Take a look at this webpage:

Here's the highlights:

23. Pembroke Welsh Corgi – Many Corgi owners may be described at witty. They are intelligent people with a dry sense of humor. They are studious and work hard but also love to play. They are quick to laugh and eager to make others feel comfortable. Favorite TV show: Anything on BBC America.l

I love the description, except for us having a dry sense of humour? Obviously they haven't met the whole bunch of us here eh? (& I'm not sure about the fav tv show though...hahaha!!!!!)

Oh, I was thinking of getting a french bulldog too...haha. Hmm, guess that really talks about this nutty family. :P

I love BBC America! But don't get it.... I swore I didn't need full blown cable TV and I really miss it.

And what's with A&E and PBS? They don't air the british mysteries anymore. I loved A&E's Mysteries to Die For and things on PBS like Hetty Wainthrop, Mis Marple. Yes, I have become my mother.....

That's us! maybe the cardi people have the slapstick humor??

except I lean towards CNN, C-Span, CSI, 24, Criminal Minds, Ghost Whisper, Discovery, TLC... but do love a good BBC Mystery.

Oh, I was thinking of getting a french bulldog too...haha.I can't see the link but french bulldogs are incredible personality. They can make a rott back down with their "I rule the world" natural attitude. They are funny.

I love History, HGTV and Speed (car fix-it) channel.

Interesting! The dry humor and studious parts are spot-on. I like BBC America, too.

And Susan, I agree with you, whatever happend to the old British Mysteries; Miss Marple, Poirot, the series on PBS that Diana Rigg used to host??? +SAD+

I love BBC Canada! And not more than 20 minutes after I read this post last night, I flipped channels, and guess what was on...Mysteries to Die For! I had neve seen it before. It was great. "Ann Heart-something'. Thanks for the heads up on that show, will be watching for it now.

I love the British thriller mystery shows and movies - especially the really dark scarey ones. But I love British comedies the best - I am a huge fan of Ab-Fab - love French and Saunders and anything they have done together or separately. I can watch Dawn French in the "Vicar of Dibley" over and over again.

I grew up in a very British household and my grandmother was as British as they come - with a wonderful wicked dry sense of humour - probably where I get mine from!

Sweetie Darling! Those two were the BEST! ! :BIGLAUGH:

But on the other end of the humor spectrum, did you like shows such as "Keeping Up Appearances"?

Alright Debi!!!!! Haven't found too many Yanks who enjoy the humour from AbFab!

I never got into Keeping up Appearances, but I have seen it and found it amusing.

AbFab!!!!! I loved it! They were the funniest pair. I loved the show when they went to India.

What was that show about the middle aged men?

And Debi: I love Diana Rigg. So this will totally date me but when I was little, I wanted to grow up and be Mrs. Peel (The Avengers - the original!!!).

Mid Summer Murders, Diehl & Pascoe, and Inspector Morse!!!! I actually cried when he died.

PBS now does these Inspector Lindley series but just not the same as Hetty Wainthrop.

A&E used to have those shows on Saturday night. WOrth staying home for.

And the A&E version of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth will always be my favorite!

Although..... PBS has done 2 movies of Tony Hillerman about crimes solved on a Navajo reservation. They are supposed to have a 3rd in the works. RObert Redford was behind the first one.

OMG Susan - the one where they went to India and the one where they went to France and stayed in the caretakers cottage by accident was hilarious!!! I loved AbFab!

I do remember the Avengers, but not sure about being Mrs. Peel, never had the bod and never will!!!!

I loved the British tv shows from the 90's - Hamish MacBeth, Cracker - my favourite, and McCallum. Also as a huge fan of the English writer Minette Walters - the movies they've made of her books have been great.

I didn't know they'd made some of Tony Hillerman's books into movies - I'll have to try and find those.

We love & watch all the British shows that have been mentioned, except I have never heard of AbFab. Pleeease tell me what it is!

How about the Royles, Rosemary & Tyme, As me Goes By & the two girl detectives, I can't remember their names , Silent Witness, & also Waking the Dead.

Anybody watch Corry? I do, have been for almost 38 years!

My neighbour is from Yorkshire, so we also watch HeartBeat, (love the music!) and she says I must start watching Eastenders too.

