We'll be there in spirit, too! Maybe one day I can talk hubby into driving me and the Z's to one of the picnics. Could Zip come as an "honorary" corgi? :p

That's ok, Barbara, Kristi...I can proxy for both of you and take lots of pictures to post so you can see what you missed.:D

Gee, David, that would be great! Maybe I could email you some pictures of the Z's that you could staple to some sticks and carry around with you at the picnic! ;)

Hey-That just might work! I could make an audio of some barking on a mini recorder and put it in my pocket and maybe I could fool some of them at least for a while... Maybe even bend down and give them a baby carrot just for good measure now and then and have some plastic poo bags hang out my back pocket. Yep-that's the ticket.:D

I'm so jealous that I can't come! I even had hubby convinced, but then the number of school days was extended due to snow days, and our last day of school is the Tuesday after. Too much stress for me :(

I don't think I'll be bringing no beans, Linda. I've already read enough about the problems ya'll have with your Corgis and that could prove disastrous for Borden Park!! Maybe some baby carrots and celery sticks laced with peanut butter would be more safe.:D

we should have a contest to name Jeni's mysterious illness so she can come and play in Tenn!

I'll be there, arriving Friday afternoon to help with preparations. I spoke with Susie this afternoon and preparations are underway. There are some amazing auction items - so bring lots of $$$$$$ :BIGGRIN" IF time permits, Susie is hoping to get an online auction up as well for some of the items, so even if you can't be there, you can still be there vicariously.
The picnic webpage has been updated a bit:

Debbie-What is a silent auction?
Shopping spree!!!!! People, businesses, artists donate items to bid on. A sheet is placed with each item, some of the items will have a starting bid and you go around and bid on items that you would like. What's up for auction? You name it - food (not so much this year, understandably), leashes, collars, I know someone is donating a weekend in a timeshare at a vacation spot (sorry my mind went blank as to where - I do remember it was VERY nice), crates, baby gates, dog toys and corgi stuff galore!!! You need to keep an eye on items you really want, as people will outbid. I guess that's a long way of saying - like e-bay auctions in person???? Every cent raised goes to Corgi Aid to help pay medical expenses for rescues.
Just bring you a chair, everything else is provided - food, soft drinks, dessert and plenty of corgis. ;)

Sounds like a fun day!! I bidded on an old tube radio on e-bay once and thought I had it until the last 15 seconds when someone else out bid me. I was so mad! I'll be watching that kind of thing this time.:BIGGRIN" In this case, it doesn't matter since all will be going for a good cause.
Dress nice ladies, I think David will be sharing his pictures for the world to see

It will be a jeans and t shirt day for me. I still have got to get something to take to the auction. The silent auctions are lots of fun and Colcolt - I just volunteered to take pics of all the members at church and make up a directory - a major job for me and it will be a challenge.

Me too Bonnie! The only New Year Resolution I have ever kept is the one I made a couple of years ago - If it doesn't feel as good as pajamas I do not wear it :CUTE:
The Auction is going to be a lot of fun!
Wow - your Church Directory! That is a lot of work Bonnie... pressure to make all the ladies look good for their pictures not to mention getting it all organized! Lucky you :BIGGRIN"

T-Gal - I am with you! Sometimes, I have my jammies on at 5:30 at night. Love them. Unfortunately, so do the boys. Most of mine have holes where they grab my pantlegs to escort their mama wherever they think she should be usually first thing in the morning when I am heading to get ready for work.
Fluffypants
04-30-2007, 09:15 AM
Changing into PJ's is the first thing I do when I get home from work (after walking Jackie of course). And Jackie's favorite part of the PJ pants is the drawstring around the waist. As a result of this fetish, I have removed the strings from almost every pair of PJ pants I own (I left them in the ones that need the strings to stay up!). :BIGGRIN"

The silent auctions are lots of fun and Colcolt
Maybe I can make a large 16x20 of myself in my mid 30's and put it on the auction. Trouble is, someone would be very disappointed if they bid and won and got the real thing!!:SPINNY:
I don't envy you having to take all those photos, Bonnie. I use to take nearly 80% of all photos at the various events at a church I went to some years ago from basketball games to cake walks. I got up in the balcony on one occasion and did a shot of all the choir, deacons, etc from there. They were all on the platform and it came out great. They wanted it for the school annual that year and published it along with some others I took.

