View Full Version : Such bittersweet news....

It is extremely hard for me to write this, but also very exciting...three of the puppies have found wonderful forever homes and left last night!

One of our neighbors is a "corgi couple" and they have been following Sadie and the puppies from the very beginning with great interest. Last week they came to look at them "on behalf" of their very best friends who own a horse ranch and show cutting horses (both couples ride and compete). They are also corgi people who had recently lost one of their two corgis.

Both couples came back again, and both decided that they really needed a puppy. Gabby (now Lulu, Susan!) went with our neighbor, and their friends took Gus. They also took Zsa Zsa for their ranch manager and his family who have always loved their corgis.

I'm feeling very sad, and yet very, very happy and relieved that I know where three of them are. The others, unless someone else gets placed, are going to the breeder's on Sunday. We are going to be out of town more than in for the next two weeks, so this weekend had to be the departure weekend. Both families wanted to take theirs with them so that they'd have them for the entire weekend before the workweek starts (although both families have in-house moms) and are experienced corgi owners, so they did leave a couple of days early. I hope that is ok! Our vet signed off, knowing the entire situation. They had both checked with their vets as well. The babies are just a couple of days shy of 8 weeks and have been completely weaned for almost two full weeks. I'm still feeling completely guilt-ridden, but I've honestly done the very best that I can for them all. These homes are absolutely perfect for Gus and his two girls!

The wonderful news is that Lulu (nee Gabby - I'll never quite get used to Lulu) will be living just a couple of blocks away, and they walk several times a week down the path by our yard. We can visit any time we want! And Gus and Zsa Zsa will be living on a ranch with Gabby's owners' best friends. So I think the corgi gods are smiling!

I have the three tris now till Sunday, and then it's an empty nest again!

Here's one last picture of the group as a whole....

OH! I know how you feel! I remember when Bunny's babies went to their new homes! I know they have good homes, but, WOW, what an empty spot! At least you will get to see the one frequently and possibly the other two as well!

Note: Bunny was my buff cocker spaniel I had years ago. (Her registered name was "Patti's Bunny in the Buff".

Leslie ~ I'm sorry that you are so sad! Hugs and kisses from the Z's! I'm very glad that they all went to good homes, and that you will be able to see Lulu on a regular basis. I bet you'll get to see the others, too. Again, sorry that you are sad!

Well so far you are batting 1000 in the placement department, maybe you should send your kids door to door in your neighborhood, holding a puppy, and telling a sad tale. Then you could see them all  .

That's great that the pups are going to experienced Corgi homes. I'm sure that must make you feel better. Make sure you tell them about us here at C2bC - we'd love to keep watching their development and hearing about them - we've become attached too!!

Leslie, you have done a wonderful job with Sadie and the pups - considering the whole thing came as a surprise to you, it's even more amazing. Whoever gets these little ones will be very lucky that they have had such a good start in their lives.

Congratulations to you and Sadie for a job well done!! +REDAWARD+

Thank you so much Deb! I can't tell you how I've agonized over letting the puppies go a little early, but knowing where they've gone and knowing what wonderful situations they are going in to makes me feel so much better.

This has been the experience of a lifetime! I have SUCH respect for all of the serious breeders here...this was an amazing amount of work. And, I was extremely lucky - no problems, no surprises (if you don't count the pregnancy itself, of course  ). Breeders are tremendously dedicated people, and my hat is off to all of you!

Leslie don't feel guilt about a little early when it is only a couple days. We got Pepper when she was 6 weeks old so I hope that makes you feel better. When they are going to experienced homes too, don't feel bad. It will be fun to hear how Sadie reacts when one of her pups is walking by her home!

How great is it that you are so connected to your puppies' new parents! This way you can see your neighbors' puppy and hear about the other two all the time. That's really wonderful.

You're sad right now and anyone would be, but you haven't lost touch. Moreover, you will always know that they all have great homes!

You did a really great job with those puppies!

Our little pups are growing up . . . sniff sniff. . .

It's wonderful that you will be able to keep tabs on them Leslie. And knowing that they are going to good, experienced homes is the icing on the cake!!! I do hope that you informed them of the mandatory C2BC membership??!! LAUGH:

I can only imagine what your feeling, Leslie but;look at it from another perspective-so many have uncertain futures and and neglected either physically or harmed emotionally or worse. Yours are going to good, loving, knowledgeable homes where love abounds. Rejoice in that and be happy they're not so far away!!

I am sure it was painful to have to let them go, but it sounds like they have wonderful homes, and that you will be able to get updates on them as well. You gave them a wonderful start to life and gave them the security of good hoems with people who understand the breed. Sending you hugs as i am sure that you are missing your little puppies!

You know, if it's helpful, you should ship one of the remaining ones up to Philly... the Pemmie puppy would have another loving home AND a Cardi brother... ;)
