was horrible - the dogs were smiling and paddling away!

Isn't it funny how they'll frolic and play in the frigid water themselves, but the moment you wet them down with a not so frigid faucet they start to shiver and shake like they're freezing to death?+GOOFY+

Good point mtoy, what's the difference between a lake and a tub??? And with the tub, we even give them warm water. Crazy dogs LOL!

We had some pretty heavy rain last night so hopefully whatever it is is getting washed away!!!!

I do like the idea of the carwash in the new thread though.....
