Yesterday I noticed that Zeke was a little swollen in his manly area. I did have Doug look at it and he said it was "just a normal dog knot." This morning he wasn't swollen but he is again tonight. He was neutered at 7 months old and will be 3 in February. Is this normal? I'm going to call my vet first thing in the morning.

NO dumb questions!!! Dillon is neutered... so is Gus.. both will wake up from naps occasionally with umm morning wood. ( can i say that here? ) I think Doug is right... nothing to worry about with that unless the lump/swelling is consistant and permanent... then i would worry... but if it comes and goes... well that would be totally normal ...

Emilie is right - no stupid questions here! That's why we're here.
I've noticed that sometimes Rupert has the same issue, it seems to be natural. I think if your vet will speak to you on the phone, it's always worth the call. If you do call, please let us know what he/she says.

Yep... Checkers gets that occasionally too... and he has also been known to "Phantom mate" (best way I can describe it) first thing in the morning too. He'll do that about 2-3 times a month. It's so sad to see because once it starts he can't seem to stop it... I have to wait for it to pass before he can get up and come downstairs with the rest of the family.

Ya'll have made me feel better. I just kind of freaked me out because I've never noticed that with Zip before. I didn't call the vet yet, it's been a very crazy morning! I am taking Zeke and Zia in this afternoon to get their nails clipped so I'll ask him about.
Well, from living with a bunch of males I'm thinking that it's just that normal male thing going on too. I've seen it on Link too.

Gizmo gets a knot between where his man area would be (he's fixed) and his peepee. And it usually swells when he has to go pee. I thought it was something after he got fixed. But the vet said it was fine. It gets about the size of a small lime sometimes. Usually right after he gets up.

Ok, the vet did say it was normal. I was really embarrased to ask him that question! +EMBARRASED+ I do feel much better, though!

I'd rather be embarrassed than have my dog in jeopardy, Kristi - you are a good "Mom"! +TUP+

I agree 100% with Deb, much better to ask questions & have our pups safe.
I've asked our Vet some 'strange' questions over the years for sure.
