I love being able to still work with Dylan, he was an easy dog to train, a great partner in the ring, & we are having such fun as we redo things.
And Danny Boy is everything that I had hoped for when I chose him as my newest Ob partner.
I know I brag a lot about him, but he is such a marvel to me. Smart a whip!
Last week's class as I mentioned we were doing dumbbell work. His first one was a bit long, intentionally, and yesterday at the dog show I picked him up a new one.
This morning he did very well holding it and not rolling or mouthing it. So I knew that we had a good fit. It was warm out so we went into the garage and did a few jumps. Then I stood on one side of a jump and tossed the dumbbell over. I told him to 'get it', he did, and then returned to me over the jump. This was no small task!
Second time he went through the tunnel on his way back.
But that's ok, I rigged the tunnel shut and after his walkies and a nap we played a bit more and he is doing it pretty well for a dog his age.
We did a lot of ring socialization at the dog show, and had a great time visiting our human and dog friends alike. As did Dyl Bob.
Really looking forward to class tomorrow night. Wonder what new adventures we will share.

I think we should trade dogs for a week... you can train wild Jack and I will let the other corgis teach Danny how a corgi can take over the house.

Danny already knows how to do that Bobbie, that's why I'm training him!
Jack and Danny will be able to spend some time together at Grayland.

You have every right to "brag" about Danny - he's doing very well under your guideance and you should be proud. +1ST+

I second Deb's comment. Now, if I could only get you to run a boot camp for my wild child!

I guess I'm enjoying training with Danny Boy because he is so game for anything. No fears, no hesitation, just straight in & "Wow, look at what those dogs are doing, we can do that Mum!" And I have picked up a few things in the years I worked with Miss M and Mr D.
Tonight is class #3 and only two more to go after that in the series. Then as far as I know a late spring/summer break for Ob.
I'd love to take a Rally class with the instructor at our present facility with Each of the boys! But I can't see that happening. If only they started a bit later, it's pretty hard for us to make a 6pm class when Gary works until 5 and we have more than a 45 min drive.
If we take the summer off from formal classes we'll keep working on our own, and going to the shows to socialize. I hope to enter Danny in the ring to try for he CD in the fall, or at least in Pre-Novice.
Then there is mine and Dan's Seminar in April. And the Cascade Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club's Match in June. So I guess we do have a lot more fun to look forward to.
I'm a firm believer in that every interaction with a dog is important. We only train formally about 3-5 minutes once or twice a day, reconnecting.+WUBCLUB+

Thanks Amanda, I'm very proud of Danny, & he makes me look good, same as Dylan always has.
We just finished a Double D training lesson. I chopped and got all the things ready to make our dinner wraps for after class tonight. The boys did Long Sit Stays while they watched. Danny managed 3 minutes for the first time! (not the first time that we tried though) But Dyl decided his old bones needed a rest much sooner.
5 minute long downs were easy. No sniffing, but much drooling as I grated the cheddar.

Now Tana, I'm sure that you too have a kitchen that needs things chopped and 5 minutes on your hands.:BIGGRIN"
Shhh, don't call it Boot Camp, we are Playing! Priceless to see their faces when I tell them that the fun is over, after a lesson. (another mindset from the CU book)

I see a match in May on their calendar... is that what you mean?

Yes, sorry, it's May not June. Are you going Bobbie? We are planning on staying over here. Laurie is kindly checking it out for us. It's billed as being dog friendly.

No, I won't be there by then, and Candy probably can't do a sanctioned match anyway, since he isn't eligible for AKC.
