As everyone has probably seen with my numerous pic postings, we got a pem puppy about 2 months ago. It was kind of a spur of the moment thing and we got her from a breeder we didn't know much about. We were told that she was a registered purebred, but never got the paperwork. I was just wondering if anybody else has had any dealings with Living Sky Corgis/Keystone Corgis in Sask?

I haven't had anything to do with them, but I would contact them and ask for her registration papers - with your name on them, as the owner. Some breeders (not the really good ones) will ask you pay to make the change to her registration. Just an FYI - but it's important, that if she was registered that the papers show you as the owner.
I'd also call the CKC (Canadian Kennel Club) and find out if they are registered there and if there have been any complaints and issues.

I just saw their website and they say "AKC" registered - which is unusual that Canadian bred dogs are registered in the AKC - which is the American Kennel Club.
I'd still call the CKC and ask if they have any reports on them.
Either way - get her papers and have them show you as the owner. My dog Rupert was born in the USA and he is AKC registered to my name.

Thx for the info. We really love Daisy, but we wish we got her under different circumstances. I have contacted the breeder and she told me about 3 or 4 weeks ago that she was still waiting. We have had Daisy 2 months now and I didn't think it would take that long, which is why I'm doubting that we'll get it. Thats a good suggestion to call CKC and make sure that if we get the papers that we are the owners on there, I would have never thought of that.

She may not have sent the papers to the AKC until you purchased her - so it can take several weeks.
I suggested calling the CKC re: if there were any complaints or issues with the breeder. It is a red flag that the dogs are registered in the States and not Canada.
We all make mistakes - but as long as you are caring for Daisy and doing what is best for her - it's all good.

They do not appear to be members of the PWC club of Canada, under either name. I looked at their website and was not impressed, with their dogs, especially with a link to one of thir suppliers who breeds, it says "MINI PWCs"
None of their dogs appear to have any titles or registration, but they may be registered AKC because one of their breed stock is from a kennel in South Dakota and perhaps the area of Sask. they are in is on the border??
Having said all this I have to tell you that my first corgi as an adult was from a possible puppy mill , smartest dog I've ever known, was still hiking with us at 15 years old. Go figure.
You love her, don't worry about it.

It looks like the people they got their breeding pair from are in South Dakota, which may explain the AKC registration. But, they are advertising "mini" corgis and sell with full breeding rights, which is probably not a real good sign.
As said previously, it can take a while for the breeder to get the papers if she did not send them in right away. I'm not sure if calling the AKC would help or not, but it might be worth a try.

Thx for the posts. We definitely love Daisy, she is such a sweet dog. I wouldn't trade her for anything. I was just very anxious to have a pem at the time and they had puppy pics posted that were adorable! I saw a pic of the mom from the side and she looked nice, and we put a deposit on Daisy. I later saw their site and was not impressed. They don't quite look like corgis. (I even had a breeder come up to me and tell me Daisy didn't look like a corgi. ) They never mentioned they were supposed to be "min corgis". Oh well. Definitely good came of this b/c we have Daisy! I figure in three years once Daisy is trained we'll get her a brother, and we'll definitley do our homework then.

I wouldn't worry about it too much. You love Daisy and that is what is important (and she looks like a corgi to me!). Good luck waiting 3 years though, hehe. :BIGGRIN"

I agree. We got Millie from a breeder-who-was-not-a-breeder, all I knew at the time was to not go to a pet store. Oh well, you live and learn. The best thing is to do right by the puppy, and it certainly sounds like you are.

I think this may be the perfect description of Sadie's breeder...I love it! And I completely agree that if you have a dog you love, and who fits into your family, it is the perfect dog for you...papers or not! The papers issue would only matter if you planned to breed the dog yourself, or if you wanted to show her. Otherwise, Daisy is very, very lucky to have found such a warm, loving home and she will bring you years of joy!

Bwa-hahaha!!! This was Trevor's "breeder", too! Who cares, he is the sweetest dog I have ever owned and a corgi through-and-through. +WUBCLUB+
Oh, and Daisy definitely looks like a corgi!

After the trouble we had with the "breeder", we never bothered to try and get the papers. We had no need for them then, and never did for her whole life.
I totally agree, Daisy is very fortunate to have "found" you! Enjoy her!

I appreciate everyones comments. Whatever the case is with the breeder, Daisy is a permanent family member. Just now I know for next time.

That is strange that they'd be in Canada and be AKC reg. Makes me wonder if they are really reg. anywhere.
I'd send an email to the AKC and ask about the parents. Give the parents names (reg. names) and ask if the litter was reg. If it was not you're out of luck. If it was, the AKC will tell them to send you the papers.
Also, in looking at their page, no show pictures, no pedigrees, no mention of any health testing. So IMO, NOT reputable breeders. (And dogs may not be reg. anywhere...)

Not a problem. Just things to make note of for next time. She's still your dog and that alone makes her the best dog in the world to you!
