I don't know what to do...I can't keep Andy from peeing in the early morning in the hallway.
I think she used to not have the problem holding it at night because I didn't spend as much time sleeping at night (I was a grad student so I took lots of naps and stayed up late). Now I am in bed by 11 and get up around 6:30 and she can't seem to hold it the entire time.
What should I do? Put down a pee pad until she adjusts? Force her to sleep in her crate (which I don't know if that would give her the message)? Stop her from drinking water 2 hours before bed?
Help! My carpet (as well as my patience) is suffering!! :ARG:
When Link was peeing overnight it was because of too much water before bed. I'd try that first. Be sure to put up all sources of water, Link had been drinking it outside and I didn't realize it. I try to put it up around 8 or 8:30, last call for pee before bed is around 11:00.
Good luck!

Tana,
Cody's last outing for pee is about 10:30 at night, so he doesn't get water after 8:30 - 9 p.m. - if I were you I would try to take her water away(earlier) first, and if that doesn't work, I would put her in her crate for bedtime. She should be able to hold it from 11 to 6:30 a.m., if she is not drinking lots of water before bed. Good luck:SMILE:

Tana,
I had the same issues with Jemma and was getting to the point that I didn't think she could ever be loose will I was at work.
I agree with the others - take the water away at 8:00.
A couple of questions - when does she pee in the AM - as soon as you are up and she is running around? She's still a youngster being under 2 and the time in the AM when they are first up and at 'em is the key. With Jemma, I keep them in my room, with a babygate, so when I get up, I get dressed to go out and I take Jemma right down for a tinkle then right back up. I did this with Rupe and Riley until they were just over a year old. With Jemma, I may be doing it until she is 2. (I love 5:30 AM- :NAH: ). I had to rip up my wall-to-wall carpet in the diningroom and clean and seal the floor then put down new carpeting. I kept her kennelled in my kitchen while I was at work for 3 weeks so she would get out of the habit, and now she is fine.
Good luck kiddo!!!

Deb-Did you use pee pads for her while in the kitchen? If so, did she get use to those and not want/need to go outside?

To answer questions:
I have never used peepee pads for her.
And she normally tinkles BEFORE I get up. By the looks of it, maybe an hour or two before. I know she moves around at night (gets on/off the bed, goes and lays under the table). I always take them out within 5 minutes of getting out of bed.
I guess I'll start with water restriction first.

As much as you may hate having her sleep in her crate, it's doubtful she will pee in her crate in the morning, instead she will force herself to hold it.
Both of mine slept in their crates until I was confident that they could hold it all night and make it to the back door before they ran out and peed.
Tuck is 2 and a half and Lulu is just over 1 year old. They are back sleeping in their crates because I have trouble sleeping and as hard as it is for me to sleep with both on the bed, I think my tossing and turning gives them a bad night. So crates were a good solution for all of us.
They didn't like going back to crates after sleeping on the bed with me but now they run right into their crates.
I never thought I'd be a fan of the crates but they really serve a lot of purposes.

Nope - I didn't use pee pads while Jemma was in the kitchen - I didn't want to teach her to pee in a different place, I wanted to get her out of the habit of peeing during the day and to learn to pee everytime we go out. She is much better at peeing on "command" now.
Tana - Susan is right, she needs to have her movement restricted at night. Even if she doesn't feel she desparately needs to pee, she may just do it out of habit. Do it for a couple of weeks and then let her back on the bed and see what happens.

She'll be fine Tana - I thought Jemma would be mad, but she was great about it.

Tana,
Lulu barked about it a bit but settled right down and went to sleep. But then again, Miss Mouth (aka Lulu) has to share her comments about everything.

Dale was doing really good for about three weeks and no accidents then he got neutered. Two accidents since then but last night was my fault. He wanted outdoors at 11:00 at night and I thought he just wanted to fool around with his company (that he doesn't like) so I picked him up and went to bed. "NO:": That was dumb. I learned my lesson.
