Tiramisu was my Birman kitty I lost to a major stroke Feb 2007.

In April the Bereavement Coordinator and I put together a pet loss and bereavement workshop. The second half of the workshop involved creating a memory box. It was well received and attended...so much so that we are holding a monthly pet loss support group.
Being part of that project really helped me deal with Tiramisu's death. I created a memory box and would like to share some pics of it. I used scrapbooking papers and materials. The boxes we used were cigar boxes.
(I used Laura Ashley scrapbook paper). The little carved box that her ashes are in fit into this cigar box, along with her favorite toy mouse, some pictures and a poem.
She was special, my little princess. She had a sweet soft voice and was always ready to share a cuddle. She had a quiet gentle way about her but yet she was determined and always kept Milo in his place, of course in the most ladylike way. She came into my life 11 years ago at a time when I really needed her (but didn't realize it), which sounds odd but I did.
I've since opened my heart to another kitty, Mieko and he is a comical clown but I know someday I will own another Birman. However, thinking of Tiramisu will always make me teary eyed and I will always love her to bits.

Very touching, as I blink, blink away the tears. The lid is so beautiful, appropriate for how you described her.

Thank you for sharing.

Lori ~ That is a great tribute to your kitty! I wish that I would have done something like that when my cats died. Thanks for sharing that.

Lori,

Thank you so much for sharing your memories of Tiramisu and what you have done to keep her memory alive, with us. I think it's wonderful that out of a sad loss you are now offering support to others. Her life continues to have meaning for you - and now others.

All of us that have lost precious pets share in the pain you will always have and I think the memory box is a great idea. Any keepsake that reminds us of those that have crossed the bridge becomes even more more precious whether it be a photo or a collar.

You're luck, Lori, to have had Tiramisu for a long time. I know if it wouldn't have been any easier if she had only been ther for a short time. When you love it's deep and time is of no matter. Many here have pets that are playing together now (I choose to believe that) and I live under the consolation that the day will come when we get to see those cherished and greatly loved pets once more when we cross over.

(((((((((((((lori)))))))))))))))) I love what you did for a memory box what a beautiful Birman kitty she was... i know many people who have had a birman cat often get another as they are so very special. I think working with a berevement counselor on that project was a great thing to do. When Clinton passed, I was completely lost. and I cried all the time.. I spent a lot of time on a petloss website, helping others as much as i was being helped. My husband made a special memory book for me becuase at the time i was unable to look through the photos without having a complete meltdown- I have a lock of his fur, his favorite toy ( a little president clinton doll filled with cat nip) and put his ashes in a beautiful crouching cat bronze urn, and the a small bit of his ashes are in a gold cross pendant that i wear every day...still havent taken it off - He passed 1/29/05 so it has been nearly two and a half years. Tiramisu will be waiting for you at the bridge, playing in the grassy meadows, with all the other furangels until you are reunited again...
