We got a pretty good dumping last night and other than a light dusting last week, this is our first real snow. I must say that this is my first time in 24 years of not driving a standard - and dearly missed it this morning. I'll have to get used to front wheel drive automatic driving again.
We went and picked up my friend Susan and her dog Indy - Rupert and Jemma's best friend. A good time was had by all in the snow this AM.
The three Amigos sit nicely.

Beautiful pictures of the dogs having a great time Deb! It's easy to see that they really like the snow.
We had a light dusting last night, it was just enough for mine to at least run around on it a bit this morning.
Danny of course thinks it's for munching on.+LOL!+
And when he drops right down and just lays there in it, well he must have a very warm belly!+COLD+

Great pictures! I wish we could get a lot of snow here. We don't get much snow and when we do get it, it is usually gone in 24 hours.

Thanks everyone - it's been raining on that snow all day now - so things are quite yucky. But they hada lot of fun as you can see. They LOVE snow!
Heather - your photo of Mac with Santa trumps our snow photos!!!

Brrrrrr....seeing those pictures remind me of how grateful I am to live in the South!! I don't care for snow as they don't keep the streets clean and it's impossible to get out of the subdivision.
That first picture I love. Rupert looks as if to say, "Whaaat?" Indy looks like a pretty good size boy. What is he? Jemma is always a doll and compliments any picture whether alone or in a group.
Deb-When I use to shoot lots of slides in 35mm, I noticed when trying to shoot with a lot of snow in the background that I'd get grey or bluish slides back with slight underexposure. Trying to figure what went wrong, I found that cameras read all scenes as 18% grey...some clouds, people grass, etc are typical of that 18% grey. Anything out of that realm could come out either too light or too dark. I discovered that by opening up a couple more stops solved the problem when shooting in snow as the camera wanted to make the snow not white, but 18% grey so, I got underexposed slides. Opening the aperture by a couple of stop solved that problem. Those last two shots you did have more snow that anything else and you got slight underexposure because the camera tried making it the average grey. The first ones look good because the snow didn't dominate the photo and the meter saw more Corgi than snow. Hope you didn't mind that suggestion. I always metered on the snow, opened up two stops more than suggested, and recomposed.

Maybe...but it definitely doesn't beat thoughts of watching Mac explore snow for the first time :)
I just put up one of him with HIS best buddy, Oliver...my former roommate/now neighbor just sent it along via e-mail.

Gorgeous photos Deb, as usual, and I don't think that I have ever seen a dog pose so perfectly before, Indy should be in calendars!

That's so funny that you should say that about Indie - I am currently making him his own personal calendar for his Mom to give as Christmas presents - I hope to finish it tonight!! And I was posing him ,as I needed his January cold photo!!

He has the head tilt and everything. I always enjoy looking at all the dog calendars that come out this time of year, hubby and I spent some time doing that last night(bought a Miniature Dachshund calendar that actually had TWO months with dogs that resemble Mojo!!!), and he could easily be a model.

I love the picture of Jemma! What a pretty girl she is. And those are great collars.
We had another dusting last night but still not enough to really say so.
Agility class is cancelled tonight because of single digit temps. The building we practice in has some heat bu tnot enough to make it worth standing through 2 classes. Have to admit.... I am kind of relieved.
Susan (racing home to see if my calendar came!)

awww...c'mon Susan- that's why you have a corgi- they are great hand warmers!!! Our agility barn isn't heated at all (we didn't know that when we signed the rental agreement) and it isn't insulated either...So it's pretty chilly- but we warm up quick!!

Just saw these - those are great pictures, Deb!
I'd love it if Trevor could play in the snow. Oh wait. That would mean I'd have to live somewhere cold. +COLD+

My two got to play in the snow for the very first time yesterday (we got about 2 inches total). I think they were more confused by it than anything.
They would go out and sniff in it, paw in it....walk around, hop through it (well, Andy had to since she's shorter).
I made a couple of snowballs and Rhys got ready to chase/catch them. Then they hit the ground and busted! "What happened to my ball????" :BIGLAUGH:
They would come in and shake and be full of energy after our outings! I only managed to get a couple of pictures, though.

+SFIGHT+Welcome to the wonderful world of snow!!!!
ETA: Just make sure you clean any salt off their paws when you come in. That stuff is no good for doggies!

Yeah Debi - ROAD TRIP! +DRIVE+
Road trip indeed! Everybody to Merrie's house! :BIGGRIN"
But Merrie, you guys are on the other side of San Jacinto. I thought you always got snow up there. Crap, we were planning on maybe taking a snowshoe trip up to the mountain in Jan/Feb.

I'm at the lowest level on the mountain - the banana belt section of Idyllwild - 5100ft. Idyllwild is 5300ft, Pine Cove - 4 miles north is 6,000ft. Now the other mountain north - Big Bear is 7,000ft, they are the ones who always get snow.
We have never needed snowshoes - Pepper insisted on a shoveled path and pee area. We have needed ice traction for walking on the roads.
It is rumored snow at the 5,000ft level tomorrow!

Same here...Mac's starting to have fun in whatever's left on the ground...he HAS figured out you can eat snow, though!
I'm waiting for REAL snow to take pictures, though. As in, I need a SNOW DAY when I can really take Mac out to have some fun ;)

Hmmm, Link could give him a good lesson on that. Heck, Link could teach him to eat ANYTHING!
