Who wouldn't love these?? I thought these were darling. Didn't get one or anything, but I LOVE browsing sites for fun stuff and good bargains!! http://www.petedge.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=6356&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=0&iSubCat=0&iProductID=6356

Okay, I admit it, I ordered some toys, chews, leashes and collars (various sizes), doggie bowls(stoneware), bandanas and a whole bunch of silly toys from all the sites you guys have been posting of late! (my travel trailer will be amok with the sounds of squealing toddler and puppy squeaky toys, giggle balls etc. We'll see how long that lasts though... )

Whomever sent me to that site "Pet Edge".... my hubby is less than thrilled with you!! :TWITCHY:

Seriously though, under the "Clearance" section?! Holy cow, they have a lot of good stuff and it's so INEXPENSIVE!!!!

I also ordered all my clicker gear.

Now I'm just trying to figure out what treats to train with. Yes, before you ask, I will be using mostly praise, LOTS of lovin's and some puppy kibble. At first w/ the puppy probably be getting just his kibble for "treats". Then slowly I'll add in other things, but only once we are home. (Anyone heard of Kong Tots? http://www.clickertraining.com/store/?item=newbrkongtots Are these good treats? No gluten, natural real meats, not greasy? ) I used a LOT of Charlie Bear treats with Corona and he really liked them.

What toys have you guys gotten that your puppers absolutely love??

Treat suggestions that are natural and mild?

What sites do YOU like to paruse regularly and "window shop" on?

Hello, my name is Anna and I'm now a puppy shop-a-holic. I HATE shopping for myself, clothes etc. (swimsuit season is coming... *shudder*)

But my daughter, my animals and for friends... +WUBCLUB+

I LOOOOVE the Kong Tot's, they're the perfect size for training Izzy and Frodo with. I like them much better than the Charlie bears because, with my dogs anyways, the Charlie bears were too dry and they would end up having a hard time swallowing them after a while.

As for treats when testing out the 3 D's of dog training I use the Natural Balance rolls or little bits of hot dogs.

Anything clicker trianing related I take a good look at, I use 2 different clickers for Izzy, Frodo, and Mollie. Izzy uses the i-click (it doesn't make as loud a noise and I think that makes her concentrate harder), Mollie also uses the i-click because the other clicker was loud and scared her. Frodo is the opposite and uses the clicker set out by Triple Crown (I usually don't like their stuff, lots of correction/pinch collar training) but their clicker is very loud and it holds Frodo's attention longer. Right now I'm saving up for the Clicker+

Oh and I recommend a treat bag! They're a lifesaver, it's made it a whole lot easier to train without having to constantly have a treat in my hand and makes it easier to wean the dogs off of expecting a treat every time.

I love doggie shopping (and it's probably a very good thing that I'm too young to have a credit card :CUTE: )

It looks really snazzy!

I figured, for a puppy just starting out I'd use the iClick, since it's a softer click and is less likely to frighten him with a loud noise!

I got the Puppy Starter Kit, since it was cheaper and came with a clicker: http://www.clickertraining.com/store/?item=clickerkits

Also, there was a discount on all of their puppy supplies (if it has puppy in the name and you use the coupon at checkout, you get some 15% off!). Anyway, at checkout, their code didn't work. I emailed the company right away and within 12 hours, they got back to me that THEY had posted the wrong code, they corrected the price on my order AND are giving me a discount on the next order for catching their mistake. Nice folks, they called me to apologize over the phone and see if they could assist me in any way!

I will have to order some of those Kong Tots eventually I think. I like using hot dog, but I save the really yummy treats for the appropriate training situation. At home, kibble. In the front yard, something a little tastier and extra excitement/praise. At the park with big distractions, chicken breast meat or hot dog and SUPER high excitement. I ramp it up to keep that focus depending upon the distraction level.

Cody's favorite toy is the Babble ball - he loves to push it around. Now if your dog is not crazy about toys that make noise, then this might scare them.
Balls in general, are his favorite toys and he has several different kind, laser ones, some with bells inside, and ones that light up in the dark, not to mention his soccer ball, and a Large Zanie brand tennis ball; Is he a ballaholic?TWITCHY:

Treat suggestions that are natural and mild?

Here is the sites that show the treats I buy for Cody. He has never had tummy issues with any of them. I cut some of them up into smaller pieces also.

Hello, my name is Anna and I'm now a puppy shop-a-holic.

It's hard not to be. See, my last Pem never played with toys. She was a rescue dog and I don't think anyone taught her to play and she never had any interest. So I made up for it with buying too many toys for Cody, hint, hint...I just sent a box full to MIL for her new puppy - and remember, keep any little kitty toys/balls away from the new puppy so that he doesn't try to swallow them and choke.

I HATE shopping for myself, clothes etc. (swimsuit season is coming... *shudder*)

I hear you, Make some of Deb's muffins.

I recommend a treatball - puppy sized of course. If you get him used to getting it when you leave him alone for any period of time, and then move on to the larger treatball when he's grown, he'll always equate your leaving him as a good thing. My two practically push me out the door to work in the morning so they can have their treatballs. They were sitting ready to go on the counter this morning and Rupe was boofing at them so he could get an early start on his!

