Graham WA, May 16/2010 Cascade Pembroke Welsh Corgi Club. Novice A
The park was beautiful, and the lawns where the Match was held was very nice, short soft grass.
What a fun day despite the rain, just as Danny and I entered the ring of course.:ROLLEYES
It was so nice to see Laurie, Bella & Rudy again! Too bad the dogs didn't get a chance to play together as everything was packed up asap when the clouds opened up. Luckily the lunch and meeting were under cover. I also got to talk to some recently made friends there as well.
And there were PUPPIES!!! Laurie and I looked long and hard at them. +WUBCLUB+
The Match....we got 185 - 10 points off because Danny moved too much on the Long Down. He got interested in the ladies packing their vehicle behind him, and seems to forget what he was meant to be doing. Need to fix that before our first AKC trail this weekend! And fix some not very straight sits.
I'm so glad that I finally got to see us on the FLIP, as we aren't as bad in the ring as I had imagined. Also tried adding the music to the clip, was my first attempt, and not successful.
You can see our TV in the background where Dyl Bob was waiting for us. He also had a great time, enjoyed the people, the other dogs and seeing the puppies too. He also was trying to enter the ring. I know he missed it.

And the Long Sits & Downs, at least Danny was a dog that did not leave. We were in with the Novice B group.

And I will also post a pic of the larger than a puppy ceramic corgi that we came home with, on my lap for the entire drive!

Danny looks really great! I so wish that was held a week or two later so Candy could have gone, he loves to do obedience and we never have any matches here.

Bobbie, have you tried getting in touch with any of the Ob clubs in the area to see if they have drop ins or Correction Matches? We have them almost monthly at our Dumbbell Ob club, & all are welcome, but I guess it's word of mouth if you aren't a club member.
Wow - you two were great!
Danny was so cute with his long down, fidgeting and all (yes I know he shouldn't do that, but its adorable). I bet in the same situation Link would have started rolling, and Millie would have done exactly what the corgi next to Danny did. He did swell, staying down while that one took off (x2). I see one owner kind of lost patience with her dog - easy to do, I know.

Thanks, I think he looks pretty cute too.
We are continuing our practice of the Long Down STAY! with a big yellow plastic tube in front of Danny Boy's toes to remind him that moving about is not to happen for the next 3 minutes.:NAH:

I love the attention Danny is giving you. As for the stays I feel like Quigly's owner. and for the dog next to Danny, that's Connor. I'm bored I don't wanna stay put.

Lynden this Sat and Sun. AKC trial. IF we get two legs we may wait until the CPWCC Specialty in Aug to try for the last leg of his AKC CD. If not 2 in Lynden, then we may go to Mt Vernon's trials July 3rd & 4th.
PS: Gary missed a gig here in Chwk do to our trip this past Sat. But he will be playing at 2 Show N' Shines at Dukes Pub, (outdoor stage) this summer. We'll be taking Roxy as the puppers will be in tow for the day, even though it's only a 15 min drive fro home.

Betsie, Danny is a VERY nosey corgi and WAY too interested in what is happening round him. But so far, he has not followed another dog out of the ring.

Good job you two! Danny cracks me up, getting all comfy in the grass. Watching poor Quigley's Mum have a melt down and then that cute little tri who just couldn't handle his Mum being so far away! Good work!! +APPLAUSE+

It was fun to see Danny who has matured so much since last summer. I think he did great! I don't think Barbara mentioned that they were only 2 points short of getting High in Match!
Poor 'Quigley' is actually Wigley and she is my Bella's littermate. If she is anything like Bella (and it seems that she is), she probably gets really stressed out in these situations. I learned that if I get frustrated it just makes it worse. Bella would either shut down or pretend like I didn't exist. They can appear to be very bratty in that situation, but really they are just stressed. I know Wigley's owner felt bad about getting so frustrated with her, it's hard sometimes...

Sorry - sounded like "Quiggley". +EMBARRASED+
Hmm, doesn't Peggy always day be careful what you name your dog - maybe she should have called "Wiggly" "Stay" instead! :TWITCHY:
He did look like he just wanted out of there!

Yes, we were close, and if it wasn't or his wiggly down....
Thanks Laurie, he is coming along. I see a flicker of maturity in his eyes now and then. But I hope that he never loses that wild child impishness that makes his eyes glint and puts that huge grin on his face. (Like when he is ment to be shot dead in his new trick:ROLLEYES)
And you are Very Good at reading a dog. Part of why you are such a good trainer I am sure.
It is easy to get frustrated sometimes. But in the ring, I always remember we are a team. Neither of us could be there without the other. Well, we could, but that wouldn't get us any points or ribbons!

Danny's such a clever little guy. He clearly understood he was supposed to stay there in a "down" position, but I love the way he managed to scoot around - always in the down position - so he could taste the grass and look at some things behind him. He's a gem!

I remember one of my obedience instructors telling us about a judge she had at a match. One dog was nibbling on the grass and the judge yelled at him, "NO SALAD!!"

I watched the long down video again this morning.. what cracks me up is the little RHT next to Danny that casually just gets up and slooooowly walks away LOL! so funny... of course , not for the owner who is hoping their dog makes that 3 minute down... Dillon did great at that .. but his long sits were harder as he wanted to lay down... i never had to say anything in class but would give him the stink eye from a distance if he started "threatening" to either get up or lay all the way down... and he generally understood my "DON"T DO IT" look..
again, great job...

Barbara, I love Danny's focus on you. You have done a wonderful job with him. And his recall had me in stitches...Danny looked like he was shot out of a cannon!:BIGGRIN" He is too cute wiggling around in a down. What a cute little guy! I so enjoy watching you two together!
And where is the picture of the ceramic dog, BTW?

I'm with the tri-color. The sit is so long...to be away from mum. If I don't have the patience, I wouldn't make it in the ring. You both looked great.