Oh, yeah!1 I bought a spare 512MB card at Walgreens yesterday after work and will carry another 1G card with three batteries...yep, I'm ready. If my body was in as good a shape as the camera, I'd be happy. I've been kind of puney for a few weeks and they can't find the problem yet but, I hope to make it ok if I have to get wheel barrowed in.:TWITCHY: From what they said last night-70% chance of rain tomorrow but Sat-Sunday is looking fine with temps around 80.

The TN Corgi Picnic to Benefit CorgiAid is this Sunday, May 20th from
11:00 - 4:00 at Borden Park, 901 Lamont St., Kingsport, TN. We're expecting
a really good crowd, and the weather is predicted to be good. We hope
you'll be able to join us! The picnic website is:
http://webpages.charter.net/noelcorgi/picnic07
You'll find details about directions, contests, lunch, etc. there.
We try to keep our schedule flexible. The silent auction begins at 11:00
and ends at 3:45. Lunch is pizza provided by us at 1:00. The Blessing of
the Animals by Rev. Linda Coffey is at 2:00. We'll have a rescue parade
with surprises for former and present rescue corgis and mixes. Games,
contests, and visiting with friends will go on all day!
Our picnic silent auction is going to be one of the best ever. We've had
some wonderful donations from some generous friends to help CorgiAid help
corgis and mixes with medical needs while in foster care. We wanted to give
everybody an opportunity to bid on a few of the items. Our online picnic
auction is starting Tuesday, May 15th at midnight EDT and will end Saturday
at midnight EDT. We'll take the highest bid on each of these items to the
picnic on Sunday so that others can bid. The winners will be notified after
the picnic. The auction website is:
http://webpages.charter.net/noelcorgi/07tnauc1
You can e-mail your bids to me at wnoel "at" chartertn.net (replace "at"
with @), and I will post the highest bids a couple of times a day between
now and Saturday. We had a fun time doing an online auction before the
picnic last year.
There are lots more items that will be in Sunday's picnic auction, so I
hope a lot of you all can be with us to bid in person!
We're having a hotdog cookout on Saturday night at our house. If you're
in town and would like to attend, e-mail me for directions. And Sunday
after the picnic we're having a Moon Pie and RC Cola reception in Silver's
Memorial Garden. Hope to see you all this weekend!

The Picnic was great!! I got back a couple of hours ago totally tuckered out from the drive and from spending five hours with the most beautiful dogs oon the planet.
I got to meet Bonnie Deb (T-Gal) and Debbie (glencorgi) and was slurped a lot by chip(loved it) and got to meet Dale and Chloe. Also, we got to meet Susie and Wayne Noel who hosted this great event. It was a good day and I took about 80-100 pics and shot three videos. I've posted some on photobucket and will post more tomorrow with (hopefully) the video. Right now, I'm about to drop but will gain more strength tomorrow. By the way...I found me a puppy!! She's a red headed tri-color Pem and totally beautiful. Her picture is below. I had to make a picture or two of her out in the backyard before it got dark for all to see!!
I haven't decided on a name yet-maybe Cleopatra or Sophie (Nah, don't want to use Sophie!!Looool)

Either way, let's see some Max!
By the way, if you also happened to meet a woman named Lisa with a tri-color Cardi named Sparky there...Sparky is a full brother to the pupper we would have gotten form Nancy, and Lisa was one of our references from her! They're both just super.

I just have to know this, on the photo that COLCOLT marked THE GIRLS, there is a Corgi who appears to be piebald or maybe dappled, and I have never heard of such, or even seen one in books or calendars. I think the phot I took of "my baby" in the back yard fooled a lot, Emilie:CUTE: I guess this is one Corgi that won't be doing any frapping in the house so, the lamps and furniture are safe!! I didn't get much of a chance to see the rescues although I took a pic of them. I was so enthralled with all the other furballs running around. There must have been at least 60-80 there it seems. The rescues were barking up a storm wanting to get out and play but, they were in a pen and couldn't.
I think the one you're looking at,MGM, was a Corgi mix. I may be wrong, but; I think so and you're right, he was stunning and had a sweet personality. If I remember correctly his Mom lives here on the other side of town from me.
When I get home I'll work on the other pictures and maybe T-Gal can post a pic of me and "Ralph"!!

