Back from our ShowN Go and totally exhausted, me and the dogs. I was very proud of Rudy's agility today. He has only ever done agility at the arena where we train, so it was nice to get him in a different environment. The jumpers runs were in the practice arena at Argus Ranch, which is a very tough environment for easily distracted Corgi boys! There are sometimes cats in there and pigeons that nest in the rafters. It is covered but open on the back side where there is a pasture with horses about 20 feet away.
So I put Rudy on stay at the start line and lead out past the 1st jump. When I turned back he had a small feather stuck to his lip -Busted! for sniffing around while mommy wasn't looking! :BIGGRIN" We managed to get around the course with some stopping to play and treating. He was clearly on sensory overload, so we did not spend our entire allotted time out there. He did some good things, we ended on a postive and that was it.

His standard course run was in the main arena where they hold the trials. Still new and interesting for him, but not as challenging as the first run. I didn't bother to walk the course they had set because I had certain things I wanted to work on with him vs running a course. He had a very lovely stay at the start, and other than running around a couple of jumps, did really well. He even surprised me at the finish by going to where his leash was and sitting next to it! Where in the world did he learn that??

I think the Show N Go was pretty successful for the club today. This is our major fundraiser of the year, and I was disappointed that not many of our club members showed up to help (including half of my fellow board members "NO:":). I did not sit down once from the time I got out of my car at 7:00 this morning until I got back in my car to go home at 5:00!

Sounds like it was a wonderful day! So wish that we could have been there too, would have lived to see Rudy running.

A feather ? He must have looked very cute!

Hope to get down to Argus Ranch sometime in the future, when it's warmer. Maybe a Fun Day?
