Yesterday, on Jackie's 2nd birthday, she got her 2nd Q towards her Rally title, and placed 2nd overall!!! Not too shabby for her first outdoor trial (2nd trial of any kind . . . hey, I sense a theme here . . .).
Anyway, it was a lovely day. We were up at 5am and out the door by 6am for the drive to Monmouth Battlefield State Park in NJ. The park is beautiful, and the trial was well run and organized. Despite translating a couple of "sits" as "downs" . . . and, at one point, trying to take a detour of her own instead of following me . . . it went really well. Better than I expected, really, for her first time competing outside. For a little while, she was actually in FIRST PLACE! Then she was dethroned by a cute little Border Terrier (*&$%@$#!!!). But Second Place is a great accomplishment, and I am so proud of my little fluffy girl. Only one more Q and she has her RL1 title!!! On the way home, Jackie enjoyed a birthday burger, and a few of my fries.
I have attached a pic of Jackie with her 2nd place ribbon. I took this with my cell phone while we were stopped at a rest stop on the NJ Turnpike, waiting for my friend to return with our burgers & fries. Jackie also received a white qualifying ribbon, and a large coffee mug filled with doggie treats. Not a bad haul for the birthday girl! :CUTE:
She is also wearing her HAPPY BIRTHDAY bandana, but you can't really see it in this pic.
