. . . can't . . . . Stand . . . . The Cuteness . . . . .
. . . . Puppy . . . . . Fever . . . . Setting . . . . In . . .

What a bunch of cuties Debbie. Can I ask . . . do you eventually build up an immunity to Puppy Fever . . . or do you still catch it occasionally?

I'm melting with ahhhh's.

My son will be thrilled as he was so sad yesterday coming home from school asking "any puppy pictures on the forum?" and I had to reply I was swamped researching the auto forum and couldn't sign on.

Yea, I still catch it. I latched on to Bruin pretty quick and the "miniB's" (also known endearingly as the Banshees) - a couple in there that are tugging at me. I'm also contemplating timing for another Pemmie baby. That'll be down the road and in the somewhat distant future tho'.

Bruin's a big boy! He always looked big in pictures in comparison to Mac...but they are ALL such cuties! :)

All the black and white babies....only three more weeks, three more weeks....can we stand the wait?

They really are beautiful puppies, so perfect looking, like the ones in my journal and in my calendars.

The "miniB's" are Mac's neices. Their dam is a Cher daughter, Luna. These were the "sour apples" Heather (aka the Banshees - so called as when they were handled as wee new borns they'd squall to the tops of their lungs. IF you even looked at them like you might be contemplating picking them up, they'd squall. It took a lot of handling and they've grown out of it, but still left with a lot of attitude.)

So we did well with Uncle Mac, huh...? I didn't realize that Luna was Cher's daughter. How fun, getting to know the whole Corgi Clan!

Incidentally...Mac's ex pen came in the mail today! We heard a bit about PetEdge from people here, and Robin gave us a catalogue as part of Mac's package, and we were able to find a really nice one with a door for only $50! Even with shipping, still cheaper than comparable stuff at Petsmart....and we ordered other things for super-cheap to offset the shipping. Seeing it set up in the kitchen, though...is 36" too high, or will Mac grow into that height? I can't remember what height the ex=pens Robin had were, but standing next to it, it seems right. I think it just looks larger because it's in our apartment.

We couldn't see ourslves saving on a crate, though, so we'll be picking one up from PetSmart (unless someone knows of a better deal) soon. What size is good for a Cardi? We're looking at an equivalent for this guy:

Should we do the "medium" or the "medium/large"? Size now doesn't really matter since we're purposefully getting the kind with the divider so it can grow with Mac.

IF you can find a 32 inch length - those are really good for Cardigans. On those tho' looks like the medium/large would be your best choice.

I went with the 36" crates for my pems but that is more or less so they have plenty of room to sleep sprawled all the way out... how big do you need for a fully grown cardi? is 32 inches how big you get them for adults? curious

We'll get either length...whichever winds up being the best value, really. Our big requirement is large enough for him as an adult and coming with a divider so don't have to buy multiple crates.

Heather: I bought the really large crate, with a divider, and it also has the door on the side and one on an end, that really helps, because sometimes when you place a crate in a room, the end door will not work so the side door comes in handy. Petco has a great selection, and decent prices.

Great tip MGM! Bet the side door comes in handy . . . kinda wishing I had one on Jackie's crate . . . .

Gosh you folks use big crates - oversized really for an individual dog. For an adult Cardigan 30 to 32 inch length is plenty of room and size. I measured the ones I use for the Cardigans here and passed along the size that was recommended to us by our mentors. Pembrokes 28 to 30 inch length is more than adequate. Crates are supposed to be like dens and IF you think of sleeping quarters in a den, well they're not king size beds.:BIGGRIN"

I can travel with at least 2, depending on size sometimes even 3 corgis to a crate in the size crates you guys are talking about and the corgis are comfortable.

I will admit the double door crates do come in handy. The 36 inch size is good for a mom and her litter - gives her room to have a little space of her own and yet the puppies close. I also prefer the suitcase/fold up style over the "post & beam" ones, unless they are staying in a permanent location. They don't travel so well.

My breeder said (and this is her personal preference) she just gets the adult sized crates for her puppies. She doesn't use a divider and she says they do just fine.

We had a choice between a 30 and 36, so we went with the 36 as per Debbie's reccomendation. It definitely does look on the larger side, but we have the divider until Mac's a big boy and if all of your Corgis are comfortable, I'm sure Mac will be, too!

Ours also has the side door, which was really convenient because it was easier to set up in our living room with the side door facing out. Now we just need a Mac to go in the crate!

So, to my original question, which XPen did you get? (you posted the crate earlier)

Sorry!! I mis-read. The ex-pen is also a 36-incher. Again, it's a bit tall now, but will work once he's a full sized doggy who can jump up on things :)

I agree with Debbie, wow! Ok a couple of my guys have bigger crates, Mikey because he's had a couple of issues with his back and I don't want him cramped, but mostly my pems are in 200 size (medium) Vari Kennels. Even my Cardi Cassidy has that size. (She's not a big girl.) A couple of the longer Pems (like JJ) have 300 size crates.

Link?

This is the one I got, and I hope it's tall enough.... http://www.petedge.com/shopping/product/detailmain.jsp?itemID=208&itemType=PRODUCT&iMainCat=408&iSubCat=507&iSubSubCat=508&iProductID=208

Only 30". and no real "door" in it.
