It has been a whole year (http://manymuddypaws.blogspot.com/2008/08/sam-great-dog.html)since I made the very difficult decision to euthanise Sam. It was a good decision for him, although it broke my heart. I couldn't stand to see him suffer anymore.
I still miss him everyday, but I remember him with a smile and not tears. He was a great dog, one in a million, and I was very lucky to have him.

(((HUGS))) Your decision was right, and I know how painful that was.
I was thinking of him just the other day, and I never even knew him, that says a lot for the kind of wonderful dog he was. +WUBCLUB+

Aww, I wasn't here when you had Sam. But he looks beautiful. And you know he's not in pain, and playing now at the bridge with everyone elses corgi's and animals!

Wow Amanda, I can't believe that a whole year has passed.
I always enjoyed reading about Sam I Am. Take comfort in knowing that he's playing happily at the Bridge right now. +WUBCLUB+

Sam is busy showing Zack the ropes up at the Bridge. He knows you still love him and always will love him. My thoughts are with you on this difficult day.

Our thoughts go out to you. I hope Sam has met our beloved Cody who went to the bridge 4 years ago this month. I still miss Cody. He was also a "best ever" dog.

Oh Amanda... has it been a year? I think of Sam often, he was a good boy. SO glad he didn't spend another year suffering the pain.

I hope that Sam is playing with our Thomas & Miss Montrose.
The little wallet type card that our Vet sent us when we had to let Monty go to The Bridge sits up here at my desk so that I see it always, this is what it says.

{{{{Amanda}}}} We do everything that we can for them, including letting them go when its the best thing for them, and we never forget them.

Hugs to you! Of course it gets easier, but you never forget.
I still miss my Airedales, Lilly and Winston - they were the first dogs I lost as an adult. They both lived full, long lives, but it is never long enough.
A friend of mine gave me a windchime when each dog passed away. I have both of them hanging on my deck and when I hear them chime, it makes me smile.
Our vet also gave us some nice jar candles with a beautiful poem on them. It's a tear jerker for sure (so be warned!) .
"Grieve not, nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you...
I loved you so... 'twas heaven here with you"

Sam was such a beautiful boy and a beautiful spirit! Doing the right thing isn't necessarily easy for us, but they appreciate our courage to do so. We could see that when we took Megan. Enjoy the wonderful memories you have, the tears are a testament to their importance.+WUBCLUB+
