im sure this has been asked before.. but what brand/type of food do you prefer to feed your corgi? Perry was raised on ProPlan (i think) If i ever give him cheap food he gets the runs really bad, so i have to stick with a certain kind. What seems to work for your corgi?

Right now my two are on Wellness Super 5 (whitefish & sweet potato). I have also had good luck with Wellness Core Ocean. And before that I fed Nature's Variety Prairie (venison & millet), but it got hard to find and I heard from some of my dog friends that they may have sold the company, so I decided to go back to Wellness. They love it. Jackie has a very sensitive tummy also, and she has nice solid poops on Wellness.
Wanted to add . . . they also get yogurt & pumpkin with their dinner. Breakfast is in treat balls, so that's just dry.

We're feeding the cans from Granatapet and Raw food, but I don't know if the brand made it's way to the US yet, but I heard lots of people here use Taste of the Wild (Short TOTW).
They now have matching cans to the kibble variaties, so mixing shouldn't be a problem, but when you do this, reduce the kibble portion to 50% and then mix 50% portion canned food (Morning and evening 25% of the daily amount of kibble and 25% can).
Some dogs may have trouble with some mixing varieties, but most dogs don't.
The dog of my grandmother's neighbour for example gased the house when he ate chicken kibble mixed with chicken can.
Chicken kibble and any other can was OK, but chicken kibble and chicken can - uh uh!

I have been having a time of it lately.. I was feeding a three part mix for quite a while- 1/3 Fromms Whitefish and Potato, 1/3 Fromms Chicken a la Veg and the final 1/3 was rotated a few times but it was initially Timberwolf organics Wild and Natural and then when that food became harder to find locally for me, I switched to Taste of the Wild High Prarie.
Then i got it in my head that i would like them to eat ONE food and then i could rotate that every 3-4 months. So i switched them to Orijen Regional Red ( as I LOVE what i have read about them, their ingredients, how they source their ingredients, etc etc.. great food) but unfortunately too rich for my two , especially Gus , who seemed to get diarrhea/ slimey poops from it..
We switched back to a Fromms product , Whitefish and potato.. however gus is losing weight on this.. and i am already feeding him 1.5 x more than he was eaitng of the previous food mixes.. I know that the whitefish is a lower cal food.. so I am switching back to the three part mix.. only this time I am trying the third part of the mix Fromms Grain free beef.. we will see what happens ...
The only thing that stays the same is that I always give them pumpkin and Yogurt with every meal. Lunch they get a cookie and a spoonful of Canned food ( so gus can take his mid day pill) and currently I am using wellness 95%

I change food 2 times a year. In the winter I feed them a fish based food and in the summer preferably a beef.
I really like Fromm. Whiite fish and sweet potato is our winter formula. It's interesting Emily that Gus is losing weight. Lulu gets pretty skinny in the winter on the fish formula too so she get's about an extra 1/2-3/4 C . Tucker holds his weight well thru the weinter.
I really like the Beef Fritatta. I'm not married to grain free but for half a year, they both do well.
As for eating in general, Tucker has a cast iron stomach. Lulu can get soft poo but she does great with the rotation.

Jax, who used to be a very picky eater, not voraciously inhales Merrick's Senior Medley. As long as he eats it, I won't be looking to change. Unfortunately, there isn't a single retail store in Lincoln or Omaha that carries it. Sit Stay, which opened a retail store recently but has since even more recently closed it, carries a small bag of it online which I can pick up at their warehouse, but he goes through it pretty fast. So I generally look online for the 30 lb bag.
On a side note, Nature's Variety is made right here in Lincoln, about a couple of blocks from where my Dad works. I can ask around about their ownership status.

Taste of the Wild. We rotate through flavors, but try to avoid the venison. She gets gassy! :P

For the longest time, I fed Trevor California Natural (Chicken & Rice) from Naturapet. Then I decided that the little man needed to drop a couple of pounds, so I switched to their Healthwise Chicken & Oatmeal Weight Control (slightly less protein and higher fiber.) He lost the two pounds and did well on it.
In the last year, the pet food store where I buy my supplies has gone anti-Naturapet, due to them being bought by Proctor & Gamble. I've since fed Trevor two bags of Acana Ranchlands. It's higher in calories (grain-free) so he gets about 20% less per feeding. I've had to up his pumpkin since there's less fiber, or else his poop is a bit hard (here we are talking about poop again! :ROLLEYES) As it is, his poops are much smaller than when he was eating the Healthwise. He's doing fine on this food but I think I am going to switch back to something with grain next time. I thnk he needs a bit more fiber than the pumpkin alone provides.

We fee Canine Caviar it is grain free & alkaline based. It's made to reduce health issues through holistic pet food.

