Call the animal shelter and ask as they should know if there are any low cost spay neuter clinics.

That would be my suggestion too. There are often low cost spay/neuter clinics going on.

Check on line with your county because Riverside had a $40 voucher towards it and every little bit helps. But it can take time to get the voucher. Rescue groups might be a good place to recommend too.
