It is! The merle was actually part of Mac's surrogate mom's litter. Debbie can chime in with his/her name, I didn't get to meet that one. I only know Mac's two actual littermates, sisters Cabby and C.G. :)

They're beautiful dogs, great genetics. You are going to be stopped by people so often who want to pet him, and ask about the breed. (And I think that Mac resembles a Panda.)

Oh Heather, these are precious. The first one gives a hint how great he'll look with his ears up and that adorable right ear with the white clear through. The last one I thought, it couldn't have been the same day as his nose has grown, like it should. No he can't grow up so fast before you get him!

I'm impressed with the ears coming up. My breeder said the ears are so large it might take until 14 weeks, sigh. I did tease her and ask if large ears will lesson the senior hearing loss - HA!

Yeah... one of the GOOD things about Robin still having him is that she'll be able to tell before we get him if the ears will be trouble, and she knows how to tape them...we'd be CLUELESS. :)

Only 3 survived out of Mac's litter of 10. There were blue merles, but sadly we lost all of them. (Dam's milk was tainted, plus one or two was lost at the vet's during her c-section.) The blue in the photo is BJ ("Bear Jr, looks just like his sire.) He's the littermate of Bruin, the black & white boy with the mini-B's I posted. They have a blue merle sister (originally "pistol Crystal, now known as Faeriesteed's The Divine Miss V, "Vera.") that is living in Greenwich Village and taking New York by storm. We're hoping for the same thing in the show ring with her. Bear's picture was posted to GC with his first litter (the Christmas photos) out of which I have my Berry.

Mac is a very handsome fellow and going to be very nice. Heather and Colin are going to have a great time with him, such a fun puppy.

PS: The mini-B's are Mac's nieces, their mom Luna is his half sister on the dam's side.

I already get that! It's so exciting. I have the photo in my avatar on the desktop of my computer at school, so everyone (staff and students) who see Mac's sweet little face want to know if he's mine, how old he is, and of course what breed he is, since he's not one of the more popular breeds of dog. Of course, even when I tell them "Cardigan Welsh Corgi" they STILL look at me funny most of the time! It's been a good conversation starter already, and I'm just excited to get him home and let him meet people :)

I don't know what you teach, but if you teach young children, then there could be so many different opportunities to tie him into a lesson.

I teach fifth grade...which means my kids think I'm a dork for being obsessed with my dog, but they're at least young enough to think that their dork teacher is funny. Trust me... next year he'll be all over math examples, English essays, social studies tests... ;)

Heather, have you read Dogzilla? It's a great book and the "villain" is a Cardi. I read it to my students, and even though they are older, they still laughed and thought it was funny.
Mac is definitely getting so big. They seem so huge by the time they finally come home, and don't worry if you end up having to tape the ears; it's really not as hard as it sounds. (I had to do it with Dudley and Maya!)

Ohhh, I have to get that one! I have "Cat Kong," but didn't even know there was a "Dogzilla" companion book :) And a Cardi? It's going in my library.

There may be another opportunity to sneak him into a geography lesson as well with their interesting background.

I can see it now:

1) Now if Mac has 7 cookies and he wants thirty, how many sad looks will he have to give Mom & Dad to acquire his desired number?

2) If Mac is romping in Patagonia, what country is he in?

Precisely ;) I have a great PowerPoint template for playing Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, which my kids LOVE because they get to "phone a teacher" for help on one question, I definitely make the review questions go from very easy to very hard, and the "Loot" I give out (part of a raffle incentive system we have going for good behavior grade-wide) as prizes at the end comes in VERY abundant supply. I always slip in silly things for the first few questions... Mac will appear VERY frequently!

Speaking of my raffle Loot...Patricia....any chance we can alter the Dudley Dollar once he's home?!

Oh you can do a "Where in the World" is Mac :BIGGRIN" for your Geography. Am thinking maybe Deb Jespah was very good at inserting Rupert into the Olympics and other places... Maybe Colin can make magic Mac pictures?????

Haha! We do ancient Civilizations in social studies... I can put pictures of him on their packets :) At the Colosseum, on the Great Wall of China, in King Tut's tomb... ;)

You can do something like this with Mac (modified how you want to do it). I'm thinking of doing this with my students next year. A friend of my in-laws granddaughter did it this past year. They really enjoyed it. The students sent Stanley to people they knew. These people kept a journal, took pictures, etc.

Dogzilla was in Scholastic if you order from them, if they still have it in their warehouse. It is a tri-colored cardi! Reminded us of Pepper. The paperback is real thin because it is a large book and we would have missed it if a friend didn't say - a fat Pepper is on a book.
