Lou Dobbs spoke today (mom relayed this): a Grandmother saw her grand-baby chew on a bib that she got a Walmart. For the heck of it she tested it with the lead stick and the bib tested higher than what is to be sold! Walmart only pulled the bibs from that state, no other state because people should know that plastic can contain lead! Yes, the bib was made in China. Turns out the only federal law against lead is regarding paint.

In the past I gave my dog a baby squeaky because it looked the same and sounded the same. I will be testing all plastic items that my puppy may be chewing for lead regardless if it is made for dogs or humans. The lead tester stick can be purchased at pharmacies.

Buyer beware. But I didn't know plastic could contain lead before today!

Merrie thanks for posting that; I remember hearing another story similiar to that about some toys that were distributed to children by a library somewhere?

Here is an article regarding lead poisoning and how it can affect animals.

Thanks for posting, Merrie. Hmmm, it would be interesting to get some of those lead sticks, as I do have young (5 yr's and below) nieces that come to visit, as well as concern for the pets (thanks for posting that link, Linda!)
