This is what happens every time I bring a new bag of food into the house:

He's under the mistaken impression that HE owns that food. And he's not actually growling (his lip is stuck on his tooth!), but he does have his intent "mine" look.

Tell him that when he starts working for it, THEN he can claim it. Too funny!

Looks like he's got a boot to whack anyone who comes near his food. Cute pictures.

Funny! :BIGLAUGH: But I know that - if he could wield scissors, he'd be into that bag in the middle of the night!!

Great shots!
And he looks so serious about it too.

When I bring in the dog food I immediately put it into big plastic containers, with tight closing lids, and then into a closed cupboard. Just in case.

Barbara, remember to save the bags, if there is ever a recall of your food, you will need the info on the bag to check if your dogs have been eating bad food. (You may be putting the bag itself into the container, so just ignore this post if you are, lol.)

That's a good tip Delta. One of the feed shops here keeps a customer file with the UPCs of each bag of food bought. They use it for their loyalty program but will also contact each customer who bought any recalled bags. Great service!

We put the whole thing, bag and all into a big plastic bin. That way I don't forget what I bought last time.

I would love to shop at a place like that mtoy, what a service!

I usually do keep the bag, but I didn't think of that as the reason, and it certainly is a good one!

Until recently all of mine have been eating food that is only available through Canadian Vets, so I wasn't worried about the recall for us.

But a store keeping that on file for the customers is a fantastic idea, I'm going to mention it to the store that we buy Danny & Dylan's food from.

It's a great place. It started as an agricultural feed store when this area was mostly farms. The farms are gone but the feed store survived, now they sell a great mix of pet food (all very high quality), wild bird supplies, gardening and landscape stuff. It's very old fashioned, it looks like it's out of the 40's. The best part is it's only 5 minutes away.

Are y'all talking about the large plastic containers you can get at Wal-Mart? I've never thought of putting the food/bag in containers but, it sounds like a good idea to keep moisture out and keep it more fresh.

I keep the kids' food in a 20 gallon plastic container that I got at PetSmart - it was specifically designed to hold pet food and it is slim and stays out of the way.
Unfortunately, it still has what's left of the old food in it right now and that's why I can't put away the Canidae. Rhys is currently laying about a foot away from the bag again!! :BIGGRIN"

I bought mine at Petsmart, on sale of course, but yes David, you can pick up a bin at Walmart too. Mine have handles.

I don't recall seeing those at PetsMart and I seldom go to Wal-Mart but, I'll check out PetsMart after the mad Christmas rush is over with. I don't want to get close to any mall for the next week!! I bought another memory card, a Sandisk Ultimate II 2G card from Best Buy this week but, I got in via the Internet!! Got it in two days and no hassles with parking or traffic...my kind of shopping.:CUTE:

Here's my mall-vent story. I was in a store yesterday, not in a rush, and not too crazed, and heard a female voice behind me say "excuse me, please". I turned around, realized that she wanted to get into the aisle that was behind me that I was accidently blocking because of all of the other people there(I thought), so happily moved more than enough for her to do so. Second later I hear again, "excuse me, please", same voice. I turn and look, and then realized that she wanted to get PAST me, so I stepped to the side as much as I could(very crowded) and gave her room. The man behind her (husband?) said as he walked past me, "I was going to push her out of the way if she didn't move". I HAD JUST MISUNDERSTOOD HER!!! I was so upset, hubby lectured me and said "let it slide".

THEN, about thirty minutes later, we stopped for coffee and were seated. Two older teen boys had just been waited on and were walking away from the counter and almost when they reached us, one of the kids dropped the plastic lid off of his drink, shrugged at his friend, and they took about two steps away, to leave the place, leaving it on the floor. Hubby did not hesitate(he misses nothing and see everyone and everything!!!) and he LOUDLY ordered, "Hey kids, I know that I'm not your parent, and am REALLY happy about that, but pick up your trash, NOW." Let me tell you, you could hear a pin drop in the place, even over the loud music. The kid actually surprised me by smiling, saying "Sorry Sir", picked it up and trashed it. One of the clerks clapped. I looked at hubby and said, "let it slide". Just thought that I would share. LOL!

Well why ever not David?:TWITCHY:

I made the horrendous mistake one year(many years back) of forgetting a present and the only place I saw it was at Sear...at the Mall. It's not about 4:00pm on Christmas Eve. I went over to the mall to get the beloved gift and it was worse than the '82 World's Fair in there!! I'll never do that again.

Touche, MGM...that was great!!

Now, imagine having to be at work in a mall (oldest daughter is manager of an FYE store in MS) from opening until closing on Christmas Eve and the day after........not having any choice about being there.....

I worked for AMC Theatres for 5 years as a manager...imagine spending pretty much every holiday (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year's) surrounded by people...and of course, being griped at because "it's busy" or "why is my movie sold out??" or "why do I have to wait in line" and even more ridiculous things. Merry Christmas (sarcasm). Please treat customer service people decently, even if something is wrong. Most are trying their best.

Another reason to store dog food in a plastic container is to keep away from mice. For some reason they haven't bothered our bag sitting on the Nordic Trak (hmm shows how much the machine is used), compared to our bag when it sat on the floor. Or the mice haven't realized our house has dog food again.

At first we stored the food in a plastic container on the deck - HA - the raccoons are too smart whipping two lids off to get to the food. Oh to have a garage, sigh.

Fosters & Smith keep records of our purchases and that is why we went with them because when they recalled because their food was processed after a tainted company's, they contacted everyone who purchased. I want to be contacted next time, not find out two months later.
