Okay, so after I commented about the new Fergie remixes in another thread it got me thinking...Are my husband and I the only to weirdos who make up songs about our dog and sing it to them to amuse ourselves?!
So fess up people, I am ALMOST sure I can't be the only won..We have created so many songs about Ponzo to popular music it's ridiculous. My family makes us sing them at family dinner functions, pretty embarrassing but still comical. In case you are not sure what I am talking about I will give you some of the catch lines to the songs we "remixed":
1. "I'm bringin Ponzo back, them other dogs don't know how to act"
2. "Take a look at my Ponzo, he's the only one I got!"
3. "Whoa, here he comes, he's a Mail-eater!"

:o Don't leave me hanging, guys...Please reassure me that we aren't alone in this!

We have sung "Zippity-do-da" to Zip since we got him. Not to any certain song, but to Zia I sing "Me-uh see a Zia." Don't have anything for Zeke. Wait, one just came to mind...."They call him the Zeke".

No thought-out parodies here, but when I was in high school my best friend heard some strange noises coming through on my end of the phone one night, and she asked if everything was okay at my house. I responded, "Oh! That's just my mom, singing to the dog."

Mom never really had any particular melody...most of the time she just sang, "IIIIIIII....love my DOG! Mitzie is... the BEST DOG in the WOOORRLD!"

So... remixes, no. Weirdos, yes!

ok, so first, you are very creative... and yes I totally make up songs for my boys.. most are tunes ( like the presidential song, the olympic theme song, and other such silly things) mostly to Dillon as i have had him since he was a puppy so i made up lots of silly songs... and silly rhymes.

If it makes you feel better, the theme song for CSI ( my favorite show) which is "who are you" by the who...when the song came on, I would grab Clinton the cat, and would dance around the room with him while singing...

Yes - I am guilty also.
And I know what you are thinking - when have we ever known Jessica to act silly?

I will make up a song, to any tune, about anything. I used to do this when I was teaching preschool, to amuse the kids (and a bunch of the teachers, too!). :D

The most recent one was to the tune of "The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy", and consisted mainly of different variations of the words FLUFFY BUTT.

No fear, Amanda! I do this ALL THE TIME! I was just thinking about asking the very same question on here the other day.

I just finished taking a shower and, as I was drying off, I was singing "Who's Andy...she said...and smiled and looked the other way...Who's Andy...she said...you know I love her!" (to the tune of that 80s song, "Who's Johnny?").

One of my favorites for Rhys is "Hey there, Corgi boy..." to the tune of "Georgie Girl." But I am always taking whatever song is in my head and adding doggy things to it.

Gotta "Whole Lotta Butt," anyone?? :p

Oh My God, Guys! we are so nuts! I love it!! And the CD, had me peeing my pants....I think I love, Hold Closer Tiny Dachshund. I could also hear Tana singing to Andy, and then it hit me..Tana, feel free to sing this one...."Hey there Andy Girl, Andy Girl" Sung to "Hey there Lonely Girl!"
I think we should record these on our own CDs...and NEVER sell them to anyone!:D

I sing weird words to Abby to whatever tune is playing, but I also have a chant that I use when we are out walking on the leash, and she becomes one very stubborn deadweight Corgi. For some reason this always sparks her up, and she will keep going as long as I am repeating it over and over - if I say it fast, she breaks into a gallop, say slowly with emphasis - we go at a normal pace - but I do see people looking at me rather strangely. I have tried all the old marching ditties, but they have no effect on her. This is my chant -

One and Two and Three and Four,
Come on Girl, let's walk some more,
Five, Six, Seven, Eight,
Soon we'll both be feeling great.

Anyone remember Smokey Robinson and the Miracles? How about..."I did it wrong, my Chip went out to play, and in the snow I lost him, what a price to pay, eh, eh eh....I'm crying...Ohhhhhhhhh....baby, baby.:D

I need a vacation.:D

I thought it was the parental perrogative to embarass our kiddos at any opportunity?

Don't tell me all these potty training photo's are going to go to waste?! ;)

You are NOT alone!! I too sing weird songs all the time. For those of you with toddlers that was the "Little Einsteins" tv show, they take classical medleys and put lyrics to them quite frequently. So of course, I've taken to it too when I play my classical. And I belt out my own phrases for my opera mp3's. And I constantly hum and sing around the house, in the car etc.

Unless the hubby is present. My singing is a gross annoyance for him, so I try to tone it down when he's at home. *sigh*

I think Abby might have some military background Kath! That sounds like one of those marching chants they do at boot camp (in movies, anyway).