Yep-that's her. She put cut up hot dogs in that little pool for the Corgis to bob for them. I have a video of that (maybe two) I'll post later on. Some dove right in and others wouldn't get there nose wet to try.
What I was surprised to see was there must have been half a dozen fluffies there and one was a Cardigan! I'd never seen one before and he was gorgeous.
It was a beautiful day, Susan, and I don't believe it could have been any more nice. I wish everyone could have been there.
My little buddy almost looked real didn't she? :CUTE: Videos coming Barbara, just as soon as I cn figure out the best way to do it. I have two of the hot dog bobbing and another I can't recall what it was. I don't think I sat down over 30 minutes the whole day and was about to drop when we got home. A nice sort of being tired, however. Only a couple of 2-3 fights broke out out of the whole day and with that many Corgis and mixes, I felt that was super.
MGM-I'll look and see if I have more of the dapple you spoke of. He was very lovely indeed.

We had an excellent time at the corgi picnic. Deb (T-Gal) is the sweetest lady and Leah is a lovely girl. Leah got to visit with my two youngest granddaughters and they really enjoyed that. Chip & Dale fell in love with Chloe (I think Dale was really lovestruck) and they played all afternoon in our backyard. I didn't get hardly any good pics - boy can those corgis run. Got to meet David and his sister and enjoyed our visits and sharing corgi talk. Of course, we got to visit with Glencorgi as well. I didn't think she had any of her dogs there though. Food was good, contests fun, Blessing to the animals was really nice (my favorite) and Glencorgi did a little history lesson with the rescues. Time flew by and at 4:00 we were all exhausted including our corgis. The dog fights were at the hotdog pool bob and scared me to death. I kept my boys close. Chip loved David and Dale was on the reserved side but all in all it was a great time and I really enjoyed the time that I spent with Deb and David, Leah and David's sister. She is very nice also. I will post some pics of the picnic when I get them downloaded.

Bonnie, I sure miss getting some sugar from Chip today! That boy is a sweetheart and Dale would steal anyone's heart. Chloe hid under my chair to hide from the activity and be petted a little by yours truly. It was a good time but, due to still feeling puny, I got tired easy although I think I hid it pretty well. Maybe also, I'm not use to so much activity being a near hermit!:CUTE: I'd do it tomorrow if I had the chance, though.

Got to meet her hubby, Al and son Andy and his family. Wonderfully warm family - they all made us feel right at home
Next day we met Debbie Glencorgi and David & his sister! Lots of other corgi lovers and their corgi! Leah loved the excitement of the auction and was in a bidding war with one young man  at the last second he out bid her! but she did win several other items and I got a couple of things myself.

Deb, if was great getting to meet you, Leah, and Chloe and Deb, Al, and Debbie. I sure wish more from here could have made it. There were people there from all over including a guy with his mom and Dad who had a R/W fluffy from Pinehurst, NC. That's a pretty good drive to Kingsport as it's nearly three hours from Charlotte.
I hope Ralph behaved himself!! Not sure about his pal David though
Ralph was pretty good until he saw Chloe and his eyes started bulging a little and I had to take him back to the car. He knew she was save with Leah but, he started gnawing on my arm and I had to reprimand him a little. All in all, he's a good boy and he's not a bit jealous of Trixie-in fact he thinks she's a fox!! I didn't know you took that video!!!! Glad you did though - Chloe had a ball playing with that pup. His name was J.P. or J.R. - he won for youngest corgi - 4 mths... Very surprised he and Chloe didn't get really tangled up with their leashes :BIGGRIN" Now you can see why both my Girls passed out by 8pm!

