Hey guys... here they are! Colby pics and a few story bytes from our trip.

Picked Colby up at the breeders on Saturday, June 9th. Her house is immaculate and the yard is incredible. She obviously is a talented gardener! She had Colby and 2 of his brothers left and they were romping outside. As soon as we drew near the play area, Colby et al came bounding over to greet us. The breeder (whom I will from here on out call "P" for simplicity) picked up Colby and right away he snuggled in contentedly against her shoulder. I finally got to hold him and he did the same with me. We've only had him almost 2 weeks and he's still a little snuggle bug!!!

Me holding Colby in P's house:

Anyway, we had to do some rearranging in our truck to get both the crate and our daughter's carseat to fit, but pretty soon we were ready to go. P said she couldn't stand to watch us drive away and a teary breeder mom made her way back to the house. I asked her to pick out Colby's first drive toys and treats (chews) and I hope that helped ease her mind a bit. She said that he would have been a show dog if his testes had dropped, but one hadn't so we were going to be the ones to bring him to our family. He really gets a hold of your heart quickly and I see how hard it is for breeders to let go of their pups... especially those pups with something special. (not to say all puppies aren't special!)

Oh, he is so cute and he looks to be a good size already, what does he weigh? And I want to know, how did the cats react to him?

Anyway, we were off to our first rest stop, potty break and dinner soon enough. Here we are at the first rest area:

And we FINALLY made it to our first campsite at Willard Bay State Park. Beautiful beautiful park... but for the trains. That ran every few hours, all day... all night. Blah! First night was rather sleepless and our daughter was on overload so that was a screaming fit. But the 2nd night there we moved campsites (we showed up a day early so our original reservation spot was taken for the one night already) and it was much quieter... or maybe we were just more tired!!!

My only picture of a fellow forumite. She was caught mucho unawares:

Colby's first time at the beach (freshwater reserve part of the Great Salt Lake):

Happy Dry Dog:

Happy Wet Dog:
http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u282/Graceraven/S8000302.jpg

He is a TOTAL water nut!! He LOVED it and just jumped right in! Cheryl took him out a bit farther and he swam no problem! Loved it... of course, stinky wet doggie smell ensued, and mommy was soaked from carrying him wet, but clean to the car...

Outside our travel trailer one morning:
http://i171.photobucket.com/albums/u282/Graceraven/S8000289.jpg

Colby was oblivious and then FINALLY once he spotted them, he could have cared less. He's so mellow about stuff.

As for the cats... if they run, he chases. When cornered they growl and hiss and he backs off just fine. I try to catch him before they chase him, but occasionally he is out of reach. If the 2 morons would just stand up for themselves once, that would be it! They are by no means friends, but this morning Crash laid on the couch while Colby was running on the floor... and they were fine. So progress is being made!!

Potty training... Colby need to go out for me every 45 min or so. He can't quite make an hour indoors or he will pee. And occasionally when we play, he gets excited and pees. Not a biggie for me, we are making progress there as well.

Words he knows: Come (which for his age is really sound. He comes to me 95% of the time!), Off, Snuggle, Kisses, Drop

He will play fetch and bring the ball back until he's tired. And he LOVES his kongs, peanut butter and pumpkin!!

I was feeding him twice a day per the breeders instructions, but we have a long day, so I've broken it up to 3 times a day. (someone suggested this and it made sense) He is on Iams Puppy kibble, but that will change in the coming weeks slowly. I wanted to keep him on the food he was used to for a few weeks after we were home at least, instead of changing a bunch too quickly.

I think that's it for now. I'll post more pics as I find them!

I guess this means no more games from Artos! Too bad....I think we all enjoyed them! I didn't realize that anyone on here was so sensitive to having the pictures they posted publicly copied by anyone else for their own enjoyment or for the creation of something good/fun. Ya'll be careful to get written permission to use the corgi pictures/names/likeness before you write any of those books! Wouldn't want anyone to get into trouble.

Thanks guys for the compliments!! I am for sure a glowing mommy!! He is so wonderful, mellow easy puppy. He loves it here and he is my daughters shadow (as well as mine). He is a wonderful snuggle bug too... could NOT have gotten a better puppy. My breeder was just awesome and I would go to her again in a heartbeat for the next puppy!! She was so spot-on in what we were looking for and her dogs are just beautiful!

Ahhh, just what I needed, a puppy photo fix.

Colby is gorgeous, adorable, etc, etc. I love the 1st potty stop with green grass. My poor pup will be wilting in the hot desert, yuk! Though I have to confess I've never traveled east on Interstate 10. Course after Saturday, I will know why!

I'm so happy you got the temperament and personality you really wanted.

Jackie still has hers . . .but they are buried under a lot of fluff!
(and they are a little lighter than when she was a pup, but still there)

You sure those freckles aren't mud?

I think with a little judicious use of some Mary Kay, those freckles could remain there indefinitely!! In Rupert's case, I think mud could be it-that boy sure likes the mud and I believe he just might have a touch of Water Dog in him but-what a great one he would be!!