Treat balls are balls with fake holes (or not) and one real hole that you put treats into, the dog rolls it all over the place to make the treat come out. There are different shapes, but I recommend round for rolling and one that does not make noise - for your sanity.

I have two of these, one for each - they come as a Jr. size too.

Rupert is absolutely obsessive about it - he won't stop rolling it until it is empty - it's his favourite toy in the universe - because it feeds him!!! He picks the whole thing up in his mouth and takes it where he wants to play with it - if it gets stuck, he comes and gets me with a look of panic!!

Every now and then I find his puppy treat ball under a peice of furniture and he has to play with that for a few days! He'll pick it up and plonk it on my lap with a look that says "fill'er up Mum!". He lives for his tummy (and mud).

THANK YOU I have been trying to remember Jeffers Pet that we had ordered from when Pepper was a puppy. I like to comparison shop. Turns out they have spf fabric for a kennel. Why or why didn't I think of pet supply for this fabric. I got a roller shade for my sliding door but wasn't going to pay $49 for a window that only would use half of it. I had search under patio etc never finding it at a reasonable price and here I find it.

I'm the yard sale queen of my family for the Memorial Day is a very big weekend. Little did I know I'd be shopping for my puppy instead of me. I went to the church thrift store today to see what to get before the crowds come in 2 weeks and found a pillow with a waterproof cover for 50 cents, and mind as well get 2 pillow cases for 50 cents each too. The waterproof cover I'll put away and would only use if my dog was ill. Could have saved me some laundry with Pepper. One shopper mentioned she buys baby toys for her dogs and thus my shopping list for the yard sale will be longer. Now to launder what I bought.

Basketball, leather football would be my real yard sale finds. Pepper loved the basketball and I'm worried with a puppy the ball won't outlast the dog. Leather football, deflated was her favorite chew toy. I guess an unlined baseball mitt might serve the same purpose, but have to make sure it looks/smells different than the mitts we use.

Definitely some sort of treat dispenser or puzzle. Trevor has the Twist 'n Treat made by Busy Buddy:

http://www.sitstay.com/store/toys/toysa.shtml

He also is obsessive about pushing it around (with nose & paw - cute!) until he gets every last morsel of kibble out of it. Also recommend the Kong Tots. Those are great little treats when he's in full-on beggar mode.

I loved the bandanas on that PetEdge site. I must get some for Trev when we go to the Corgi Meetups. Oh and did you notice the cute Pem "model" on some of the pages? :CUTE:

Yup, that's what I do. I also go by a ladder type system for the 3 D's (distraction, duration, and distance), if there is a level 1 distraction (which varies for each dog) then I will push the duration up to a 3 or a 4 (on a scale of 1-5). Or if I'm working on a level 5 distance, I try for a level 1 distraction and a level 2-3 duration. Then of course I have to write it all down in my handy-dandy notebook because I'm weird like that :TWITCHY:

Cody's favorite toy is the Babble ball - he loves to push it around. Now if your dog is not crazy about toys that make noise, then this might scare them.

When I was on my last toy buying binge I was going to buy a regular babble ball, but instead bought the "windy" babble ball:
http://www.alphadogtoys.com/windy_fart_babble_ball_dog_toy.html

Now of course I know this is a gross thing, but I'm the only female human in this house - believe me, the windy ball fits right in and the guys love it (more than the dogs).+SAD+

Link's very favorite toy in the whole world (other than a filled kong or treat toy or rawhide:TWITCHY:) is this disco hedgehog:
http://www.alphadogtoys.com/jog_a_hog_hedgehog_plush_vinyl_dog_toy.html

The links go to the site I ordered from, good prices and quick service, so there's another place to spend some time and $$ on!

With Dillon as a puppy he had a tender little tummy and mixing a bunch of different treats with different proteins caused him to get the runs... It was really awful, so his food was lamb based ,so all his treats for a while were lamb related... i got the new wellness chicken and lamb pure treats - they are like jerky and i also got the venison and salmon ones too ( now that the tummies are not so tender anymore, thanks to canned pumpkin) and they can be cut into tiny pieces... they dogs love these.. http://www.oldmotherhubbard.com/wellness/dog_wellness_treats_pure_rewards.html they also love the plato treats - the duck one is their favorite. Alaskan bear treats are good too.. I also cook up real lamb, or you can do chicken breast and offer that for treats too... i have used the kong tots and the dogs liked them but not as much as some of the other things i mentioned, basically look at the list linda provided, it really is comprehensive.

Oh and tell your hubby that i said sorry for giving you the www.petedge.com website LOL!!! :TWITCHY:

Favorite toys: squeaker tennis balls, squeaker football and the wubba squeaker by kong:

How funny, Cody does the same thing, rolls it and rolls it until he thinks the last treat is out(mom usually sees the very last one and shakes it out) When Cody's gets it stuck, he picks it up with his mouth and carries it back out into an open space - maybe he could teach Rupert that:LAUGH:

As someone with the same addictions, here is my advice . . . get a Disney Visa card. Then every dog item you buy with it will earn you Disney dollars!!!
