My silly husband made this RULE that the dog cannot come upstairs. Well, its not that silly because Liam likes to eat the children's things and make trouble.

The other day I was upstairs changing the sheets and making the bed and didn't want to leave Liam downstairs by himself (other trouble) so I gave him reprieve from "daddy's" orders that he cannot come up to the bedroom. He loves the command "OKAY" and little red and white came bounding up the stairs.

Well, wouldn't you know that DH would walk in while he was up there. Liam was just laying on the floor watching me but DH was still very distressed that I broke the RULE.

So I told him that when he wasn't home I not only let Liam sleep on the bed, but ON HIS PILLOW. (I didn't really) but I loved the shocked look on his face. Am I evil! Yes I am.

That's so cute, and I can just picture your dog innocently sitting there when caught, then pointing a paw, "Mommy made me". And that jealousy is a powerful weapon, use it wisely, LOL, My husband use our two against each other. Miss Gambler is my baby, and Mojo is his baby, and we argue and fight for their affection.

Miss G's Mom:

Do you ever fight over them like the couple in the movie "Best In Show"?

If you haven't seen the movie Parker Posie plays 1/2 of a couple that are just crazy taking their dog to the prestigious dog show. They are hysterical!

I love that movie as well, and the first time that we saw it was when we bought the dvd and watched it together, and my husband spent the entire movie giving me strange looks :TWITCHY: . But now that he has his own little love affair with Mojo, I can give him those looks  .

The scary thing about that movie is after all my years showing it was too true.

That's too funny! I bet Liam had a look on his face that said Mom said I could. My DH used to say that Toby would never be allowed to sleep on the bed. NOw, not only does Toby sleep in the bed, he sleeps between our pillows and snores in DH's ear.

Liam is worse than my kids. Mike told him he could go with us to the airport to pick up my son and I said I didn't want him in the car by himself because we might come back to chewed seatbelts or headrests (true story, happened on the way to the KC of Beverly Hills, my mother was sitting in the backseat with my first show dog and she HANDED me the chewed off seatbelt from my 1967 fully-stock Mustang Fastback). So I told Liam to go back in the house and he just stood in the driveway and looked at "dad" as if to say, "hey tell mom you said I could go". He absolutely wouldn't budge until DH told him "sorry buddy, Mom says no". He really understands this stuff!

So the disadvantage of a travel harness is if you have to make a stop and leave him alone. Thank you for the warning on that! Kennel will need to be in the car. Of course this won't matter until it is winter.

:BIGGRIN" my Hubby used to say "Not on the Bed!" (Some of you may remember the story of how Chloe wormed her way into our bed) Now he's the one reminding Chloe it's time to come to bed LOL (Hot Em prefers under the bed or now that it's hot - Kitchen floor)

Bet your Hubby will be cool with having a little bed partner soon too!

After my first divorce, I made sure that any future husbands knew that the dog got to sleep in the bed. (First husband - was a fight just to let them in the house) I love the cuddling and most of the time the DH gets used to it pretty quick!

As for car etiquette! I had a blonde female cocker that I had trained to stay in the back seat while I was in the store. (At least I thought I did! LOL) I came back to the car one day to see her sitting in my seat. She looked up at me like "is it time to get out now?". I promptly told her to get in the back seat and like the trooper she was, instantly hoped over the back of the front seat to her spot in the back seat. The lady next to me was trying to get her kids in the car and asked me how I got my dog to behave so well. Mind you, I had seen her in the store with her "brats", so I told her that if you don't start young, teaching them to have respect for you and obeying you, you would have an uphill battle all your life. My dogs and kids knew when I had a certain tone in my voice that the next time I told them would be with punishment! You can only push this Mom sooooo far!
