The begining, just putting on some music and moving around with your corgi.
We started that way, after watch Carolyn Scott and Rookie abiut 12 times one day.
Then Dylan & I signed up for some classes, but in the mean time worked on learning tricks with 2 DVDs that I bought. Those were the came moves that we learned in class.
Not everyone that dances with their dog competes, but some do. Some enter live competitions and some enter by sending in a video of their routine. Some just enjoy the fun of itwith their dog!
Of all the different types of canine sports I have tried, this one is by far the most fun that I have had with Dyaln, made the most fun friends with and is the most flexable training we have done.
Here are a couple of links. Interesting reading, lots of contact info training/home lesson ideas & great videos too.

This is something that I am truly going to do, and it will even be good for her. We practically do it now anyway, I'll mix a cd, then we go crazy dancing, and I always play music in the house or car. I just did a really neat cd using that old standard classic by Franki Vali, CAN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF OF YOU, I love that song and put together a handful of different versions of the song. There was even a disco version, and a contemp hip-hop version!!! Miss Gambler and I have been dancing around to music ever since I got her. After seeing you dance, I just want to be able to make a routine now, and really test her memory, that's something that we haven't done. Miss Gambler is musically inclined, she just seems to come alive when music is on. We're going to do this, nothing professional like you and your dog, but just for fun, for both of us. Thanks for the idea, and for the info. (And I did get my husband to watch the video and he LOVED it!)

If you can have someone take short video clips of you & Miss G while you dance, it is a great training aid or you. And if you show me yours, i'll show you mine.

I called in a favor and I'm going to be able to get a copy of that song today, I can't wait!!! I told Miss Gambler and she's excited, mainly because it involves more clothes.

I have to confess I was excited reading the title freestyle for MGM, I thought, Miss Gambler and her dog are performing for the MGM casino show, forgetting those were your initials. Then I read on to think some day you might perform there.

We had a great afternoon yesterday. I picked up the music, Wayne Newton's version of VIVA LAS VEGAS, it's really peppy, and we practiced outdoors on the balcony, it's long. At first, Miss Gambler just looked at me like I was crazy(as did a gentleman in the next high-rise beside us who was also out on his balcony, and he either had binoculars or was taking photos!!!), then she just wanted to play around like we always do when I play music. (Geez, what an undisciplined diva!) When I FINALLY got her attention, and could control it for more than a second(because of all her tummy issues lately I can't reward with treats yet) she actually started to get it. I didn't teach her a routine, didn't expect to, but I did get her to actually walk with me at the right time, stop, then walk again. And she showed me that she has great memory skills, she was starting to anticipate my move and was really watching me closely, then she would get distracted. I have always wanted to do something with her, being a showdog was out, agility she would be good at, but not great, but this is just meant for us!!! I can promise you CorgiMum, if I can get any sort of routine filmed, I will share, I would love to have your advice, and thanks for the new addiction!!! As for the costume, I was given the name of a lady who sews costumes for strippers here and I'm going to have her make a showgirl costume for Miss Gambler. I am so thrilled about this, it's a lot of fun, and it's exercise as well. I suggest that everyone do this with their dog. Miss Gambler LOVES music.

I'd like to see someone do a dance routine with their Corgi to the tune of Little Richard's, "Tutti Fruitti"!!

David, snce the gait of the dog determines the tempo of the music, Tutti Fruitti I think would be better suited to a Border Collie.

I still have Mr. Sandman stuck in my head ever since seeing that Corgi walk around the pool to it on YouTube. Perfect for a Corgi's gait, went right along with that swishing bunny butt.

Funny you should say that . . . because I had Viva Las Vegas stuck in my head all day yesterday!
