Lulu is now a year old, I brought her home at 13 weeks last summer, the end of July. I live on a lake and Tucker loves the water and loves to swim.
So first thing, I bought her a life jacket and took her to the water and just let her go. She would wade in and that was it. She really didn't like it and was very uncomfortable swimming when her feet didn't touch the botom. I didn't push her and she wouldt tolerate spending time down by the water. But never really swam.
Tonight I put on her new pink polka dot life jacket and took the two of them down to the lake with one of her favorite toys.
She swam!
And the funniest part..... she had no clue what to do w/ her tail!!!! All the dogs that come to the lake to swim have tails and they supposedly use them to swim.
Lulu, Miss Hold My Tail Too High, is swimming with tail held over her head. If I wasn't so thrilled that she was swimming, I would have cracked up!
She went out and turned around. One time she got caught out a bit too far w/ Tucker and looked a bit anxious, but she paddled to shore then went back out.
It is a relief because friends come over with their dogs for serious games of water fetch and if she doesn't like the water, she is going to be left out.
