Our bestest Corgi pal is Rupert's BFF Indie, the blonde Portuguese Water Dog. He had a health scare this past summer, they thought he had a brain tumour and now they think it may have been meningitis. he was treated with steroids and antibiotics and he's doing pretty well now. He has to get his figure back from the prednisone, but he's running and playing again which makes us all happy.
Rupert and Indie always great each other like long lost brothers - I tried to get it recorded, but it wasn't the most spectacular of greatings last Saturday.

Awwww. Nice to know that Rupert does have his good buddy doggy friends.
Was that Miss Jemma peeking up from behind the big rock? That was so cute!

I may have posted these before...there's no new ones at my fingertips today...but here are Hank and Sadie in their backyard kingdom:

And, surveying their domain in peace - squirrels are at bay, at least temporarily!

Midge is asking if you've ever tried making dehydrated cheese in that thing. (I'm sure she's thinking about the yak cheese treats another post today.)

No Midge, we haven't tried cheese to make the Yak treats. Yet.
Danny here...We do still have one of the Yak treats that you brought us. It's way up in the cupboard for a special day. Mum hid it after Dylan chewed way too long and way too hard on his piece & broke his old tooth. She says I can have the one that's left all for myself one day out on the lawn.

Hey, Danny it's me, Midge!
Poor Dylan! They are easy to get carried away with, aren't they? Jane's going to lunch near that pet store where they have the yak cheese and I hope she brings me home one!

All great Photos, especially the kissin' cousins, and I did enjoy the Rupe, Indie, Jemma video.
This is Abby's newest friend!!! His name is Andy, R&W Fluffy, he is from the old country.... born in England and later migrated to Australia. He comes only occasionally for an early morning walk along the waterfront, and we get so excited when he is with us that I have not yet found out any more details.

Here's Midge with her pal Mei Mei at the beach last summer. Mei Mei's an interesting looking mix - Australian Sheppard and American Bulldog.

A day late but better late than never!

Holly has been great with Grommet who has done plenty to try her doggie patience.

That is too cute. Grommit and Holly look so cute together, that second photo is hilarious though... the look on their faces is just too funny. Grommit is adorable.. he is so fuzzy and sweet looking ( until he has a mouthfull of Holly's ear! ) :TWITCHY:

Loving the photos of Grommet and Holly! LOL Sweet and funny.
In all of his furry cuteness, Grommet is getting away with his puppy antics! I agree, she should be Saint Holly for her patience with her new baby brother

OH! That's not cheese, Grommet. :) Saint Holly is right. I love the look on her face of "Really? He's biting my ear?"
Glad to see Zeke wasn't chewing on the toad!

I have this theory that corgis get away with more naughtiness just because they are so cute, even as adult dogs. This of course ca lead to less than cute behavior at some point.
Holly, up to this point, has done a good job of giving Grommet "what for" when he gets too rough but the last day or so his size is starting to win out over Holly's so Debbie and I are beginning to intervene when Grommet gets too rough.
As a puppy he has to be taught the rules of play and Holly doesn't always have the size and strength now to be the enforcer. She's no push over though, she's quicker than he is and lets her doxie temper show sometimes and Grommet will back off if she really gets in his face. Regardless, all indications are that they are becoming pals, something about which we are really happy as our previous corgis, W&T, never really befriended Holly when she moved in.

I noticed in the photos that Grommet is outsizing Holly. Bless that Doxie temper in this case as she can get her point across to Grommet to cease and desist, he has crossed the line. Hope the budding pal-ship will continue to develop. Life will be easier for all concerned! I am still a "moosh" when I see pics of Grommet. He is so darn cute. :CUTE:

Holly is about six years old so she's mature and settled. At 13lbs she unweighed Grommet the day we brought him home and he's gained a couple of pounds more since then. However, Holly is amazingly strong for her size and almost as agile as a cat. We'd never actually seen Holly get mad before, she was way at the bottom of the pecking order when we had the two other corgis but with Grommet she sees her chance to be the alpha dog so she's using her experience, quickness, and sometimes her temper to her advantage for now. To say that sweet little Holly surprised us with her mini-doxie fierceness would be an understatement. She's not been mean to Grommet at all, just willing to let him know what's acceptable and what isn't, which of course is what older dogs do with younger ones. Certainly by the time Grommet is an adult she'd be no match for him if they really got into it but we're hoping by then they will have resolved any doggie hierarchy issues without a big scene.

Holly will be good for Grommet to learn from. She'll teach him manners and social skills that will really help him along. Grommet may not be trying to establish himself in the order as much as he is just being a puppy - a wild child. He will probably find comfort in having another dog to give him his boundaries - even if at times it's a little chaotic. :BIGGRIN"