And Tana - I actually knew what song you sang "Who's Andy" to before you told us. How sad am I? :)

Grace - you are more considerate than I am. I sing whenever I want . . . for better or worse, remember? ;)

Just remembered my all-time favorite Jackie song. I am not going to tell you the tune, because I want you to guess. But those of you who know me will have no trouble, I am sure:

Who's the cutest little fluff that ever came to be?
J-A-C
K-I-E
R-Y-AA-N
Jackie Ryan
Jackie Ryan
Forever will we love your fluffy butt! . . . butt!! butt!! butt!!

Jessica - Do you remember the MOVIE the song "Who's Johnny?" was featured in?? It's 80s trivia time!

And, gee...could that be the Mickey Mouse Club song you sing to Jackie? ;) At first I was thinking Toni Basil's 80s cheerleading tune "Hey Mickie" - I sing that to Rhys all the time:
Oh, Rhysie
You're so pretty
They don't understand
You took me by the heart
When I saw your fluffy butt. :D

Oy veh! The memories you just brought back!! This guy worked for a big catholic college and would often conduct with a boxing nun puppet!! He had a sense of humor....

"When the moon hits your eye like a big Ponzo pie, that's Amore!"

Everyone needs some silliness in their lives, Emilie! :D

Speaking of silliness - whenever the dogs are nearby (which is usually) when I log onto C2BC, I start to sing to them: "It's cool to be Cor-gi....it's cool to be Cor-GEE!" It's my own original tune. :) The dogs like it.

I do the same singing thing and if I sing to Chip while he is on my lap, he will wash my face. He probably thinks I am sick:rolleyes: Anyway, I sing Chipedoo and Dale too - I love you, my chiparoo. I also sing chippity do da, chippity day.

Ha, I love this thread! "Hey Rhysie" really took me back - sure did love the 80's! :p

One of my current silly songs for Trevor is when I get home at night and he greets me at the door, I open my arms to him a belt out "Little Maaan, Little Maaan, Little Man!!" - sung to the tune of the "Mission Impossible" theme.

Good thing the front door is set back from the street and the neighbors don't see THAT! :D

Ahh - the neighbors...yes mine probably think i am off my rocker. See in our current house, i am surrounded by neighbors, all close enough to witness some really embarrassing things... like my running around in my back yard getting Gus to chase me by bleeting like a sheep! yep, "baaaaa ...baaaaa" and he comes RUNNING! LOL or when i do rasberries on Dillon's tummy - picture it, i am on my knees in the grass blowing party farts on my dogs tummy... how does THAT look.? thankfully the singing i do is all in the house, so they can't see all that.....phew... My hubby heard me singing last night to Dillon and he came around the corner and made sure to let me know he was going to tell EVERYONE at work about my singing... so i told him if he opened his mouth , i would tell everyone how he makes Dillon dance to music ( which by the way, is the funniest thing you have ever seen) and suddenly he was not so fast to be talking ! :D

Wow, I was shocked to hear of all of this silliness!! I thought it was just me -and who new Jess would know the Mickey Mouse Club theme song - really??;)

Okay - I'll admit it - I have a few. I love to sing to Rupert - off-key preferably, as he tilts his head so far over as if to say "what the heck is wrong with you!".

When out walking - and now that spring is here - two of my classics are "Squirrels just wanna have Fun" and "Could I be your Squirrel"

On evenings when I think death could be imminent from the gas in the room, it's time for the Stone's classic: "Fart me Up".

I sing Jem's name to Chimchiminey from Mary Poppins- "Jem Jem a nee, Jem Jem a nee, Jem Jem Jaroooooooo" It's great 'cause you can howl the last word.

Rupe's name is great with the the Banafana Song:

"Rupert, Buport, Bobupert, Bananafana Fow Fupert - Rupert!"

I have lots of others, but feel I should try and maintain a modicum of decorum as an admin!

J-Deb,

Leah's the singer in our family... she gets that from her Mom. :)

Wow! You all are so clever!!! I tend to make up songs for Jim all the time. They are always silly and never make sense but it's fun! The bad thing about making up so make songs is I tend to forget most of them after a few days. (memory loss is coming on fast with me! Too many terrible things happen to me at school and I tend to block them out!) Anyway, since I'm not the only wacky person that sings songs and dances with my corgi, I'll share my latest silly song. -to the tune of Don'tcha wish your girlfriend was hot like me- "Don'tcha wish your puppy was a corgi like me, Don'tcha wish your puppy had ears like me, Don'tcha!!!!
And then there's Jim's favorite - Corgilicious - He's so delicious - Ace is corgilicious! :)

this one is a little off topic but.....you know that never stops me :p

when I was taking early retirement last year Leah and I made up my Retirement Song to the tune of "Santa Claus is coming to town" (Leah calls me Gran)

Oh you better watch out - might as well pout,
probably cry - I'm telling you why....
Grrrrrr-annnn is re-tir-er-ing

She'll take the Girls for walkies - and then she'll take a break! :D
