The low tide is at about noon, a whopping -3.45, which means more tide
flats than ever in Useless Bay. We are planning to start walking out to the
tide flats at 11 AM. Corgis need to be on leash to get out to the beach (or
you may find your corgi goes rabbiting instead of running on the tide flats)
but it is usually safe to let them off leash on the tide flats if they will
more or less stay with you (lots of room to run away if they won't.) Humans
can walk most of the way without wet shoes, but better to plan on being able
to get wet. Kids are welcome as long as they are used to dogs, and this
beach is quite safe for kids. I put a few pictures in the album on Corgi-L.

Bring a picnic lunch and after we get back we can eat, or we can point you
to a nearby restaurant if you'd rather. Email me for directions and to let
me know if you are planning (even tentatively) to come. We are on Whidbey
Island, which is about an hour from Seattle (plus ferry time) and 3 1/2 from
Portland (plus ferry time) and 2 hrs south of Bellingham.

We can probably arrange ferry pickups for a few people if you want to leave
your car and walk on to the ferry but will need to know in advance.
Otherwise plan for about an hour of ferry waiting time. (Sunday would have
been better but it is Father's Day and I know that would have prevented some
of you from coming.)

So far it looks like we are coming Bobbie!

One question, I saw Wesley in his cart, Montrose is having a difficult time with hers now, (back stirrups) how do you think her stroller would be on the sand?

Looks like all the puppers have a wonderful time.

That would be great!

Sort of a half way point? Well, longer for us, a good 2 1/2 hours drive from here.

It's a 2 hour drive to the ferry from our place. But we may still be in Coeurd' Alene on Saturday, so we'll have to see.

Going to run it by the hubby. We had planned on hitting N. ID as I have family there, but they are going to be out of town and on the way to Yellowstone (oh the irony, eh?) so maybe we'll come home early like we'd planned and hit Whidbey. We can RV up there then head home on Sunday? *thinking*

Again, the SU is in charge of the trip other than the puppy, so it's in his capable hands.

Barbara, it depends on how heavy the stroller is. Wesley was very light in his cart (he only weighed 20 lbs.) It IS salt water so you would want to hose off the wheels afterwards, but it would probably work if it is an all-terrain stroller (once you got to the beach; getting it down across the sand would be harder.)

Does she just not like the stirrups or is she having trouble walking with them?

You could park overnight by Mom's house (plenty of room and you could run electric in.)

Mrs. Grace called to say they got home at 4 AM and won't make it this morning. She said the new puppy is great and ready to run after a week in the trailer.
