I haven't posted in a while because life has been awful for a few months.

To top off my pain, we lost our precious Sassy this afternoon, 5/9/08. She was 3 1/2 yrs old.

She had been having a problem with her eye earlier in the week. By Wednesday, it was bleeding. We took her in and the vet thought she has cut a piece of her eyelid and needed to cut it off. Well, after she was sleeping, they decided that she had damaged the cuticle under her eyelid and that it would heal fine. We brought her home that evening. Thursday she was still not doing well and the vet called and said she'd like to see her again. She thought that maybe there was an abcess behind her eye that needed drained. So they did surgery this morning to correct it. The went in through the roof of her mouth and drained, but didn't get much out. Still a bit perplexed, the started thinking it could be a tumor.

The checked her before going to lunch and she was uncomfortable but doing ok. When they got back, she had bled out and died. They think now that she had a bleeding disorder that they didn't know about. I remember when I had her spay last fall they said she'd bled a lot. Well, now I know she had a problem.

So today we will say goodbye to the only corgi I've ever had, and I only had her a little over 9 months. This is so sad and I know that the tears are good, but it's still just so difficult, for me and for the kids.

Oh Breezy, I'm so very sorry to hear of the sudden and unexpected loss of Sassy. I know how difficult it must be for you and especially your children.

It doesn't matter if you had her 9 months or years, you loved her and will deeply feel her loss. I only hope that in time, you will be able to find the room in your heart for another Corgi.

My deepest sympathies,

Deb

Thank everyone. We are looking into adopting a cell dog - one that is trained by the prisoners?? Anyway, she's a border collie, but still awfully cute. I hope someday to get me another corgi - maybe as a celebration of being a cancer survivor. I appreciate all your condolences and well wishes. I know many of you also have sweet corgi's at the bridge and they are all playing together there now waiting for us.

I am so sorry to hear about Sassy and the troubles you've been having. It's never easy to lose one of our beloved companions but so quickly, unexpectedly, and at such a young age is really hard. +SAD+ I know you all are feeling a big emptiness now. She was a wonderful and well loved dog who will never be forgotten and the good times you had together will always be with you.

Hugs to you and your family.
