Our local Humane Society sponsored a walk, called "Paws In The Park". You get people to sponsor you, and it's a 2.5 mile walk. If you raise at least $100 you get a t-shirt, and if you raise more, you get sweatshirts, etc.
We got to the $100 mark, so we did get a shirt.

Ok, so the first comment was "let me guess, a corgi-sheltie mix?" from a lady at one of the booths. I need to record explaining what fluffy corgis are, because most people don't know they exist. We also saw a fluffy (or long-haired) whippet. I didn't know they existed.

It was very hot, so I planned on making sure Giz had plenty of water, plus we gave him a bath before going. So he was still damp.
They also had kiddy pools setup for the dogs to play in.
Here are a few pictures from the day:
This is one of the rows of booths setup, hmmm, ya might not want to bring the checkbook, too many cool things.

Yes, we did find another corgi. I don't think the owner believed me when I told her Giz is a purebred corgi.

Made some new friends of all different shapes and sizes:

We also found a cardigan and corgi mix:

Who could resist petting those cute puppies!

This was the view from behind us. We got a early start, due to heat and the fact we had to be somewhere else after the walk.

About halfway, they had a cooling area. The labs loved the kiddy pools, Giz didn't want to get in, but dad made him walk through it. My camera was just too slow to catch him in the pool, or he was just too fast getting out.

All in all, we had so much fun. I would definitely do it again! This was the second year for this event, which I missed out on last year. We just happened to see a flyer at the Petco advertising it. I almost backed out of doing it since they predicted it to get hot. I think it was around 89 degrees by the time we left, but felt much hotter in the sun. I encourage everyone to find these type local events in your area. You won't regret it!

They hold the same event here, Judy but I can't recall when it is. They usually tell about it on the local stations. Don't you just love all the tangled leashes!! That looked to be a great turnout and I know they all had fun...albeit, hot fun.

What was that long legged big boy in the middle of the walk in the first picture? He's twice the size of the rest.

Judy ~ That looks like a lot of fun! I'm going to check in my area for something like that.

I love the photos, thanks for taking the time to post them. The one where Gizmo is looking up at someone(think it's your husband???) that photo is adorable, I love the look on Gizmo's face. (But then I've never seen a bad photo of Gizmo.)

What fun! I wish we had things like that here! Looks like a pretty big event, and lots of dogs. I also like that Gizmo photo, he is really such a handsome boy.

It was just so much fun seeing all the dogs. I think that big dog in the picture of the booths was a Great Dane. Those puppies all on individual leashes were just so darling getting all tangled. +WUBCLUB+

Good for you guys Judy! These events can be really great - we have Paws in the Park too, but it's in September when it's a little cooler. I did the OSPCA walk with Riley and her Lab friend Ella one year. Someone must have told our dogs it was a race and my friend and I got dragged at a trot for 5 kms!! I was exhausted!

What a great support event! Looks like you all had a great time, people and puppers alike. I love the idea of the pools in the cooling area. Thanks so much for sharing those wonderful pictures.