I enjoyed the whole thing, MissGambler. What a time I had with that smorgasboard of Corgis everywhere. I wish I had taken a few more shots of the dappled one for you but so many around, my neck looked like one of those little dogs you put on your dashblard that goes up and down and up and down.... There were at least six Fluffies I saw including the Cardigan.
I loved watching them walk away from you at a good pace. Their rear ends look like two pigs in a poke fighting to get out!!
BTW-In case anyone didn't notice, there are two pages to those pictures I posted at Photobucket. I have some more along with another video I'll post tonight.
One of the greatest thrills I had at the picnic was when we were leaving. I had both arms full with the chair and other things when I looked to the left and saw a R/W Pem sitting with his tongue hanging out and I smiled as I left when suddenly,he winked at me!! I'm serious...his left eye opened and closed like he was winking! I asked my sister, "Can you believe that!! He winked at me." That made my day and I'd give a weeks pay to have caught that on my camera.

ColColt: I do have that on film. A couple of years ago, at Christmas, I had Miss Gambler posed in front of a Christmas tree at a friend's Christmas party, just took the usual shots and didn't think too much about it, until I printed them up. There was a photo of Miss Gambler sitting in front of the tree with a full out wink on her face, little tilt to her head and everything. I was thrilled, to say the least, and that photo is actually on the last page of her baby album, I titled it "That's all Folks!"

Well I did make it back down the mountains and am working on catching up on resting up. It was a GREAT picnic! I recognized Leah from a ways off, so it wasn't hard to spot Deb not far behind. Pawsitively Perfect Chip, I knew from last year and his little brother Perfectly Precious Dale was a doll. It was delightful to see Bonnie and Chip's Dad again. David and his sister were wonderful. Very busy weekend and a fun packed day.
The dappled dog in question (I had to check the photos because I thought you might be talking about another one named McNair) is a mix named Barney. Barney is a wannabe corgi-mix. His coloring is more like an English Setter than a corgi and he has more Spaniel type features than corgi. Barney belongs to my Palmetto rescue's information coordinator. He was found along side a highway by a Retriever person returning from a dog show. He was with a "Lab" which had been hit by a car, and just waiting by its side. The Retriever lady brought Barney home with her and then put an ad on Freecycle or Craigslist or one of those type things. Robin Belyea, my assistant, saw it and went to check him out and he came home with her. This dog is an absolute LOVE! Just the sweetest and most gentle old soul. One can't help fall in love with him once you meet him.
Now there can be piebalds in Cardigans, which McNair, another "speckled" pup that attended the picnic is a close example of. I've had three and they tend to either be sable or very deep red. There was a litter of 3 - 2 females and a male, that went through Cardigan Rescue from up in that area. I fostered Jeff (they were from Jefferson County, TN) and they had to have been related to McNair.
Robin and her dogs, Shiner and Barney came up with me and then Max - the blue eyed deaf Cardigan boy came home with us, so alas, I ran out of room to bring Berry as was my plan. Max is doing great here, having a grand time with Berry and Scarlett as playmates. He is an amazing dog and I am learning a lot from him. It doesn't hurt that he is very cute, sweet, smart and loving.
I am so tickled that everyone came and had a good time. These are special events for me, especially the Tennysea one. The Noel's are just amazing people, a true gift to have as friends and to the corgi community.

Someone got to Soldier before I did. He was adopted Wednesday sometime. I called from Gatlinburg and they told me he had found a home. I finally got my Internet connection back and have posted more pics at photobucket. I thing the new ones are on page 1 but I'm not sure how they arrange things there. Also, There's another video I've posted below at YouTube. Hope you all enjoy.
There's another phot0 of the dapple one that MGM was talking about earlier and I posted that one for her called "Dapple Boy"

David,
It may well have been my son Andrew who outbid you on the bag of toys. He ended up getting a bag that had a bunch of plastic puppy toys that Sparky can't really play with. He's very gentle with stuffed toys but literally eats the soft plastic ones.
I didnt put it together at the Picnic that Sparky and family were our C2BC Sparky!!!! Doh~ I am soooo sorry we didnt get a chance to get to know each other!
I think Andrew outbid Leah on the Cow??? I think she sorta "noticed" him  they were in a 25 cent bidding war over it all day...

I look over at him - he is sound asleep! I say something and he automatically mutters "ah ha" :BIGGRIN" Is that Man good or what????
