I will put all of my precious friends who have passed here together... not presented in any particular order.
Dixie-Went to the bridge at 6 years old from uncontrollable epileptic seizures, even strong meds stopped working. It was a shock as she passed only 6 months after her first seizure. Now that I have corgis I have decided she is an honorary corgi. She was actually half/half chow/shep mix, but she had the same personality as my Pems.... and the softest, most beautiful deep red coat I have ever seen, with eyes to match.

Sandy- She was our "family pet" growing up. The first dog I can actually say I had myself. She lived a good life until 13 when she developed a rapid growing cancer and she passed within a week of showing the first signs.

Now the horses. I lost both of these at the same time to lightning strike. These two were inseperable.... to the end.
First is Beauty. Sadly, most of the pictures I have of her are from when we first got her. She was undernourished... and had a baby at her side. We tried to buy her baby too, but they wouldn't sell. She was a black Tennesse Walking Horse... and yes, when I get into horses again I will be looking for TWH because they truely are like riding silk. Amazing. I had her for about a year, and she was really turning into a terrific trail riding horse when the accident happened.
When we first got her... note how much her hip bones are sticking out...

A while later... still thiner than I would have liked, but doing much better. In the background on the left is Prima Dona (arabian), and on the right, ShadowHawke (Prima's son).

Now Shadow Hawke- As I mentioned, he was Prima's son... he was raised from birth with my family. I started training him and at the time of the accident he was 4 years old and I could already shoot a gun off his back with barely even a flinch. I could also take him on trail rides by himself and nothing fazed him... even a rabbit popping out of the brush at our feet one day!
This is me riding him for the very first time... he did excellent!

And one of my favorite pictures of him... he was a beautiful boy. Show quality for sure!

That's heart rendering, Cheryl. What a catastrophic thing to have happened and yet, nothing could have been done as nature signs on sometimes totally unaware. It looked like someone nearly let Beauty starve to death... no excuse for that.

Oh Cheryl, such beautiful animals they all were. How tragic to lose both horses to a lightning strike. It's scary how quickly things can change.

What a tragic way to lose your beautiful horses! :( At least they were - as you said - together til the end.
And Beauty died in a place where people loved and took care of her...it would have been more tragic if she had starved to death with whoever had her first.
