Sunday evening after dinner Danny and I headed out to a local farm, I was so glad that although it was chilly out, it wasn't raining. I haven't taken an outdoor course in many years, but I knew that Danny Boy would love it, and he did!
We did Hand Targeting, Stool Work to help with their rear end awareness, (& that's a lot of rear end with a corgi butt!) practiced having the dog run on either side of us, & not just the right.
Also Targeting with a small ball on a stick, we used the clicker a lot during the evening.
As Danny is only 9 months old and is not going to jump yet, he did Bumps. Half round tubes placed in rows along the ground.
The instructor gave us a Training Record sheet to note our Homework Progress. Besides that, we are to do 'Name Recognition', instructions:
1. Say your dog's name & pop a cookie into his mouth. Repeat 10X.
Good boy Danny!!
And the farm that one of the classmates was letting us use was beautiful! It was almost manicured. Little D's first visit to one as well, he saw a lama, goats, miniature horses, and tried to sample the goose/duck buffet on our walk to the agility course at the back of the farm.
During the time we were out in the back field practicing the neighbours herd of cattle moved along the fence to toward the other end. Danny stared at them all along their trek, and I swear the look on his face said that he thought he was moving them.
But then they came back he did a humph, as if to say, "Oh well, I'll go back to playing with Mum".
Really looking forward to this Sunday!
(And tonight is the start of Dylan's next Rally course.)
