And Danny & I ended it with a score of 197 !!!!!! in Open B.:BIGGRIN"
My boy was fantastic today, wish I had let Gary FLIP video us. His focus and heeling was beautiful, if I do say so myself, since others did too.
Yesterday, not so good. But it was my fault, not his. Only a 187.5 I lost us 5 points for giving a second command, which I did not have to do.
When I sat Danny to sit & stay for the Drop on Recall, I left him, walked the 40 feet away, turned, and he was standing in place from the sit I had left him in.+SAD+ He has been doing this a lot in training. I looked at the judge, and then I figured since we had NQed because he was up, I have him the hand signal to sit and he did. We then finished the exercise. The judge told me that we had NOT NQed because Danny did not move away, he stayed in place when he stood and I should not have given he the hand signal to sit.
So we lost 5 points instead. Bad handler.
The CKC is making major changes to the Obedience Rules starting in January 2012, so I will now stop trying to remember all the ones that were up to 2011.

Good job! I am surprised, didn't you get docked at all for him standing up? And I still think you were smart to make him sit, if you let him get away with it he would know he can do it in the ring with impunity.

Thanks guys, I am sooo proud of Danny.+WUBCLUB+
More trainers and a judge that keep telling me how lucky I am to have this dog! He was really working yesterday, it's all a huge game to him that he & I play when we enter the ring.
I really need to keep our training interesting, today I'm taking a clicker out of the back of the cupboard and will work on his Fronts.
He will like that, click = treat. +TUP+
Ringside yesterday morning my trainer said this, first you go for the Qs, then the titles, then the points. How did she know? So we are now working on trying to keep up with some good points & fine tuning our exercises.
Bobbie, it is not an automatic NQ if the dogs Stays the judge told me, I was lucky. Our trainer said that she felt that Danny understood to Stay, but not to Sit Stay. So in Sunday's trial I used the word Sit as I gave him the hand signal and left him. For the Drop on Recall and the 3 min Sit Stay with me out of sight. It worked!
And Auntie Beth, Mum bought me pink flamingo toy for my toy reward!!

Dogs are smart and sit-stay is stupid, who outside of obedience trials cares if your dog stands or lies down as long as he stays? Danny is no fool.
but what I wanted to know is, was it points off to get uP? Or would it have been if you didn't give another sit signal?

As I understood it, and others, that the 5 marks off, being in the Substantial category were for him standing, but now moving forward. So glad that he has a concertina up/down. I'm pretty sure that's what saved him. I was not given marks off for the signal because she said that it was not needed, it had nothing to do with the exercise. I squeaked by.
