Okay guys...

We all know the basic vocab used for training. But what are your favorites? What tricks have you taught? What unique wordings do you use? Any secret codes or hand signals between you and your pup?

Tips, techniques or anything you had an easy time teaching?

Everyone here knows I am a BIG fan of clicker training. And my FAVORITE word with my last rescue, Corona was "Paw". This was a puppy (1 yr old, unneutered, Sibe Husky when I got him) so hyper, so rambunctuous.... the fact that I got him to focus on me and only me to give a "paw" and to learn "switch"... all within 1 or 2 days...

Never could teach him not to pull though!!! :TWITCHY:

This puppy, again I'm going the clicker training route! I'll be sure to keep everyone updated there. ROFL... sure you'll be sick of updates!!

Miss Gambler is terrified of the clicker, she will run and hide. Mojo will be stopped in her tracks, her little right foot still in the air, by the clicker, it really works with her. As for unusual commands. With Miss Gambler we have her used to the ASSUME THE POSITION command. That's for when her butt needs to be examined after a potty break, and she walks between our legs and stops so we can bend over and wipe her. We've done this with her since she was a puppy, and it's one of the few commands that she obeys everytime, but then she hates to be dirty. :TWITCHY:

I use the commands most used in school with Dillon, - Sit, down, stay, halt ( which really means sit) heel, front ( meaning the dog needs to come to you and sit facing you at your feet) set up ( i use the words and hand signals for this, and basically what i mean is go from a "front" to my right go behind me and sit in a heel position on the left- this has actually come in handy as a tool to get Dillon in "work" mode. Look meaning, lock eyes with me. The fun commands are: give me kiss, dance, roll over, paw, other paw, whisper (boof bark) , speak ( loud bark), wave, and "touch" which is easy to teach with a clicker- you can get the dog to touch your hand or an object by pointing at it and telling him to "touch"... it is useful if you are doing agility or CD/ UD where the dog must move away from you to get an object and return...

Paw is actually useful when trying to do clean up, ask for paw, clean it, then ask for other paw, and i get the other dirty foot!

Gus knows only sit, down and come... stay is a command that we are working on now...but it is slow going...

my favorite command is "Drop It" works every time with Chloe. with Em... well we love Emma :CUTE:

I like to use "off" when I want The Girls to get down from someone or something instead of using "down" so they dont get confused.

"Kisses" for ear licks... {breaking out in song} these are a few of my favorite things

Well, it's not really a word. It's the Ehhh noise. Ehhh means stop it, no, quit, enough, get out of there, drop it. Whatever you are doing you shouldn't be doing. I used it so much with my dogs that when I finally had a boy I used it on him too. Something hilarious about a toddler stopped in mid-stolen-cookie bite by the ehhh noise.
