We may be out of the woods!!!

My vet called last night with the results from the biopsy and she was told by the lab that it was actually a piece of Cammies super-enlarged spleen that she took out, not her liver.

She explained to me her physical positioning when she did the surgery and how she didnt initially make such a large incision, she only kept getting it bigger until she could see where the bleeding was coming from, once she found it, she olny took about an inch of the organ out to stop the bleeding. Basically, it looked as if it was her liver because it had become so enlarged it was blocking, as in in front of, the actual liver. My vet was just so concerned with stopping the bleeding from whereever it was coming from and not losing Cammie.

Based on the results of the test, which i dont remember the exact terms used, but this could have all been a bad reaction to the anesthsia used. Giving her fluids both at my vet and at the Emergency center flushed the bloodstream and spleen of all the anesthetic and she might be just fine!!

We will still wait on the Von Willdebrands results to be sure...but we are very relieved at the moment....my vet will be calling us again today to see how she is and im sure will be happy to hear her poop is more normal than yesterday, as she was having some yucky ones and we might have been concerned but it could have just been what they fed her at the E.R. she also gave us her cell number for any issues over the weekend and we will see her again early next week to check staples etc.

But Cammie has really perkd up..she wants to play with Colby now and i think its gonna be tough to keep her quiet after a few more days...spunky!!

Thanks everyone for your good wishes!! We will be sure to keep you updated!!

Wow, wonderful news.

I sit here and realize I know about the liver, but I don't know what a spleen does?

Well today we have been keeping her quiet...we slept late (again!!) and we spent the day yardsaling, which meant her more or less having to stay quiet in the back seat of the truck, now we are having an afternoon nap and watching TIVO-have to catch up...we figure, if we stay quiet, she has no choice but to also stay quiet....vet will be calling again on monday to check in...heard from breeder that the parents and grandparents were VonWilldebrands negative so its most likely she doesnt have that...our understanding is that the blood goes through your spleen which explains how it got into blood stream when given anesthesia...continuing to heal up well here we hope...thanks everyone for your support...its been really helpful to know we have you guys...

The Caminator is back to her old spunky, spastic self...we will try our best to keep her quiet today but we will be outside a lot so it will be tough...but her incision looks great so i am not too concerned about it opening up again...shes still cautious about any jumping down which is good,...its just hard to keep her still...she wants to play with her toys and colby....but i am fairly confident we are well on our way...thanks again everyone...we wouldnt have made it without your thoughts and prayers....happy mothers day to everyone too....
