We don't have all the details yet, but here is the basic info.

Thursday night: Club hospitality on the show grounds around 7:00pm, guests welcome
Junior Handling workshop with John Wilcox (I wish I could disguise myself as a Junior handler for this "NO:":) Time TBA

Friday Specialty show starting at 8:00 am
Judges:
Puppy Sweepstakes and Working Sweepstakes - Sue Vahaly
Regular Classes : David Guempel
Rally/Obedience: Jill Jones
Junior Showmanship: John Wilcox

Premium will be posted at barayevents.com

Friday night: Club Banquet and silent auction
Guests welcome, reservation info later

If anyone is thinking of coming, it really is fun. Lots of Corgis, and a really nice show site right on the water.

I'm hoping to enter Bella (and possibly Rudy) in the Working Dog Sweepstakes and also Bella in Rally! Barbara and Danny will be in Obedience (maybe Rally too?).

Straight AKC Ob for Danny & I this time Laurie, we'll leave the Rally for you and Bobbie. You could do some practice runs at Grayland.:BIGGRIN"

that's not a bad idea, I'll bring my signs. :BIGGRIN"

It's helpful to have someone watch me and tell me what we're doing wrong. I just e-mailed my friend Debbie who is my local Rally expert to see if she can e-mail me some novice course maps to practice with.

Well, after much drama and many e-mails this week - we have lost our show site for our specialty this year! The hotel has been very difficult to deal with for the last couple of years and we were planning to move to a different site next year. Last year they booked a basketball tournament on the weekend following our show (which is on Friday) and they blocked off the whole parking lot setting up for it, so we had no parking. This year they booked a car show which is taking up part of the lawn area where we have our show. This would push us onto a sloped section and give us very limited space. They basically had 2 signed contracts for the same space.

Luckily, we were able to contact the site we had booked for next year, and got the dates for this year also! So... the new site is the Red Lion hotel in Olympia, WA. It will have the same "cozy" feel that folks like about our show. Still outdoors in a grassy area, RV parking available, hospitality room for Thursday night and banquet room on Fri night. Thank goodness it worked out!

Olympia is an easier drive for anyone coming down I#5 or #405 anyway.

Sounds good Laurie! Judy had mentioned that the hotel was giving the club problems.

The Red Lion in Olympia looks like a lovely location.

I just got a copy of the contract with the Red Lion - $60 a night for RV parking, OUCH! Otherwise it looks like it will be great and they are very excited to have us, so that's nice. Got to get practicing on Bella's Rally and decide if I want to enter her in the working dog sweepstakes again this year.

Ouch is right. There goes my plan to spend the night there and then head down south, but if I go and am heading south I'll just go on to Vancouver that night. (Free RV parking at Sis's house.)

We stopped in at the Red Lion Hotel in Olympia on the way home from Grayland Sunday. Lovely place.

I changed our $60.00 RV spot to a room instead for the two nights. A room with sliding glass doors, with a cement patio that is right on the grass lawn where the show/trials will be held, just perfect with the dogs! The club's secured contract rate is $99 per nt for a standard room, this upgraded room is $114 But more than worth it to us.

And we'll save a bit on gas for the 4 hour drive each way by coming down in the van instead of the RV, and will also be mobile while we are there as well. Straight home on the Sat though instead of the overnight we had planned at the Silver reef Casino.

My goal at the Specialty is still for Danny and I to get his last AKC Novice leg for his CD, to match the CKC CD that he has.:BIGGRIN"

I'm going to send in Jack's ILP and see if it comes in time. He did great at his first rally class yesterday (though that was the easy stuff and I had treats.)

But I'm still not sure as I won't pay $60 to park a 13 foot trailer (no mention of that in the list that I could see) and I will have it with me if I'm on the way home. I would guess no charge to have it as my vehicle during the day only but who knows? I could probably camp at Teddy's family's home (about 30 minutes away) the night before.

Bobbie, you could also park ov/nt at the Walmart Super Store, 15 min from the hotel according to Mapquest.

Well, I decided to stay at the hotel on Friday night instead of in my trailer. It will be nice to have a shower, a king sized bed and someone to clean up after me!

Bobbie, if you come and want to camp somewhere on Thursday night, let me know and I'll join you. I can't justify 2 nights at the hotel when I'm not even showing a dog, and I'll have my camper with me because I'm leaving for an agility trial on Sat morning early. Camping is free at the agility trial!

I'm so looking forward to the Specialty! And I hope that Mr Danny does well

I think I'm just going to come down that morning unless I go to Nick and Julie's in Spanaway first. But it seems like it might be too warm to have many dogs with me, so I'll have to come down with just Merlin and Candy. What time do things start? I have to figure out if it is do-able from here without too much traffic.

Is Danny Novice A?

CorgiMum
08-08-2010, 03:34 PM
Yes he is.

And if he Qs I can add Cdn/Am CD to his name.:BIGGRIN"

I'm toying with entering him in CKC Open here in Chilliwack at the Sep trials, 10 min from home. And then maybe Open AKC in Lynden in Nov. If he Qs on Friday. Or, Lynden is our back up date for his third Novice AKC leg, if we don't make it on Fri.

Glad that you are coming down to the Specialty!

Yeah, Bobbie, I'm glad you're coming!

We are driving down on Friday morning too. If it is hot out, you are welcome to put your dog crates in my room if they need to cool off. Can't wait to see you guys.

I may or may Not make it...I can't get a Keystone ferry reservation and am not sure I want to trade hours of rush hour traffic and ferry lines for a few hours at the specialty. If I get there I will see you, if not, good luck!