Cooper was on Taste of the Wild the pacific salmon formula. He did well on it.
I wanted to lessen the salmon protein so I switched him to Pet Valu's Performatrin Ultra Grain free formula. The proteins are salmon, duck and turkey. He is doing well on that weight wise. He gets pumpkin (generous tablespoon) in each meal. I feed him twice a day, generous 1/4 - 1/3 cup per meal. I agree that with the grain free formulas adding some extra fiber is a good thing and you also know exactly what the fiber is. I monitor the frequency and consistency of the Coop poops as a gauge.
Cooper was on ProPlan as a puppy and he grew way to fast on it which was a contributor to his elbow dysplasia issues so I am not a proplan fan. Not saying it isn't a good food, just my experience. Having read other posts about corgis and proplan it may be a bit too rich for their digestive systems. Think there is corn in it as a filler. Cooper was hyper enough so getting that out of his system didn't hurt.
My first corgi was on Fromm until he developed Irritable bowel sydrome and then was on one of the Science Diet foods for the remainder of his life.
When Perry's test results come back that may help "limit" your choices.
We feed Bella Holistic Select which recently became available at Petco. We still get it at a local vets office and we buy the biggest bag they have and store in a closed food container to keep it fresh. She also gets pumpkin and yogurt stirred into her food. I was told originally that with this food her poops would be smaller as she is digesting more nutrients and there is less "waste". We use the duck formula but it was hard to get for awhile so we have used the fish based one on occasion.

Well, I've now got 3 dogs on 3 different things. But I put Jinjo back on Cal Nat Lamb and Rice, but will be switching him soon back to TotW Lamb. I had them on TotW for a few months till Enda got the major squirts with it, just her but since changing her off it took care of the problem I was worried about what could be wrong with it. But his allergies have gotten out of control, and since he was doing good on it I'm putting him back on it.
We were feeding Holistic Select Salmon, Anchovy and whatever, then went to Costco's Nature's Domain because I heard great things about it (it's supposed to be Taste of the Wild). Now there is a big thing going on with Diamond (the manufacturer) and I'm thinking about moving on to another brand. Trouble is I tend to research stuff to death and the more I read the more fearful I become of the quality of kibble in general. We have half a bag left, not sure what to get next.

I'm going to need to switch Andy's food to something less expensive probably...soon.
I'm moving to Denver, Colorado, at the beginning of June and I don't have a job yet. So, until I get a job, money may be a bit tight (I *have* money, but I need to be extra careful spending it until I have a job.)
She is currently eating Nature's Variety Prairie which is about $35 for 17 pounds and about $55-60 for 30 pounds, depending on the protein type. Does anybody have any good suggestions of something I could find at PetSmart or PetCo?

Been feeding Cooper Performatrin grain free from Petvalu. He is doing well on it. Their line has other types. Don't know how it compares cost wise to what you are using now.

Mac eats Canidae All Life Stages. I might not pick it again in puppyhood based on some of the changes they've made over the years, but Mac has always done super-well on it and it's not to hard to find in a pinch (which has happened to us a couple of times).

Trixie and Murphey have been on Nutro Ultra for a couple years now and have done really well with it. I also add a tablespoon of yogurt in their evening food. It is generally around $50 for a 30lb bag at Petsmart, but I was just in there the other day and they must have done some kind of price change because it was like $39 or something like that and it's not on sale.
Nutro also has some grain free formulas that I have thought about trying, but haven't since I don't want to change up the dogs food. I saw Blue recently came out with grain free too.

Danny is eating Preference by Honest Kitchen. Rudy & Bella recommended it and he is very glad they did!
To it I add either poached chicken breast, turkey meat, beef, salmon, sardines or tuna fish. All cooked.
He loves it, it's keeping him slim, he has lots of energy, getting good muscle tone, sparkling eyes, and a lovely coat.
His stool is not overly large, it's nicely formed and doesn't have much of a smell I am told. (I do not have any sense of smell)

He has also had their complete food, Keen. I may try some of their others for him as well.

I started feeding a homemade raw diet to my senior Cocker Spaniel years ago. I have never and will never look back.

Barbara, how much do you feed Dany (mix & meat) of the Preference? I see their chart, Link is 30 lbs and pretty active this time of year. He'd probably be 3/4 cup? What about when you feed Keen or the other mixes w/meat?

Danny weighs 33-34 lb. And I am feeding him 1 cup of Preference, mixed with 1 c of warm water, it sits or 5 min. then I add 1/2c of protein. Twice a day.
I stopped feeding him the Keen because for the amount he was eating his stool was abundant! I am thinking of trying their other foods though.
I've had many email conversations with a staff at Honest Kitchen, they are very helpful and more than willing to answer any of your questions. I do think that there is also a toll free number that you can use. I couldn't from Canada.
Let me know how you make out.
