http://www.plaqueoff.com/

We've been using this product for about a month and I can already see the difference it has made in each of the dog's teeth.

Danny had a wee bit of tartar and it is completely gone. Dylan had a lot of tartar on one of his canines and it has been dramatically reduced. Especially away from the gum line which is very important.

I will most definitely be getting a refill when this container is empty.

Thanks for the review..is this a product you can just order on line or does this need a vet prescription? I am always looking for a way to help with plaque and tartar build up.

I currently brush the dogs teeth several times a week... and still have to scale once a month to keep their teeth nice. i worry as i cannot scale the inside of the teeth... shoot i am luck to get them to let me do the outsides of the teeth! LOL my vet did tell me that it accumulates a lot slower on the inside of mouth vs the teeth that the cheeks rest on ...

anyway, i might be interested in a product like this..

Thanks

Thanks for the info! I've bene trying to keep the nasty off the teeth with bones and chews, and it works for the most part. But there are a few spots I'm not happy about. I think I'll try it.

It was $25. but the tiny spoon in the container is all that the dogs get daily. And I mean tiny. The site has the amounts and how long it lasts, about 3 months having 2 dogs at our weight. It's listed under Ingredients & Dosage. So I'd say, no it isn't expensive.

If you click on the link, and then the container on the right, for animals, a banner above comes up, click on that and it shows you where it the world it can be purchased. Or you could check at your local pet store. Ours carry it here.

I'd asked our Vet if he had heard about it and he said no, but he said that there certainly are foods/ingredients that help prevent plaque from forming on the dog's teeth. I think he'll be please when he sees Dylan again.

Thanks for posting this, Barbara.

Keeping Trevor's teeth clean isn't a problem but the cats, they're another story. Anything I've tried to put in their mouths (paste, gel, etc.) has been a no-go. Something like this that you add to their food, however, may be just what I've been looking for! +IDEA+

Their site doesn't make it easy to find nad buy - if you are in the US and click on the map it gives a phone number and website in TX only, the website brings you right back to the same one you had already linked to... sooo, i went to amazon on a whim and looked for it there... and they have it for like $16.99 - what a bargan... i am going to buy some. I would love to givethis a try.. and i love that it is not some chemical additive but a natural product.

Barbara, thanks for the link and the review...

Ah, good job, Emilie! I, too, had trouble finding out where I could "buy" the product on their website. I was too tired last night to look around for it anywhere else, so thanks for doing the leg-work!

No problem, go HERE (http://www.filleritem.com/)

I have the Prime Shipping plan (LOVE it), but if I didn't I'd use this.

I use Cody's and have prime. But I'm not sure if anyone knows a family member or yourself who is a student, and has an email ending in .edu but amazon was offering free prime for a year to them.

I've been doing the prime for many years and saw the .edu thing. We could get that as Erik is in college, I just haven't checked it out. There's also a thing for people who buy a lot of baby things like diapers called MOM or something.

HAH, as if I'd need help padding out an order! :ROLLEYES

That's pretty cool, though! Does Amazon use your browsing history to "suggest" filler items that you might like?

I just got my bottle of Plaque off this afternoon and added the tiny little scoop ( if you can call it that) in their food (mixed up with their wet ingredients) and they ate it without issue. I will post in a month or so to let you all know if i think it is working.

The only thing it mentions is that you should not use this for dogs with thyroid issues... not sure if that was mentioned here.. oh and also can affect blood sugar (not sure why) in diabetic dogs...

but since my two are healthy in those respects, i am trying it out!!

Thanks for the review on this barbara!!

Hope that it is successful for your boys too. And I also always check the information about an supplement before giving it to my dogs.

Received my order of Plaque Off the other day. First feeding was a success - no turned up noses from either the canine or the feline critics.

The instructions said results should be seen anywhere from 3-8 weeks. Here's hoping that it does the trick!

I was all set to buy some when I found a half-used bottle of Petzlife gel in the treat drawer. Figured I should use that up before trying something else. Between that and the bully sticks, cow ears and bones, Link's teeth are really clean! Now I just need to keep it up.

Hah, I was all ready to ask if you wanted me to send you my half-used bottle of Petzlife (the cats would have nothing to do with it) but I looked at the expiration date and saw that it was "past its prime" a year ago!

