It is extremely hard for me to write this, but also very exciting...three of the puppies have found wonderful forever homes and left last night!
One of our neighbors is a "corgi couple" and they have been following Sadie and the puppies from the very beginning with great interest. Last week they came to look at them "on behalf" of their very best friends who own a horse ranch and show cutting horses (both couples ride and compete). They are also corgi people who had recently lost one of their two corgis.
Both couples came back again, and both decided that they really needed a puppy. Gabby (now Lulu, Susan!) went with our neighbor, and their friends took Gus. They also took Zsa Zsa for their ranch manager and his family who have always loved their corgis.
I'm feeling very sad, and yet very, very happy and relieved that I know where three of them are. The others, unless someone else gets placed, are going to the breeder's on Sunday. We are going to be out of town more than in for the next two weeks, so this weekend had to be the departure weekend. Both families wanted to take theirs with them so that they'd have them for the entire weekend before the workweek starts (although both families have in-house moms) and are experienced corgi owners, so they did leave a couple of days early. I hope that is ok! Our vet signed off, knowing the entire situation. They had both checked with their vets as well. The babies are just a couple of days shy of 8 weeks and have been completely weaned for almost two full weeks. I'm still feeling completely guilt-ridden, but I've honestly done the very best that I can for them all. These homes are absolutely perfect for Gus and his two girls!
The wonderful news is that Lulu (nee Gabby - I'll never quite get used to Lulu) will be living just a couple of blocks away, and they walk several times a week down the path by our yard. We can visit any time we want! And Gus and Zsa Zsa will be living on a ranch with Gabby's owners' best friends. So I think the corgi gods are smiling!
I have the three tris now till Sunday, and then it's an empty nest again!

Here's one last picture of the group as a whole....
