Peggy mentioned she had trouble with the first unread post bypassing one. And I know I noticed ad oddity, so I thought I'd ask.

When I'm on the New post page, if I click on the last page of a thread, and then the first unread post, it appears to only bring me to the first unread post on that last page, when in fact there is an unread post on a previous page.

But when I click on the first page of the thread, I click on the first unread post, it takes me to the first unread post on a different page.

Additional item - question. If I log off, does this mark everything as read. Or if I am logged off because I had to leave the computer, does this mark everything as read.

I know the new posts disappear, I go to the quick link - todays post and see items I haven't read marked as read - I'm wondering what I need to change so that this doesn't happen.

Merrie, I don't actually use these functions, so I will have to play around a little to see what's happening for you. I do know that in your options you can set up how you see unread posts and mark read. I won't be able to get back to you until late in the weekend as I won't be aorund. Do you mind muddling through until then? Perhaps someone who does use these functions regularly will pipe up with some helpful info in the meantime!

Ok, I'm new to your site... and to forums in general. How do I do this?

Also, as long as I have your attention :BIGGRIN"
how do I add a pic of myself? (note, account is under MY {dog} name)

Are you looking to put a picture of prince for the Avatar? If so, you can click on User CP at the top and then on the side there are options to choose from; one being an Avatar

Ahhh I clicked close modzilla by mistake and lost my new post listing. Now I can only see what is new as of today (under quick links), when I didn't get a chance to log on yesterday. Is there some way to have it NOT mark things as read when I "get" logged off?

Just so I am clear what you're asking Merrie, you want to know if there is a way to see all new posts since your last log-in- not just todays

Actually I'd love to log out and not have all the posts marked read. I had to log in quickly to get the chicken recipe and when I log out, everything is marked read, or if I close the browser the same occurs. Didn't know if there is somewhere I could change to have that option.

Is this any clearer?

I know the option about unread threads - not posts. When I log in everytime I see the threads/forums that have unread posts. I can turn that feature on and off by going to the main page cool2bcorgi.com/forums and in the blue bar below the lowest forum - which on my page is the Rainbow Bridge - I can click Mark Forums Read - that toggles between marking and not marking.

Everyone looks at the site using different methods and I may be dense and not getting what you are asking because I don't do it the same way.

Is that what you were asking?? I'll keep trying until I get it right for you Merrie.

If I sign in and only read one post and there are 20 new posts to read (I use the new posts tab on top). Then I sign out. When I sign in again, even if it is 10 minutes later, the 19 new posts I didn't read are marked as if I clicked the mark posts as read. So I "loose" those 19 posts being marked as read because when I logged out. They became marked as read when I didn't read them and I really would love to not have them marked as read just because I logged out.

Hey I've had dinner so hopefully this is clearer.

The blue bar below forum threads reads "mark forums read". I am thinking that you click that when you want to mark the forums read. Yep I clicked it and now there is nothing new to read. So this isn't a toggle.

I've only noticed this problem in the last couple of weeks. Could it be that the parent site for c2bc has changed it's parameters?

The issue doesn't have anything to do with our new host - and there have been no changes to the software or issues with the database. I don't know why it's happenning - and I will look into it further for you Merrie.

If anyone else has thoughts or ideas - I'm open to them!

Merrie,

When you mark everything as read, then click "New Posts", it will say there are no new posts, search the past 24 hours. Click the blue link to do so and you'll have all new posts, in order for the past 24 hours. The top 10-20 should be the last ones you hadn't read yet but had disappeared when you logged off.

Hope that helps. It's what I have to do when I leave and come back and I've logged out accidentally. Mark the whole forum as "read", then click the "past 24 hours search" button and VOILA! They are back.

AnnaI NEVER noticed the advanced search button! Now I know how to search by date.