Never mind!

We have been using it for a week. neither dog minds it being mixed in their dinner meal, however I am watching Gus. Dillon is doing fine on it. Gus, though, with his Dermatomyositis, can be sensitive to things.

I noticed two days after starting, that it appears he was having a mini flair up... now, these come and go for him... not all that often since he has been on his meds. I can tell that he will have one as he has softer poop ONCE and then the next day i can look at him and find some little boo boo... sure enough i noticed he had a tiny spot on his lower lip near where the upper canine rubs on the bottom lip . So I watched it... and debated if i should take him off the plaque off since it was the only new thing added for him.. but i decided that since he seems to get these out of the blue that it could be a coincidence. these last ( since he is on meds) about two days tops... and then everything just goes back to normal.. Well lips take longer as they are moist and hard to heal... but the spot is not healing and looks a bit iffy to me... so i am thinking i may stop giving this to him... I just am not sure why this would have an effect on him... i keep coming back to the iodine... and the fact that it is not recommended for dogs with thyroid issues or diabetes...and wonder ifthis added iodine or whatever is in this seaweed is interacting with Gus's meds ( which actually dialates blood vessles and also changes the shape of the blood cells)

I know you are not vets but does my logic make sense? and do you think i am jumping the gun by taking Gus off the plaque off?

Dillon, will remain on it as it is not having any affect on him ( and then i will be able to see in another few weeks if his teeth do indeed look better... )

Your logic sounds reasonable to me, Emile.

Whether or not the Plaque Off was the trigger for Gus's outbreak you can't know, but it probably makes sense to stop giving it to him until his lip is healed. Then you can try introducing it back into his diet. If he gets another outbreak right away, well then, that's some pretty strong evidence.

Might be worth asking your vet about possible interactions with his medications, too.

Vibes that sweet Gus heals quickly! +WUBCLUB+

Thanks Deb. I didnt give Gus any since wednesday night and checked checked Gus's lip this morning and it looks better already... so i have to think it was interacting with his meds... maybe blocking his meds from doing their job or something.. I may wait until he is totally healed... give it a few weeks and then try it again to see... but i have this bad feeling that this just wont work for him... Dillon, though, is fine and i will contine with him...

Yes - I am very curious to know about this - I do not want either of mine to have to go for a dental again and I am really not up for brushing their teeth!

I was going to post about this, thanks for the reminder Bobbie.

Yes, it made a difference, but it does take some time.

We went through 2 bottles of the powder, and Dylan still had some plaque so I figured that it wasn't really working and then didn't renew the product after that. Danny's teeth have always been clean.

I was brushing the boys teeth weekly, (but am now doing it twice a day) with a battery rotating tooth brush. Last week I noticed that Dylan had as much plaque as he did before we started using the Plaque Off, so yes, it definitely made a difference. I was so sorry that I had stopped using it and let Dyl's plaque build up again. The toothbrush works the gum line and keeps the plaque away from the skin.

The product is now a permanent part of their morning supplement regime along with the Nu Pro, also pumpkin, yogurt and Dylan's Deramaxx.

Dylan, up until recently always had beautiful teeth, our Vet said his situation now is not uncommon though for his age.

This is from someone who reacts to green tea, and now pyracantha (firethorn). The wierd thing is taking extra zinc was the only thing that brought down the swelling from pyracanta contact (trimmed a neighbor's bushing touching our new house). Go figure, zinc? Antihistamine did nothing. I've stopped asking why, just thrilled to find something work.

I have continued using the product with Dillon and his teeth are looking pretty good.. I am still brushing his teeth twice a week...with intentions of doing it more often, but never getting my act together and doing it. "NO:":

With Gus , have not tried it again... after his last reaction, i was a little nervous.. you know, i hate to rock the boat with that boy! i leave well enough alone and just make sure i scale his teeth once a month and brush twice a week... and that seems to do pretty well. I have to be extra careful since i can no longer get his name brand medication for his condition, only the generic which is somewhat less effective... so i dont want to take chances..

I am not sure how i feel about the product in general... Dillon's teeth look ok. but with one dog on the product and one not, I dont see a noticeable difference in one dog or other... they look about the same. I am still using the product on Dillon.
