The Pembroke best of breed was Highworth Cressida- my friend who went to the show didn't really like her- I saw her ( the winner not my friend) on tv and didn't think she was sassy enough- Sooty can wiggle his butt better. sorry if anyone who knows her reads this- it's only my opinion.+IDEA+

Here are the results

The cardigan was won by an American dog KINGSBURY'S I'M HARRY P
Maybe someone knows him? He was great and ended up third in the pastoral group.

How cool that Harry Potter won! I think LOTS of us know him here...he's all over the Animal Planet dog shows...he's a pretty famous guy.

Harry made Cardigan breed history at Crufts. His Group placing was the first ever for a Cardigan. This isn't the first time he's made breed history; his Group placing at Westminister a couple of years ago was also the first for a Cardigan.

His dam Maggie (CH Kingsbury Carbon Copy) holds the breed record for most Best In Shows by a Cardi.

Pretty cool! :BIGGRIN"

Any idea when Crufts will be on TV here in the US?

Well, many dogs in England are more "laid back" than here in the US. And they don't show like we do. Their whole demenor in showing is more "laid back". And wiggling his/her butt isn't what they're judged on. ;) (In fact too much wiggle might indicate a structure/movement problem in a show dog.)

Yup, I've heard of and seen Harry P. He's a very nice cardigan. And I'm glad he won!

Not in the shows I have seen here- the winning corgis have always had that extra 'attitude' I have never seen a dog show in the US so have no idea what the dogs are like.
Mind you all the shows I have seen are in Wales not in England.
And it would be bum wiggles here LOL
I Do know they are not judged on that- I was just trying to introduce a bit of humour.

I've not seen many shows in the UK either, only what they show on TV, usually Crufts, and trust me, they don't show like we do in the US. The handling is more laid back, the dogs don't have the "edge" or "annimation" we see here in the US.

Do you get any of the shows from the US on TV? If so then you can see the difference.

Even in the show photos. Scroll through these photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/crufts2008/2321043102/in/set-72157604075270984/
Look at how the dogs are stacked. Look at how Harry P (the cardi) is stacked. Shoot, even the grooming is different. The sheltie that won BOB at Crufts, well, he sure wouldn't look like the show dogs here in the states.

I'd bet there pretty much the same all across the UK.

Harry potter was at a show near me a year or so ago, and I was surprised at how much bigger he looked next to my Jax (I had him with me since we were over watching the agility)

I do get asked if "we're showing today?" which kinda amuses me. That and the quick glance at his backside to check for eligibilty. I love to go to dog shows, but I don't think I'd ever like to go through all the steps to get into showing. I just like Jaxer as a pet.

Now Peggy you are going have to come over for a visit so that we can go around the shows and have a lovely time. It would be a blast. Sooty and Cindy would be very happy too.:BIGGRIN"

Do any of the tv shows have CSI or crime or something lost in the title? then no we don't. Westminster is not even mentioned here. It's amazing we get 5 one hour shows from Crufts and those are geared to the popular dogs like Labs, Poodles, Rottweilers or Staffies.

Most of the European shows I've seen, which includes Crufts, International shows, a video of a CWCA specialty - the style and tone of shows and showing is much more "informal" and/or laid back.

Westminister, handlers are usually dressed to the nines (this year was an exception) whereas at Crufts or the International show dress was much more casual. The International show, many of the handlers were wearing something like what we in the US would think of as fishing or hunting vests which held the, bait, combs, brushes. National specialites are pretty dress up affairs too, not so on the video of the CWCA specialty.

Well, shoot! You are rather deprived then! At least we get Westminster (live even) and some of the other big shows, but not live. Even some of Crufts, again not live, but that's better than nothing.
