HELP! My daughter just came home from work. Her 2nd assistant manager has just been given a 9mo old female cardigan puppy that she can not keep! Her father has told her she has too many animals already (3 dogs/2 cats/1 fiance - still living at home w/parents), go figure the Dad said "NO"!!! She wants to get $750 for the puppy. Is this a reasonable price? The mother is a suppose to be a champion but I have no details there. I have no info on the fathers blood lines either, just that he is a purebred corgi (don't know if cardigan or pembroke yet). So far this is all the info I have. I have requested the lineage and a picture to post on here, if that is okay. I am not advocating the sale of this puppy on here, we just need info to find a proper home for this pup.

Check into the contract she might have signed. The breeder should take the puppy back.

Poor thing! Perhaps the breeder will take the puppy back? Someone gave her a dog and now she's charging $750? Something about that seems wrong to me.

 That made me chuckle.

Yeah, seems wrong to me also, but apparently it was given to her by a family member that could no longer keep the pup. And from what I understand there was a mother dog in there being given away/sold too? I am still on the beginning ends of this. Cathy will try to get more info from her 2nd assistant tomorrow. She needs the money so she and her fiance can move out of her parents home. Hey, its Missississississippi!

:NAH: Something reeks here, and I don't give a flip what state it is, nor is the state relevant; this kind of stunt happens in all 50. IF at all possible these dogs should be returned to the breeder.

Another thing would be to scan the puppy for a microchip - couldn't hurt to make sure it was a missing pup!!! Also by 9 months as a female it would be spayed and then registered with the AKC as a pet which would have it's blood line. For $750, I would want papers. Sure they aren't a puppymill broker?

I know that the girl with the puppy now is not a puppymill or broker for one. She knew absolutely nothing about corgis until I brought Delilah home. According to my daughter, she wants to keep the pup, but Dad said no. She was given the choice of the mother dog or the pup and took the pup. I agree - I would want papers too for that price. I told my daughter to tell her she would be lucky to get $300. I personally think she thinks the dog is worth more because the mother is a "champion". She is in for a rude awakening in this area, if that's the case.

To give you an idea of the economic status of this area. My daughter and I bought houses 1 month apart, basically the same size/age house (except mine had a basement and hers has almost 2 acres, my lot was 1/2 acre). Her mortgage was for $84,000 and mine was for $184,000! Her house is just south of Tupelo, MS and mine was in Tacoma, WA. Oh, and I had a hot tub! [As for the misspelling of MS, that was a joke!]

I am going to check into this alot more. Thanks for the idea about checking the microchip. I don't know if the pup has been spayed yet or not.....daughter didn't have alot of details for me. Her 2nd assistant will be coming into the store for a short while tomorrow and I will see if I can get all the info on the pup - papers, chip, spay, dob, picture, breeder, etc.

So this woman gets a cardigan for free and her dad says she can't have it and now wants to use him to make $750 so she can move out of her dads house.+SAD+ Exactly how far does she think $750 will take her once she is moved out with her 3 dogs and 2 cats ? I hope this dog ends up in some responsible, loving hands.

Delilahsmom:

I got the Missississississippi joke!!!!! Good one!

It's all relative! Also a good one. Is it really on T shirts?

When I lived in Ohio people were always making "West-by-gosh-virginia" jokes.

Looking forward to following the news of this mystery pup.

When we went to Cleveland to pick up Link at the Corgi group's spring fun-thing people kept coming up to us with one or more cardigans saying things like "this is your puppy's half sister, or half brother, or uncle, or full sister, etc. It was impossible to keep them all straight. I said something to that effect and one cardi-relative said "well, hey, it's just like West Virginia!". What a hoot!

LOL, yea they have a bunch for every state. The t-shirt I saw was actually "It's all relative in West Virginia" I took a few liberties :CUTE: They're actually called the rejected state slogans.

Mississippi (or Missississississippi  ) is actually "Come And Feel Better About Your Own State"

I want the puppy to end up in a loving forever home. This has got to be so confusing to her. As for the ditz that has her right now, lets just say she is in her final 2 wks as 2nd assistant! My daughter has been interviewing for her replacement for 2 weeks. (Unfortunately, can't hire her mother....) Some of the stories I have heard are absolutely unbelievable. This one takes the cake though.

At some point in the chain of ownership of this puppy and/or her dam; things have gone terribly wrong, not to mention there are several holes in the story wide enough to drive a big rig through. I can think of one breeder to whom none of this would matter in the "general region" and I can think of a few others who would be :ARG:

As soon as more details are known, I'll be in a better position to comment further.

Just spoke with the girl. The puppy's name is "Miracle". She can be AKC registered, but no one has ever done it. She is not spayed or microchipped (didn't think she would be). She is suppose to bring me the rest of the information tonite when she comes into work. I should have the breeders name and phone #, dam, sire (and their AKC reg #'s), a picture and birthdate at that time. She told me that Miracle is a black and white. That's all I can tell you until after 6pm tonite.

I agree with this others, this story has a lot of holes in it... champion shmampion... i would not pay $750 for a 9 month old dog that has a questionable background... I agree with Debbie that this dog should have been returned to the breeder ( providing the breeder isnt a backyard breeder or puppymill where they wouldnt want or take the dog back anyway) In which case, she will be lucky to just find it a good home, not just trying to make a quick buck off the misfortune of this poor dog...

And Linda made a smart observation, and one that is very telling on today's generation. Just HOW far does she think that $750 will get her? Funny, ironic, and very sad.

As I said before, I really don't know if this girl has much "muscle power" in her head. (I phrased is as Mississississippi!) Not sure how many branches there are in her family tree?! I sure know that I wouldn't get far on $750! Course there are places down here to rent for $250 - not that I would live in!:ARG:

However, I am not going to help her sell this pup. If anyone wants any more information regarding Miracle, you can send me a PM. I am trying to find out who the breeder is and whether or not they will take her back, or find a Cardigan rescue in the area that would be interested in taking over.

Apparently, she "forgot" to get any of the paperwork from her fiance before she came to work this evening. So I am on a holding pattern regarding Miracle. I hope I was able to convey to the girl this am that there was no way anyone in their right mind who would pay that amount for a 9 month old puppy w/o papers in hand!
