I can't imagine anything more fun than a pair of chasing, frapping, snuggling corgis, but I have to ask...how do you stand the shedding????? Why aren't you ankle deep in floating dog hair? I feel like I am, and I've only got sweet little Sadie!

I took her to Petco this morning and now my car is fur-lined. Great if we're talking about a fabulous coat, but not so great for a Lexus. :NAH:

Then I furminated and brushed her (again) this afternoon. Our back yard now looks like we've had a mid-spring snow storm! :ARG:

How on earth do you survive multiple shed-monsters?? I know that you must have the secret hidden away somewhere! :NOTWORTHY:

This will be our first spring to have 2 blowing their coats. They haven't started yet. It should be interesting! Last year with just one I pulled out of a parking lot one time, rolled down all the windows and had my own swirling blizzard in the car! LOL!

I don't know if it's our climate or what, but other than what I call "elk-butt" - a condition that looks like an elk when it is blowing it's coat, my two don't shed much at all. I hardly ever see any of Rupe's black hairs. I rarely brush them either - I'm a horrible Mom!

Maybe it's the lake water???

I vacuum a lot, but not enough, you can always find dog hair in my house, my car, and on the patio. I try to keep it out of the food, though.

Danny doesn't seem to shed too much, and Dylan has all but stopped since I started giving him the Missing Link Plus a few months ago.

This morning I swept the floors, I vacuumed the floors, I washed the floors. The dogs were confined to a separate area while I did all this & then we immediately went out to the park.

When I walked back into the kitchen, I saw a wade of dog hair under the table.

I've had Sadie on Missing Link Plus for several months now and I can't honestly say that I've seen any difference in her shedding...she just sheds A LOT!!!!

Jax seems to shed less since I've started furminating him

Between my two, Andy sheds much less than Rhys. His coat is fluffier and thicker, while hers is pretty smooth.

In my case, adding a second Corgi didn't raise the shedding quotient all that much.

Duchess doesn't shed a lot either. Has anyone taken a poll as to climate being a factor?

how do i deal with the fur? Because I used to have Siberian Huskies. 2 of them who blew their coats twice a year and when they did.. an acre and a half turned into a giant white snow field/yard. And it was atrocious when they did blow their coats because EVERYTHING was covered. It was really disgusting to be honest with you. I don't know how the breeders do it with having multiple siberians in their house during blowing season.

Cooper's coat is nothing like the Siberians.. Hemi did most of the shedding when we had him. But now that Coopers adult coat is coming in it's becoming more of a double coat but still not bad. I just sweep up every other day. Kasey the lab is the one I'm interested to see how her coat is.. She already sheds at 3 months LOL.

Maybe i should invest in the furminator. Hmmmmmm

Cooper has a gorgeous coat.. but hates to be brushed!!! I don't know why.. I try to brush him daily because his skin is getting dry. :TWITCHY:

I have been very fortunate so far with Delilah. She hasn't blown her coat yet. She will be 2 in August. I do have a furminator (blue) (WAIT! It's at Cheryl's house! or still in her car!) and I have used it just to see how she would react to it. She's okay with it after a couple of minutes. She just hates sitting still for anything at this age. My other daugher, Cathy, saw how the little furminator I bought worked so well on her big black lab, Sampson, that she went out and bought the bigger one (yellow).

Nope, no secrets, you just comb more and vacuum more.

That is blowing coat. When it comes out in tufts. I tell mine they've got "fuzz butt".

Cliamate, time of year, amount of sunshine, hormones, genetics and if they're altered or not all are factors in how much your dog sheds or blows coat.

So which of these counts the most? We live in Texas - hot, sunny, dry, hot - and Sadie is definitely neutered (no more surprise puppies for me). Does all of this add up to super-shedding?? Because, I think that we could win any trophy offered for the most copious shedder!

Rhys had his coat blow a couple of months ago. Andy doesn't really do that - I don't get to run up to her and pull out tufts (surprise!) like I do to Rhys.

I think my two shed as much here in Virginia as in Houston.

Ack - shedding season has started here. I furminated them both outside yesterday. I was wearing black pants. When I was done I looked like I needed a furmination myself.:ARG:

:LAUGH:As for tufts, Millie just HATES it when I pluck her tufts. She tries to run away from me. I don't know if Link will get tufts yet...

Genetics is the main factor.

I've found with my dogs that those that are altered do not shed as bad as those that are intact. The very worst ever are intact girls.
