Checkers won Best in Show!!

Took Checkers with us to the Base party today and entered him in a dog show for fun. There were about 40 dogs entered. As they called the contestants up you went up on stage, did whatever you wanted to do with your dog and then exited. I had him do a few "sit-ups" (sit-down-sit-down) and then did his trick of balancing a treat on his nose. I had him in for best-trick.. but all dogs were eligible for any category at the judges discretion. I was quite suprised and pleased at the end when they called him first for 1st place in "Best in Show!" He won a large water/food bowl filled with gifts and treats and wrapped with a pretty bow and they took his picture on stage and framed it in a frame with "S.S.A.D. 2010, Best in Show" (S.S.A.D. stands for Super Saber Appreciation Day). I'll take a picture of the picture and post it later... the bowl and treats are already unwrapped. There were several toys, a doggy first aid kit, some treats, and a gift card for 3 nights overnight stay for Checkers at the doggy spa here. Not a bad haul for his first show!!

And that's for all our dogs who look at us with the questioning eyes, "Aw mum, why do I hafta learn this?" when we're trying to teach them things.... It's becuase of the big prizes that may come at any time! Yea Checkers!+1ST+

Thanks everyone. I think he represented corgis quite well yesterday. He did everything I asked and he wasn't afraid of the stage like a lot of the dogs were. Here's a picture of the photo and frame that we won.... in the right of the photo you can kinda see the first place prizes that were given out. I am quite proud of my boy! :WINK:

:NAH: Nah, they don't give prizes like he got, there he'd only get a ribbon. (My dogs have yet to be impressed with the ribbons. But they do like the bait I give them, and the toys or bones I buy them for the ride home.)
