Hi,
Thought I'd share a picture of my new baby. Her name is Callie. She's three mos. old. Looks like she'll be a sable. I picked her up when I went to Casper this past weekend.

I got her to show. She can start showing late Aug or early Sept. I suspect her first shows will be Labor Day weekend in Cheyenne.

Batteries in my camera are dead. And Jim didn't buy any when I told him to, so until I get more batteries can't do much. Sorry. Will work on that problem.

Thank you. As for Westminster...
1) I'd have to get rich. I don't have enough money to even think about going to Westminster.
2) she has to finish first. I've yet to finish one before age 2. So give me a bit more than a year. Like 2 or 3. (I live in "dog show pergatory" you know. No majors in Utah and finding them and getting to them can be a problem.)
3) Not sure I'd even take a dog to Westminster. It's crowded and noisy and you have to hire a guard for your dog if you need to leave her. Even to go to the bathroom. I'd want to go myself at least one time to see if it's a show I'd even want to take my dog to.
Maybe a less prestigious show, like a national? ;) (Which may be closer to you anyway.)

All of them. I've been to the one in CO, and the ones in WA and OR. There's a couple in CA I'd like to go to. And well the east coast is still kinda far away. Although Palmetto would be really fun.

Don't forget that in 2010 both Cardi and Pem National Specialty Shows are in Pennsylvania!
I believe the Cardi Show will be out of Gettysburgh (Eisenhower Hotel where the local Pem Club had their specialty earlier this spring) and the Pem Show is in Lancaster in the fall.
After seeing Westminster this past year, I wouldn't even bring the dog into the benching area. It was a mob scene.

I'd forgotten that. Must be kinda hard. I didn't have quite that problem. Jim had had pets and had a guard dog when he was in the Air Force too.
And I agree Westminster is on the I'm going to go list.
I want a full report when you do go! It's been my dream for awhile but it's so far away and not in a good time of year for traveling.

Yup, I know. Still a long way, but maybe....
After seeing Westminster this past year, I wouldn't even bring the dog into the benching area. It was a mob scene.
That's what I've heard. I've had dogs that could handle it, never get stressed about going anywhere, and some that I'd never even consider a show like that. Callie's too young to say what she's going to be like, but I suspect that she'll be one that takes everything in stride. She has so far.
Still I hear Westminster is stressful for dogs and exhibitors. And the needing a guard thing worries me.

I-15 runs through the middle of SLC. We're about 45 min. up the mountain (I-80) Although we're in SLC quite a bit, esp. on Fri. or the weekends. Keep in touch and let me know when you're going through. Maybe we can meet for awhile.

She's a sable. Right now her red is more fawn looking but I'm betting it darkens as she gets older and becomes red. Not a dark red but red. She's a classic sable though.

Peggy, she is beautiful! Utah isn't so very far from WA, maybe you could come to our specialty next year. Or the Rose City Classic in Portland? On second thought, driving from Utah in January probably isn't the best idea! I keep hoping that the Pembroke national specialty will come back out West sometime soon. I have dreams of all Corgi agility and herding.
Where does Callie come from? She looks like she has a great personality to match her looks.
I'm sure you will have a lot of fun with her!

I just noticed her face looked light, and on her shoulder in picture 2 (I suppose her left our right) was just a black patch. Will that blend in?

I've been to the Rose City Classic in Jan before. And VERY doubtful we'll do that again. Loved the show but the drive home was rather tense. We ran into a ton of fog.
I've been to the Columbia River speicalty before but have never come to the Cascade one yet. They're both possibilities in the future.
I keep hoping that the Pembroke national specialty will come back out West sometime soon.
I'll second that!

I got her from friends (breeders) in Colorado. However both parents are originally from Calif. Her dad is Ch. LS The Red Baron and her mother is Ch. Nebriowa Sophiticate. Baron has been shown as a special and I think was number #5 when he retired.
I'm sure you will have a lot of fun with her!
I'm planning on it! ;)

The cheek area, is that what you meant? She'll have cream shadings there.
And no the black won't blend it. That's some of the sabling. It's going to stay. I think as she grows the sable will come in more. Her red coloring should darken some too. That's been my experience with my other sables.
Here are some pictures of other sables:

Once you get him it'll be different. And remember you won't have to go through the teething, chewing, maybe not as much housebreaking.... There are benefits to adult dogs too.

Will you feel better if I tell you her puppy breath is long gone? She's 5 mos. old now and her breath is like the rest of my dogs. Not so nifty. She has a habit of picking up EVERYthing when I walk her on leash. Drop that! and taking something out of her mouth is getting to be the norm. ;) (And those of you who have dogs that pick everything up on walks can stop laughing now. ;) )

Something about puppies that just melt the heart.+LOVE+
Cooper is one of those who manages to find stuff on walks, especially crab carcasses the seagulls have dropped. he won't give those up, gobbles them down as fast as he can... a few crunches and they are history!

PeggyOh no I can't stop laughing. Though you made me realize the one good thing about rabbits around is less wood being eaten! Knowing you, you'll have the behavior beat before winter when it is a pain with gloves to get something out of a dog's mouth.

I'm glad to report there has been progress made and having to pull things out of her mouth is becoming much less frequent.
My next dose of humiliation will be next weekend at her first dog show. She walks nicely on leash in the driveway, but at 8 a.m., on grass in the cool morning air, some how I have a feeling she's going to act like she's not lead broken. Wish me luck, I'm going to need it!!!

Well, she didn't humiliate me! She did very well. On the down and back she started to bounce once and I told her "we don't do that" and started over and she setteled right down and trotted. She got Reserve Winners Bitch on Sat. (only one male and 2 females there though, three of the corgis entered were absent that day.) and Winners Bitch and Best of Opposite Sex on Sun. But only the puppy dog and she were there. No points all weekend for any of the winners. :( The other 5 corgis entered on Sun. didn't show up.)
It was a good start for her and she had a ball. She found a new best friend too. My friend Lori has a cardgian puppy she got from Debbie's sister Robin. Parker is a real cutie and he and Callie had a great time playing!
