Need some ideas!

Not sure I'm posting this in the right spot... Every year our agility club hosts Fido Follies at our June trial. It consists of a team of 3 dogs/handlers running an unorthodox course - handlers may have to do the weave poles, you may have to throw tennis balls at a target, or lay on the ground and have your dog lick your face. We also have to come up with costumes, and this year the theme is Summer Olympics. Our team is 2 Corgis and a Beagle, but we are having a hard time coming up with costume ideas. Let me make this clear - none of us are wearing swimsuits! We were thinking maybe equestrian team with stick ponies, but we weren't sure what to do with the dogs. Any ideas? We have until June, so we're willing to put some work into it.

We did bugs, and bug catchers...It was great fun! I will see if we can come up with a picture somewhere.

I had found Kid costumes actually for the dogs- a ladybug, bee, a spider, a catepillar and a butterfly...

We were bug catchers- we had a net hat on, big butterfly nets, green pants/shirt type outfit.

It was pretty neat!

I'd say a tri-athlete, although now that I ponder it, it would involve a swimsuit... I'll keep thinking

You could pick almost any of the sports and have the dogs dress as the athletes and the humans dress as the referees or officials.

(FYI - football - is actually soccer for us North Americans)

So black and white striped shirts, whistles on lanyards, black ball caps and black pants makes you a ref.

Last Sunday The Morning show was interviewing a young man who was part of a women's synchronized swimming team. The team is competing for the Olympics but he is banned because he is male.

ANYWAY.... prior to the interview they showed the infamous Saturday Night Clip of Martin Short (and I still do not know who the other guy is) doing synchronized swimming: complete with nose clip, bathing caps, and life jackets. Every time I see it, it still cracks me up.

You could go as the SNL synchronized swimmers!

How about olive branches (you can even make these by tracing leaves and gluing them t oaktag) for headbands and Olympic medals? You can order plastic medals of all kids from Oriental trading here:

Here is the idea my friend came up with - The A-Frame Jumping Equestrian Team. Here is a picture of her dog in the costume - too cute!