Vicor of Dibly, no, no, no, no, Yes!

Barbara,

Ab Fab is short for 'Absolutely Fabulous' & it did air for a brief time on the Comedy Channel a few years back. Now you can only catch it on BBC America...WHICH I LOVE!!! I think you could rent it at your local video store. Won't bet the farm on that, but you never know!
I just love the two main characters, they are so irreverant, never politically correct and always funny! It chronicles the adventures of 2 middle aged women who are terminal fashion victims, forever trying to be hip and young. One has a daughter that is normal and sensible and ends up in the mother role. They both drink like fish, and hilarity ensues when they get together.

Love PBS, A&E, National Geo, Discovery Times and Science channels! (Just recently got a free trial of Digital Cable a few months back and really like some of the channels, so of course now that they hooked me i'll sign up for it). :BIGGRIN"
I wish there was a Corgi Channel! If I ever rule the world, I will demand a Corgi channel and call it the BB channel (Bunny Butts). HA!

Deb,

OK, if there is ever one-giant Cool 2b Corgi party, we'll have an underlying Ab Fab theme, for sure! (I'll bring the Boli & the Stoli  )

Susan,

Hehe, we must be the same age. When I was a little one, there was NO ONE cooler than Mrs. Peel, in her skin suit, karate chopping all the bad guys! (Deb, I know what you mean about not having the bod  )

Barbara,

Here you go - use this Wiki as your first "Ab Fab tutorial."

Yes, all the AbFab episodes and specials are on DVD and you can rent them at the big chain video stores - start with season 1 or you won't have a clue!!

The series came out of a skit that was based on the daughter being boring, rule oriented, dull and very proper and the Mum being a drunken, pill-popping, tarty irresposnible nutcase. It's worth renting for sure!

Barbara - do you remember the Vicar of Dibley epsisode when we met the wife - yes, yes, yes, yes, no!!! Great show!!

Debi - we will get together someday and it will be Absolutely Fabulous for sure!!!

Anyone watch... MI-5?

http://www.aetv.com/MI5/index.jsp

*swoon* GREAT show, but I always caught the episodes out of order!!

And I loved Murphy Brown as a kid. Unfortunately, they only released the 1st season on DVD and aren't releasing any others. :( Low sales.

I may have wanted to grow up and be Mrs. Peel ( who does have the body???) but Murphy Brown was my role model!!! I will always be a Candace Bergin fan.

The ultimate perfection in casting was Colleen Dewhurst playing Murphy's Mother. Perfection.

My other favorite show will always be Newhart (the series set in the Vermont Inn with Larry, Darry, and Daryl!!!). But back to the BBC....

I have read several if Minette Waters books. She writes some great things. One of the Mysteries to Die for was about a coroner.

And what about Helen Mirren in Prime Suspect???? She is such a great actress.

dcole

Murphy Brown - two thumbs up, for sure!

And no, we can't leave "Queen" Helen Mirren off our list of Bristish Favs. I absolutley loved the Prime Suspect series, especially the first season. In fact, they're in my NetFlix queue right now - it's time to re-watch them.

I have never read anything by Minette Waters. Sounds like something I would be interested in.

And Mrs. Grace, I'd forgotten all about MI-5! I only saw a handful of those shows but they were good. Seems like the series didn't last very long, at least around here...

Sadly, the reruns of Absolutely Fabulous were on a little before my time...maybe I need to watch now on BBC America - I didn't know I could catch it there!

And, erm, if we're talking about British Humor (Humour?).....why has no one mentioned Monty Python?!?

Another BBC mystery fan - from the ones mentioned on PBS to the A&E series. (I also liked the A&E Nero Wolfe series.) Midsomer Murders, Poirot & Sherlock Holmes all moved to the Biography channel and was my favorite to spend quiet Sunday afternoons and nights. They're now on on Saturday afternoons on the Biography channel.

Also an Avengers fan, AbFab is just a hoot and Mystery Monday on BBC America is a favorite. Loved all the Prime Suspects and Cracker. MI-5 was good. Brother Cadfael, Dagleish, Rosemary & Thyme ...

That, sir, is a dead parrot...he's joined the choir invisible!

Nudge, nudge...wink, wink.

NOBODY expects the Spanish Inquisition...it's the element of surprise.
